You know what this reminds me of? President Clinton claiming that the Lewinsky scandal was distracting him from “doing the work the American people sent me here to do,” as if sodomizing interns was not a distraction. The Wall Street Journal:

Problems with the government’s health-care website are forcing President Barack Obama to redraw his plans for the rest of the year as he looks for ways to regain political momentum.
Scrapping a planned push to drive people to the balky website, the White House is organizing a flurry of events on the economy and immigration, as well as health care, a senior administration official said. . . .
The president’s senior aides had at one time planned for him to be holding events aimed at encouraging Americans to shop for insurance on the new federal health-care website, with stops in places with high numbers of uninsured people.But the problems plaguing the site have forced them to shift strategies.

It’s amazing how the media cooperates in these administration propaganda campaigns: “Senior aides” tell reporters what the White House message strategy is and the reporters then help push the White House message. Then the media report the story of how successful the White House message strategy was — as if they were covering something other than their own coverage. It’s a Mobius loop of bullshit.

    WASHINGTON — The Affordable Care Act is the biggest new health care program in decades, but the Obama administration has ruled that neither the federal insurance exchange nor the federal subsidies paid to insurance companies on behalf of low-income people are “federal health care programs.”

    The surprise decision, disclosed last week, exempts subsidized health insurance from a law that bans rebates, kickbacks, bribes and certain other financial arrangements in federal health programs, stripping law enforcement of a powerful tool used to fight fraud in other health care programs, like Medicare.

    The main purpose of the anti-kickback law, as described by federal courts in scores of Medicare cases, is to protect patients and taxpayers against the undue influence of money on medical decisions.

  8. It will be difficult to “pivot” to something else, given that O-care was specifically designed to impact everyone in the country. I can think of very few things which focus the attention of the populace more than realizing that you have no insurance come January 1 and no way to get it or that your preferred doctor and hospital are no longer permissible under the Government’s new “affordable” regime.

  13. Ron Fournier has a piece in National Journal that at least acknowledges Obama lied, although he minimizes it, of course.

    When these professional hack propagandists start bailing on Dear Beloved And Exalted Leader, it is only because they sense a preference cascade coming. People are beginning to wake up to Obama, including the LIVs who elected him.

    Not the diehard socialists, naturally, or the racist blacks who blindly support him purely due to his skin color, but the gullible swing voters who’ve been fooled for years are finally beginning to wake up as their own wallets are being hit.
