Feminists Outraged After Young Actress Shailene Woodley Says, ‘I Like Men’

She refused to join the Angry Marxist Lesbian Man-Haters Club:

In a recent interview with Time magazine, the actress Shailene Woodley was asked if she considered herself a feminist.
“No,” said Ms. Woodley, 22. “Because I love men, and I think the idea of ‘raise women to power, take the men away from the power’ is never going to work out because you need balance.”

This was such an outrage that it required a 1,600-word article in the New York Times to tell Ms. Woodley how wrong she is, even after she was denounced by every Angry Marxist Lesbian Man-Hater with a blog or Twitter account. Evidently, every woman who has ever held a job earning more than minimum wage owes her achievements to the feminist movement, so that for any professional woman to say “I am not a feminist” — well, this cannot be permitted.

  1. Feminists actually seem to believe that all women should be beholden to them for their place in life. In much the same way unions expect all of their minion workers to be beholden to them.

    This is not empowerment.

  2. The worst I was disrespected in my life *for being female* was by a I’m-not-a-feminazi feminist because I prefaced a comment with, “I don’t consider myself a feminist but…”

Crimes against the Sisterhood and unable to think my own thoughts with my own thought-thinker…

Compared to the auto mechanic who answered my “what does that do?” question with “your husband knows”… well, he was just rather *quaintly* annoying and didn’t attack my very autonomy.

  3. What is absurd is how many feminists reacted to Woodley’s quoted by insisting they don’t hate men, even while also insisting — as any feminist must — that the fight against “inequality” must continue. But if women are suffering from inequality, who is making them suffer this? Men. If woman are victims of oppression and discrimination, who is to blame? Men. So how can you be a feminist — claiming that all women are victimized by the male conspiracy called “patriarchy” — and say you don’t hate men?

Expecting logical consistency of feminists? That’s hate!

  4. The thing is… Ms. Woodley’s perceptions aren’t a matter of hallucination. She’s responding to something very real. If the “Feminists” don’t like it, they ought to look closer to home.

None of this “how dare you just blow off everything your Feminist Mothers did for you!” What they don’t get is… these aren’t my Mother’s feminists. Haven’t been for a very very long time. These are not women marching for the Vote or legal equality, so you can have your *own* bank account or retain your own property after you marry. These are not women trying to get violent rape treated seriously or for the courts to recognize domestic abuse.

They haven’t been for a Very Long Time.

For my whole life it’s been baby killing.

For Ms. Woodley’s whole life it’s been about revenge on men.

  5. What will happen when they get to the Feminism ridicule (graciously) inundating the internet?

  6. The nasty secret is… the patriarchy was never keeping us “down”… it was biology. Reality is that pregnancy destroys your mobility, saps your energy, and turns your brain to mush. Nursing ties you to your cave, or leaves you with your arms full.

We, as a species, may have started to go bipedal only so women could carry babies and run at the same time.

    What they *say* is “Patriarchy.”

What they *do* is kill babies.

  7. Just like the left goes apeshit when a black man has the cheek to be a conservative.

Progressives view women and blacks as their property. Not as freely choosing individuals, but helots whose politics must be defined by their sex or race.

  8. Just as Southern plantation owners lived in mortal terror of the idea of the slaves’ uprising, today’s progressives wet their drawers at the idea of any woman or minority wandering off the plantation and becoming autonomous.

To a true believer, the worst enemy is the apostate.

  9. In the late 50s, when my parents got married, theoretically women could have their own bank accounts and property. My mom periodically ranted about the store charge account that sent her a new card upon marriage, replacing Firstname Lastname with Mrs My Dad.

She baked cookies and did a lot of normal mom stuff so it took a long time for me to realize that she was more of a feminist than not.

  10. Yesterday, I changed the oil and filter in my daughter’s automobile. Does that make me a good father, or just another cisheteronormative patriarchial oppressor?

No, they aren’t, because those ‘battles’ have already been fought, and won. And that’s the problem: if all of the rational goals of feminism have already been achieved, if they don’t continue on to press for the irrational, then they have lost their raison d’être, and have no “jobs” left. The same applies to black activists, and to homosexual activists.

  12. Oh, we already knew that you threw His Wombatness an occasional bone to cook in his beans, or some salt for his gruel, but never actually paid attention to all of the hard work that he does maintaining this site for you.

Wombat needs a raise, Wombat deserves a raise!

  13. […] Young actress commits the unpardonable sin, says she likes men. The Other McCain points to the latest outbreak of Feminist Rage over these words by a 22-year-old actress […]

  14. To your typical feminist, a woman gains full entrance to the sisterhood only after having an abortion. If she has multiple abortions, quite common these days, she is the equivalent of a high priestess. If she aborts a male baby then that’s the ultimate act of empowerment. She is then a Goddess.

  15. The pics I’ve seen of Wombat makes him look well fed. I guess the gruel bowl has increased in size of late.

  16. Strange thing is, most women that want to get married do so. It doesn’t seem to matter if she has the looks of the one on the left, they get married. Liking men, and treating them like they are good human beings goes a long way towards accomplishing that goal.

  17. And only if you make the “right” choice. If you make the “wrong” choice, Heaven help you…

  18. Mmmmm…. hmmmm….ummmm. Well dear, I like you too. Oh hell, I’d hit that like an extinction-level asteroid screaming toward New York City.
