Creepiest crime story of the week:

A North Carolina man has been arrested after police say he spent five days hiding in a 14-year-old girl’s closet and sexually assaulting her at night.
Jarred Ashley Workman, 27, of Iredell County, was charged with 11 counts of statutory rape and five counts of statutory sex offense, according to WCNC.
Authorities said Workman chatted with the teen on social media for about a month before deciding to meet up in the woods near the girl’s home.
The teen invited Workman to stay at her home, where she lived with her parents, on April 27, according to WTVR.
The suspect managed to stay there for five days, allegedly sexually assaulting the teen at night while her parents were asleep.

Here’s the really creepy part: The girl’s mother didn’t find him in the closet until the fifth day, so if Workman had been willing to leave after three or four nights with the girl, he might never have been caught. But of course, a perp like this isn’t the kind of person who calculates risk on any rational scale, so he had to push his luck.

Also, somebody’s 14-year-old daughter just got seriously grounded.

    You realize, of course, that “spying on one’s children” is considered bad parenting, don’t you? I heard radio jocks wondering why the parents didn’t know who the girl was talking to online, and the female jock was all, “spying on your kids??!!     This feeds into some really twisted logic. Studies have shown kids’ brains essentially don’t process risk and consequence normally until they are in their 20s, so you can’t blame them for doing stupid things (I think that’s bullshit, myself, but people buy into it). But they are allowed to make decisions about stuff like abortion without any parental (read: adult) involvement. So essentially what we have are people who are mentally unstable that liberal idiots think we should give carte blanche to do whatever they want because making them learn self control and respect for rules is stifling their self expression and their exploration of their sexuality (which we all know is fluid only as long as you have been straight all your life but suddenly think you might be gay).

    Screw the village and its increasing host of idiots; parents should absolutely spy on their children. And punish them when they do wrong. The village has – and should always have – nothing to do with it.
