Did Pervert @LenaDunham Make Her Younger Sister Grace a Lesbian?

Kevin Williamson (@KevinNR) is a masterful journalist who knows a thing or two about effective storytelling. Sometimes, as a writer, you don’t want to be the one to connect the dots. Just say, “Oh, look, here’s a dot and there is another dot,” and let your readers form their own conclusions. And so, having undertaken to read Lena Dunham’s latest autobiographical opus — taking a bullet for the team there, Kev — Williamson describes Dunham’s depraved childhood habits:

Her father, Carroll Dunham, is a painter noted for his primitive brand of highbrow pornography, his canvases anchored by puffy neon-pink labia; her photographer mother filled the family home with nude pictures of herself, “legs spread defiantly.” Self-styled radicals from old money, they were not the sort of people inclined to enforce even the most lax of boundaries. And they were, in their daughter’s telling, enablers of some very disturbing behavior that would be considered child abuse in many jurisdictions — Lena Dunham’s sexual abuse, specifically, of her younger sister, Grace, the sort of thing that gets children taken away from non-millionaire families without Andover pedigrees and Manhattanite social connections. Dunham writes of casually masturbating while in bed next to her younger sister, of bribing her with “three pieces of candy if I could kiss her on the lips for five seconds . . . anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl I was trying.” At one point, when her sister is a toddler, Lena Dunham pries open her vagina — “my curiosity got the best of me,” she offers, as though that were an explanation. “This was within the spectrum of things I did.”

That occurs in part one of the story, and then you read through part two of the story, until you get to part three of the story:

She sneers at “girls with boyfriends who looked like lesbians,” at a man guilty of “dressing vaguely like a middle-aged lesbian,” etc. “Lesbian” is Dunham’s shorthand for “awful.” On Girls, one of the characters scoffs that “dates are for lesbians,” and Dunham describes a childhood fear that she would become “the militant lesbian leader of a motorcycle gang,” but she also describes herself as “being in possession of a gay sister,” which fact she wields like a get-out-of-women’s-prison-free card against accusations of homophobia . . .

Notice the artfulness that Kevin Williamson has employed here: Early in the story, we learn that the degenerate young Dunham molested her sister as a child. Then, after reading several hundred more words, we are reminded, “Oh, by the way, that little girl Lena molested? She grew up to be a homosexual.” There is no need for Williamson even to suggest a correlation between these two facts. Anyone who has studied developmental psychology understands it.

    After reading Williamson’s fine article people might want to take a peek into Dunham’s father’s obsessions (or not) by googling Carroll Dunham images.
    Sort of explains, well, everything really.

  4. Hell no, they won’t. They’ll “celebrate” her “sexuality”, like there’s something mystical and spiritual about being a criminal pervert. These will be people wearing Che or Free Mumia tee shirts, or carrying little appetizer dogs in their purses.

Just the fact that she thinks this is all cool and funny means she ought to be horsewhipped immediately, followed by permanent incarceration due to being a psychotic menace.

  6. Okay, I don’t see a reference for the age Lena Dunham was when this was occurring.

    Bear in mind that children are both innocents and twisted little deviants all at the same time. It’s why they need actual parents: to help them sort that stuff out. It’s also why the law doesn’t prosecute them as adults. Tread carefully.

    Having written that, I’d say that clearly Miss Dunham was deprived of actual parenting in her upbringing. I’ll go out on a limb and guess that the same applied to both of her parents.

  8. You’re right, it does pretty much explain everything. Plus, that’s not art. That’s crap. I’ve seen similar garbage sketched inside the notebook covers of degenerate 6th grade boys. Looks like Dunham’s dad never emotionally matured beyond the age of 10. And the mother is an enabler. They should all be in prison, probably.

    Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Also, I thought hell had no basement. I was wrong. That’s where bigots and perverts actually congratulate each other on their status’s ironical irony… ironical.

    “We MADE it! Tee-hee-hee.”

    And brought down Western civilization cuz the fork and pen are mightier than the misogyny… or something.

  23. Both of my parents were alcoholics and my mother was bipolar, yet my childhood was a Norman Rockwell painting compared to Lena Dunham’s. In fact, my parents did a pretty good job with me–no molestation, no inappropriate sexualization at a tender age, no sense of entitlement. It just shows that good, old-fashioned dipsomania cannot hold a candle to liberalism.

  32. i agree with K-Bob, DM, and RS on this. What was her age at the time? What she did as a child,mgrowing up in that environment, may be forgivable, but what is shocking is her current lack of remorse or conscience.

  34. If Lena thought it was okay to do that stuff to her kid sister, you KNOW there was stuff being done to her. And given the “ahem” maturity of her parents, it’s not very surprising.

The most recent being Kalcen over at “The Gay Hate Machine.” They are narcissists with their own personal truth, which makes them moral relativists. Such people dominating the public culture places a civilization aboard a rocket sled on rails to the gates of hell.

  37. I forget which of his collections the remark was in, but PJ O’Rourke once wrote that to say a celebrity is a pervert, a drug addict, and degenerate is simply to have read their autobiography.

  40. Wow. I knew better than to inflict “curious” harm (or any other sort) on another person (or even animals), regardless of age, by at least age five. Same with the vast majority of kids I grew up with.

    OTOH, we had twelve and thirteen year old boys in our neighborhood who thought stomping on toads was great fun. I’m betting both spent time in prison somewhere along the way.

  41. OMG I just dared to google him. While I can’t say that I’m shocked, I can say that I am disgusted that all women are to him are gash-like vaginas. And all penises are knives. But then again when all your wife takes photos of is herself with her legs spread, I guess that’s to be expected. I can’t imagine any child growing up in that house would be normal in any way shape or form.
    And I’m sorry, but a child that was EIGHT YEARS OLD when she essentially raped her two-year-old sister should be called what she is: A rapist who knows better. No wonder her sister became lesbian. The touch of a female is all she knows. I would haul in the parents as on charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor to boot. Sweet Jesus save us from people like this. This is not what it means to be “free” in America. This is selfishness for selfishness’ sake.

Nice to see Amanda Marcotte’s only take away from Kevin Williamson’s article is that he’s resentful of people who live in Brooklyn, and not any of Dunham’s hideous behavior, and sense of entitlement. Amazing that feminists hate men so much that even when one of their own molest’s children, the “guy” is still the one who did something wrong.

  48. She is undoubtedly responsible for her younger sister’s lesbianism. I know a young women who went through the same thing at the hands of her narcissistic older sister, and emerged a full out angry dyke.
