Having sex with a 14-year-old is a crime in Florida, and the criminal sex offender Kaitlyn Hunt pleaded “no contest” today in Vero Beach, accepting the deal offered by prosecutors. It was the third such plea bargain Kaitlyn had been offered and, if she had taken the first deal back in May, nobody outside Indian River County ever would have heard of this foul-mouthed tattoo-covered teenage pervert.

Her parents didn’t think their precious little snowflake had done anything wrong, so they rejected the plea deal and decided to make their daughter The World’s Most Famous Sex Offender.

The Hunt family raised more than $30,000 from people who want to legalize sex with 14-year-olds (or at least, gay sex with 14-year-olds) while Kaitlyn flagrantly violated conditions of her pre-trial release, committed new crimes and, in the end, “Free Kate” did not go free.

Imagine my shock when I saw this statement by her father:

 

Oh, the poor little pervert! All those “vile, horrible and misogynistic tweets from a band of homophobic, racist haters”! Gee, Steve, I’d already finished my article at Viral Read when Jeanette Runyon sent that to me on Twitter, but I decided I needed to add just a few details at the end:

In a statement issued before Thursday’s hearing, Hunt’s attorney Julia Graves promised a campaign to legalize sex with 14-year-olds, saying that Hunt plans after her release from jail “to work with supporters and lawmakers toward a change in the law for teenagers attending the same school, no matter what their sexual orientation is.”
An attorney for Jim and Laurie Smith, parents of Hunt’s underage victim, issued a statement on their behalf: “It was never the intent of the Smiths to harm the defendant and this case was never about gender or sexual orientation. It was about age appropriate relationships and following the rules and laws of our society. They are relieved that this chapter of their life is behind them and that now they, and their daughter, can focus on the future.”
On Facebook, Kaitlyn Hunt’s father Steven R. Hunt Jr. released a bitter statement blaming the prosecution, which he said “used the law to beat up Kate,” the state of Florida (“because it perpetuates laws that criminalize adolescent behavior”) and the Smith family, saying that the victim’s parents “chose to hide behind moralistic ideas.”
Kaitlyn’s father is a former police officer who was forced to resign from the West Melbourne police department in 2004 after an internal affairs investigation found he “pressured a victim not to file a battery charge.” He was arrested on fraud charges in April 2012. He and Kaitlyn’s mother are divorced, and both have remarried.

I’m surprised some homo-genius in the homo-lobby hasn’t urged homo-drones to plague state legislatures to get homo-sex in all forms (including what happened in this case) classed as “not sex.” First, because then Kate wouldn’t be guilty of “having sex” with a minor, and second, because it is not sex.

    Then the states could simply say, “Fine. It’s cut and dried child abuse. Do it and go to jail.”

  5. True in some cases but there was no pre-sentencing report done in this case. The plea was changed on 10/2 and this morning entered. Pre-sentencing reports are typically done when you are scoring sentencing guidelines. Also these weren’t letters but speeches they wanted to give in open court according to their daughter Emily.

  6. Given that sexual intercourse is fundamentally associated with biological reproductive imperatives, technically this is probably not sex in the true Clintonesque definition of the word.

  12. A couple of points that I haven’t seen addressed: Hunt wonders aloud why this all wasn’t handled in the first month. As you’ve said once or twice, Kaitlyn should have taken the first plea deal!
    Another thing: the entirely gratuitous story about Hunt’s friend who was killed by a drunk driver. I would bet that there’s much more to the story (like many of the stories told by #FreeKate apologists).

    Lastly, there was absolutely no reason for the jab at the victim’s family at the end. Except to highlight the fact that Hunt and his family are truly classless. They deserve everything that’s coming to them.

  13. Oh the step dad’s rant is even better!! These are evil folk who are outraged that their sexual predator daughter be held responsible for her own behavior.

The oh so subtle change arrived (if even that late) when sex was elevated* to “making love.” Inevitably, perverse logic took its course that led to where we are now: sex with a rat, pig, dog or boy is merely an expression of love, and the instigator is the sole authority on how that love is defined and expressed. Hence, to the followers of Saint Kate, she is guilty of “love.”

  15. Sometimes, the best course of action is to just STFU, and that’s what Steve Hunt and Kelley Hunt Smith should have done.

    Their sweet little girl could have avoided jail, and extra-local notoriety completely, if someone had just told her, “Kate, take the deal.” Instead, they got her picture and story splashed across cyberspace for months, and their lovely daughter is going to spend four months in jail . . . and is lucky it’s not the state pen.

    Even now, they’re lucky, with a plea deal which keeps her off the sex offender registry, if she can just not foul up for a few years. Given that our favorite cheerleader has a penchant for rather major foul ups, that’s when it’s time for her parents to step up. Instead, Mr Hunt wants to keep blaming everybody else but his daughter and his own parenting skills.

  16. Speaking of the cyberstalking troll, he just tweeted a racist comment about, I kid you not, “nig-ruhs,” and issued a not-so-veiled accusation that RSM is racist. Yes, the same RSM who is in business with a black man who is also his friend. I wonder how many black friends the deranged cyberstalking troll has, or does he limit himself to convicted bombers?

  17. Guess she’ll have to sign up for Obamacare, but if the psychological profile goes south, she’ll be able to get her chemicals care of We-who-pay-taxes. So the Hunt victimizes a little girl, those who oppose pedophilia, and the taxpayers at large.

  20. By behaving as legally-defined victims, the larger audience: pedos and their enablers can point to the Hunts as victims which will justify future actions.
    Like the statement of a new boat in Hunt’s driveway, and belief that his statement was done by someone else, the Hunts are willing business partners and willing to allow their daughter to be a martyr for the cause.

  21. Never fear my friends, within the month, I will be forwarding the State of Florida’s Motion to Revoke to the US Attorney’s office to prosecute our favorite dildo wielding child predator under 47 U.S.C. §§ 231, making harmful and indecent material available to a minor.

    It would seem to me that sending a video of a masturbating vagina to a 14 year old minor is somewhat worse than when a perverted banjo player communicates with an undercover FBI agent offering to sexually train imaginary children who do not exist in reality.

  25. My understanding is that the Hunts believed (erroneously) they would have the chance to speak at the hearing, and were surprised that they didn’t get such a chance.

    So in all likelihood, these “letters” had been prepared in advance and, after the Hunts didn’t actually get to deliver them at the hearing, they decided to publish them on the Facebook page.

  40. People will hopefully realize that their proposed age range — 14 to 18 — would mean that a college freshman can have sex with an 8th grader. No legislator with any sanity would ever get behind such a thing.
