Impeachment is warranted, but it is not going to happen with out public support. Plus do you really want to elevate Joe Biden? But let’s take back the Senate and talk then!
Even taking the Senate would not have any effect on impeachment. There will be at least 45 Democrats remaining in the most deliriously optimistic scenario I’ve seen envisioned, and Obama only needs 34 votes to survive.
With NO chance of conviction, impeachment then becomes a time-consuming exercise in futility which has no up-side and would very likely lead to a public rejection as it did when we tried it with Clinton. It would endanger not only the new Senate majority, but also the House, and bolster the chances the Democrats win the White House again – and think about how many Supreme Court Justices will die or retire before the end of the next Presidential term in 2021!
Put all that at risk for the fleeting moment of saying, “In your face, Obama!”?
