Thug Family Values: Kaitlyn Hunt Plea Deal Prompts Bitter Rant by Her Father

Kaitlyn Hunt’s family was featured on the Today show, May 23

The headline at Viral Read:

Kaitlyn Hunt Takes Plea Deal
in Florida Teen Sex Crime Case

Having sex with a 14-year-old is a crime in Florida, and the criminal sex offender Kaitlyn Hunt pleaded “no contest” today in Vero Beach, accepting the deal offered by prosecutors. It was the third such plea bargain Kaitlyn had been offered and, if she had taken the first deal back in May, nobody outside Indian River County ever would have heard of this foul-mouthed tattoo-covered teenage pervert.

Her parents didn’t think their precious little snowflake had done anything wrong, so they rejected the plea deal and decided to make their daughter The World’s Most Famous Sex Offender.

The Hunt family raised more than $30,000 from people who want to legalize sex with 14-year-olds (or at least, gay sex with 14-year-olds) while Kaitlyn flagrantly violated conditions of her pre-trial release, committed new crimes and, in the end, “Free Kate” did not go free.

Imagine my shock when I saw this statement by her father:

Oh, the poor little pervert! All those “vile, horrible and misogynistic tweets from a band of homophobic, racist haters”! Gee, Steve, I’d already finished my article at Viral Read when Jeanette Runyon sent that to me on Twitter, but I decided I needed to add just a few details at the end:

In a statement issued before Thursday’s hearing, Hunt’s attorney Julia Graves promised a campaign to legalize sex with 14-year-olds, saying that Hunt plans after her release from jail “to work with supporters and lawmakers toward a change in the law for teenagers attending the same school, no matter what their sexual orientation is.”
An attorney for Jim and Laurie Smith, parents of Hunt’s underage victim, issued a statement on their behalf: “It was never the intent of the Smiths to harm the defendant and this case was never about gender or sexual orientation. It was about age appropriate relationships and following the rules and laws of our society. They are relieved that this chapter of their life is behind them and that now they, and their daughter, can focus on the future.”
On Facebook, Kaitlyn Hunt’s father Steven R. Hunt Jr. released a bitter statement blaming the prosecution, which he said “used the law to beat up Kate,” the state of Florida (“because it perpetuates laws that criminalize adolescent behavior”) and the Smith family, saying that the victim’s parents “chose to hide behind moralistic ideas.”
Kaitlyn’s father is a former police officer who was forced to resign from the West Melbourne police department in 2004 after an internal affairs investigation found he “pressured a victim not to file a battery charge.” He was arrested on fraud charges in April 2012. He and Kaitlyn’s mother are divorced, and both have remarried.

Steven Hunt, arrested for fraud, April 22, 2012

Go ahead and read the whole thing. You’re a thug, Steve Hunt. Your family is despicable trash, and your daughter is a criminal pervert.

That ain’t my problem, Steve. It’s your problem, and it’s your fault.

Remember when you were going to shut down my blog? Fuck you.

  1. May I suggest posting her pic at the top of viral read, instead of the three month old pic of Weiner?

I would be interested in knowing where the money came from for the vacations and toys the Hunts purchased during this ordeal. Like the all girls jaunt Kelley took to the Caribbean.

  2. These people remind me of grifters. They have found how easy it is to play martyr and make a lot of money, like Trayvon Martin’s parents. Prepare for an ongoing rodeo show.

  3. Just hazarding a guess, local law enforcement is unlikely to do Steve Hunt any special favors the next time he runs afoul of the law. If he were smart — we must stipulate the hypothetical — Steve Hunt would avoid Indian River County, permanently.

  4. Given Daddy’s “Law enforcement career” one needn’t about wonder whether or not he does hold the legal system in contempt. And the DA certainly has every reason to take that letter personally.

  5. 1. No way she stays out of jail. No way she doesn’t reoffend.
    2. Be careful of any traffic stops in Florida. Bet old Stevie still has his cop suit around somewhere.

  6. That rant of his makes me think a lot of Bill Schmalfeldt. They share the same relationship to reality and their responsibility for what happens to them.

  7. Trash. Every. Last. One. Of. Them.

Here’s to hoping law enforcement looks deeply and diligently into the funds raised throughout this entire fiasco.

Surely Steven R. Hunt, Jr. would never, ever, EVAH consider committing fraud (v.2).

    Again… trash.

  8. No way she stays out of jail. No way she doesn’t reoffend.

Indeed. The contempt for law expressed by both her father and her mother suggests Kaitlyn was raised with an anti-social worldview. She’ll be under felony supervision until she’s 21, and she can’t expect any leniency if she steps outside the line.

My guess is she’ll be caught with drugs or underage drinking sometime early next year.

The most interesting thing to me in the plea deal, by the way, was the requirement that Kate undergo “psychological evaluation.” Gosh, it sure would be a terrible thing if a copy of the psychologist’s files were to leak out,.

  9. “In the end, the Smith’s lose the most.”

Hunt is a member of the lost generation that does not know that an apostrophe is for the possessive, not the plural.

I think that it was around 1980 that the ranks of school teachers began filling with illiterate idiots.

  10. One of the most fundamental rules of the left is to never take responsibility for your own actions. It is never your fault, not even a little bit. Someone else is always to blame and you are always the victim. Humility is a dirty word.

This is why sin is a foreign concept and Christianity will always be the enemy. God holds us to account for our sins but he forgives us when we take responsibility for those sins.

  11. , and she can’t expect any leniency if she steps outside the line.

Not to sound like a broken record….

But I’d sure be shocked if she’s held to account rigorously.

I mean, yes, theoretically, that COULD and MIGHT happen.

But it would be out of character for the current prosecution.

  12. Low information white trash!

I can’t wrap my head around the fact these morons thought they could actually address the court.

The only time you get to address a court is by testifying (including under cross examination) or being a legally and statutory defined victim addressing a court during sentencing. That’s the “rule of law” phrase low information voter Steve Hunt heard somewhere called court rules. Like their daughter they feel they’re entitled to special rules and laws.

Too bad for such court rules because if I was judge and heard that trash I would’ve tore up the plea bargain.

  13. Why shouldn’t she leave Florida altogether when she gets out of jail? Certainly many doors are open to her in several other states. It would surprise me if offers of full scholarships with stipends at top universities haven’t already started to roll in!

  14. WOW !!
Someone invent the time machine and go back and give this guy a vasectomy.
(heck, go back and give his dad one instead)

  15. “Julia Graves promised a campaign to legalize sex with 14-year-olds”

    WOW !!
That’s what your life’s work will be???

  16. Vasectomies will not be necessary after the introduction of retrospective abortion and other forms of state sanctioned killing.

  17. As I mentioned on Twitter, I don’t believe for one second Steve Hunt wrote that screed (paragraph returns, few typos, and decent grammar usage).

Don’t get me wrong. He believes and agrees with every last bit of the bile spewed, but he didn’t write it.

And, good grief. Let’s not even get started on Kelley Hunt Smith and her illiteracy.

  18. “Hunt shall submit to a Florida department of corrections-approved psychological evaluation and successfully complete recommended treatment, if any, at her own expense.

She shall waive confidentiality regarding all aspects of the evaluation and treatment.”

    *hmm*

  19. Actually, letters of support from family and friends are often submitted to the probation officer who submits them to the judge as part of the official pre-sentence report.

  20. Kids that attend the same school. So it could very well be a thirteen year old being banged by an adult. The whole family is demented.

America the land of the free to do any warped thing that comes to your sick mind. Good grief!
