A Maryland Criminal Arrest Warrant Was Issued Today for Bill Schmalfeldt

From District Court of Carroll County, John Hoge reports.

It’s all fun and games until somebody goes to jail.

UPDATE: What I wrote Sunday:

After John Hoge asked the Court to enforce its peace order against deranged cyberstalker Bill Schmalfeldt, the latter decided he had not yet shown sufficient contempt of court, as Hoge explains:

He began tweeting to me within an hour-and-a-half of the judge’s ruling on the 16th, and he’s kept it up. . . .
So how has the Cabin Boy responded? He’s begun tweeting to me at an even greater rate.

Potential penalties are mounting, and why? Most likely because Schmalfeldt believes no judge would actually order him arrested.

It would appear Schmalfeldt has miscalculated.

UPDATE II: Y’know, it seems a mighty hard thing to arrest a guy for Twitter messages, and I feel sorry for Bill Schmalfeldt.

Or, at least, I did feel sorry for him, and then I remembered Lee Stranahan: “Bill Schmalfeldt: The Stranger Who Harassed My Family.”

UPDATE III: Linked by Matt Ross at Conservative Hideout — thanks! — and Aaron Walker comments at length, ending with: “Sometimes Karma’s a bitch, isn’t it Schmalfeldt?”

  1. With what is the esteemed Mr Schmalfeldt being charged? Felony ugly would be appropriate, but, given that the good citizens of Maryland kept electing Barbara Mikulski, I’m not certain that being ugly is against the law there.

  2. It’s about bloody time. As much as BS wants to paint this as a first amendment argument, the first amendment does NOT give anyone the right to harass another period. I’m sure BS doesn’t view his harassment as such but the people he attacks do, and obviously so do the courts. For him to whine how “he’s going to jail because of tweeting a name” is disingenuous at best. He was repeatedly warned to not contact Hoge, including on twitter. Even though he has tried his best to claim @’s don’t constitute contact, the courts have already told him it does and not to do it. So what does he do?? he doubles down on his stupidity and now whines about having to deal with the consequences of his own actions. Forgive my language but FUCK YOU BILL, you mess with the bull you get the horns….

  3. The only reason I even know who Bill Schmalfeldt or Brett Kimberlin or Neal Rauhauser are…is because of what Schmalfeldt did to my friends Lee and Lauren.

I will NEVER feel sorry for him. When anyone takes the time to learn about the details of his depravity in regards to the torment he wrought upon the Stranahan family…you can NEVER, EVER feel sorry for a piece of shit like Bill Schmalfeldt. I would not donate my urine if it would bring him any comfort.

This day could not come soon enough.

  4. Violating the peace order requires only contact. IOW, a friendly message is as much in violation as a threatening or abusive one.

  5. “Or, at least, I *did* feel sorry for him, and then I remembered Lee Stranahan: “Bill Schmalfeldt: The Stranger Who Harassed My Family.””

THIS. Any time I get anywhere close to having a smidgen of sympathy for the deranged freak… the brutal harassment of Lee and Lauren Stranahan smacks me right back to, “Nope.”

Bill Schmalfeldt is undeserving of sympathy. Any and all consequences for his actions are a result of his own hubris and bullying ways. He deserves nothing but disdain. He is vile and hate-filled, and has most certainly earned his current circumstances.

  6. Personally, I doubt he will get prison. I expect some sort of plea deal where he gets a suspended sentence with time served (If he does serve any time at all). Hopefully any plea deal includes an injunction against using the internet entirely. That is the ONE tool that he uses to bully, harass, intimidate and spew his vile lies. WIth out it he goes back to being a nothing.

  7. Deranged individual. I remember the other incident in which he was involved. He definitely belongs in prison, but when he gets out he will be worse. And will have found buddies. The law needs to be very clear and very strong on these types.

  8. indeed, and NONE of his tweets were anywhere near “friendly”. I doubt he’ll get actual jail time (much as I’d dearly love it, not just cause I’m a mean b*tch but because of his blatant disrespect of the courts) but hopefully he’ll realize he needs to ease up on the full on cray cray…

  9. And no one should feel sorry for his dishonest whines about the harmlessness of his gadfly tweets. He has contempt for the court’s order of NO CONTACT – and has shown it nearly 200 times in the last day or two, let alone what has gone before.

  10. As medically inform he will be placed in a medical cellblock range if they have one ; or segregated. In general population, he would be a weak new fish in with the sharks.

Inmates will want no part of BS anyway. They hear of the vile things he said about a deceased child and the rape threats; and that’s a one way ticket to a beating and protective custody. There is a hierarchy in jail regarding crimes, and inmates have wives and children too. Anyone having anything to do against kids or sexual in nature is punished quickly and severely.

    They also can’t stand crazy…
