Conservative Intel sponsored the poll.


And Senator Ted Cruz is the winner!
Further results:

1. Ted Cruz — 30.33 percent
2. Ben Carson — 29.38 percent
3. Rand Paul — 10.43 percent

Senator Rand Paul had won the last straw poll, in March.
Looking further down the report, blog favorite Allen West placed:

10. Paul Ryan — 2.05 percent
11. Allen West (write-in) — 2.05 percent

Interestingly, Governor Scott Walker was flying below the radar. One hopes the GOP capitalizes on this energy.

    Apparently, 29.38% are mostly concerned with trying very hard at proving they’re not racist. Which, in effect, only makes them look more racist.

    Folks don’t have to prove that they aren’t racist and they should recognize that attempting to do so only makes them look more racist.

    I’m just saying the poll doesn’t mean a thing because of the tiny sample size. We have around 2000 here at the MN state convention here, and their responses would be better to generalize than 650 folks in New Orleans.

    I am no fan of Dr. Carson’s gun control issues (which are a deal breaker for me) but I would choose him without hesitation over Jeb or Huckascam.

    He’s backtracking the gun control comment a bit in recent interviews. I find him squishy myself. From a recent news story.

    “Dr. Carson played coy about committing to any national party, saying he has in the past been a “flaming liberal Democrat” as well as a “very conservative Republican,” noting he’s currently an independent.

    I agree. I have great admiration for Dr. Carson and hope he stays very involved in the political process, but he is not remotely qualified to be President. The fact that he has such a large constituency, is disturbing, and shows how much the right has internalized the left’s false accusations of conservative racism.
