There are several ways a man can deal effectively with feminists:

  1. Ignore them. Deprive them of the attention they seek, and watch them “rage spiral” into a swamp of hysterical self-pity;
  2. Objectify them with the male gaze. This is my favorite method, because it’s so fun. Happily married for 25 years, I’m immune to shame. It’s not as if I’m “hitting on” a radical feminist when I call her “sweetheart” or tell her how much I’ve always been fascinated by butch lesbians. Oh, please, honey, tell me more about how I’m oppressing you with my phallic supremacy.
  3. Stand your ground. Speak truth to feminist power.

Option Three is even more dangerous than Option Two, because feminists consider it “hate” to disagree with them. A guy risks all kinds of repercussions for being branded a “misogynist,” but some guys don’t give a damn. Milo Yiannopoulos writes at Breitbart.com:

GamerGate is remarkable — and attracts the interest of people like me — because it represents perhaps the first time in the last decade or more that a significant incursion has been made in the culture wars against guilt-mongerers, nannies, authoritarians and far-Left agitators.

Because hard-core gaming is overwhelmingly male — don’t believe cherry-picked statistics that tell you women now make up 50 per cent of gamers; they don’t, in any meaningful sense — and because those men are often of a stubborn, obsessive, hyper-competitive and systematic bent, it has produced an army finally capable of launching offensives against the censors — using the censors’ own tactics, such as advertiser boycotts, against them.

(Via Instapundit.) The intelligentsia will give gamers no recognition for their success , but just showing the guts to fight feminism head-on was a heroic gesture that more people should emulate.

  1. What are gamers? They are focused problem solvers who like mental challenge and competition.

    Not really a fair fight when you consider everything.

  2. Their (GamerGate) tactics especially boycotts are a template for fighting the culture wars. Many conservatives are opposed to boycotts, particularly as they are considered anti-freemarket, and a tactic of the left. Once again it’s not enough to be better than they are we MUST be BETTER AT IT than they are.

  4. It is certainly tempting to hope that the success of #GamerGate could be replicated elsewhere, but I’m not so sure. GamerGate is a harmonic convergence of a number of factors which may not carry over to other aspects of the culture. Specifically, you have a group, the vast majority of which is men. They also have and spend lots of money on what they want. The other industries and media, i.e. movies, TV, etc., to which Yiannopoulos refers by necessity cater to demographics with greater female participation, and therefore have to be more sensitive to them. That said, it doesn’t matter how many back pats the SJWs give the gaming industry, no one is going to by a video game, the object of which is to have your character curl up in a fetal position after drinking a bottle of cheap sangria, listen to Tracy Chapman albums and weep about how misogynistic society is. “Achievement Unlocked! Unlimited Free Spermicide w/ Titanium Diaphragm!”

    (Though query, where Sci-Fi fits into that? If the Sci-Fi consumers leave the larger SJW infected publishers in favor of indies writing what consumers want to read, perhaps we’ll see something similar in that industry.)

  5. The advantage that GamerGaters and to a lesser extent the Sci-Fi community have in engaging in mutually supporting self defense is they’re a relatively homogeneous Culture Cluster. This greatly facilitates unity of action. While this would be more difficult to replicate for larger more diverse groups such as ”conservatives” the speed and effectiveness of the Gamer community’s counter attack is worth emulating where possible.

  6. Is it really a “boycott” when one refuses to buy stuff that’s crap? I see boycotts as refusing to purchase something I normally would buy, but for the need to make a “political” statement. No one is going to buy crap games no matter how many SJWs scream to the heavens about the games’ social consciousness. Where the danger lies is that the SJWs desire to shut down production of things they don’t like, and reduce the “wrong” media to the status of Soviet era Samizdat, circulating from hand to furtive hand. Stated differently, boycotts mean nothing if the end desire of the SJWs is to destroy the industry in total.

  9. They didn’t just go after Gamer journos, they went after Gawker’s and other ”news/bloggger” sponsors. Several of Gawker’s corporate partners denied having been so in the first place and ”requested” their logos be removed.

  17. I don’t see this ending any time soon. The social engineers are patient for #utopia, while the video gamers are persistent for #winning. The gamers won some skirmishes using Twitter, so like the Iranian government, the feminists are making it bannable to use that platform to criticize them. I predict that #GamerGate will still be an active hash tag twenty years from now — just not on Twitter.

  19. The key would be in creating or illuminating the commonality of say hardcore gunrighters and hardcore prolifers. One the justifiable raps on the NRA by some of the newer gun rights organizations is that they only react to threats to gun rights while ignoring the wider threats to liberty. This view is myopic in that the groups threatening gun rights also threaten our other liberties. Threats to free speech are in the end equally threatening to the our right to keep and bear arms. Net neutrality is a threat to all our liberties including gun rights because it’s ultimate aim is control of speech just as the ”fairness” doctrine is. Gun rights can not be protected without free speech. Furthermore the NRA’s reluctance to fight on other issues squanders an opportunity to fight their enemies in other battles on other fronts.
    One of the reasons for the left’s success is that their various coalition members fight together even when their different groups have no common interests.

  22. You already are. Core SF authors used to dominate book sales. Today it’s not unusual to see the top 100 in SFF at Amazon have not one single SJW author on the list. It’s no surprise someone stupid enough to buy into gender feminist supremacy and call their racism and bigotry “social justice” isn’t smart enough to write an entertaining book. Even if they could, checking all the right boxes would strip it of any normal fun. One SF author wrote as his hero a Nigerian lesbian and her girlfriend. People laughed at him and he complained they were homophobes and racists. No, they were just laughing at him for eating PC FemPie in big chunks.

  29. I’m not in favor of boycotts. Having said that, I can’t imagine Americans patronizing SFF novels written by KKK. It runs against their grain. So there may be a fine line between boycott and marginalizing a group. Hate speech isn’t hard to fathom. We just have to stop giving gays, women and non-whites who happen to be bigoted a pass because they’re “punching up” or claim to speak for all gays, women and non-whites. By using the idiotic idea of power determining racism, the Nazis weren’t racists until they came to power and the KKK and neo-Nazis of America aren’t racists because they’ve been marginalized. We all know SJWs have a double standard for that stuff and – surprise – it’s determined by race and gender. Gender feminists are not only insane, they and their SJW “allies” lie as often as they breathe. Hate speech is hate speech. Let’s use a baseball strike zone and Devil take the hindmost who strikes out.

  36. The right has to be willing to boycott, and keep money and jobs within the right. They will lose if they don’t, it is that simple.

    That “it is against my morals” is horseshit.

  37. The right has to get used to the idea that they have to use every tool at their disposal. That includes, boycotts, email campaigns, sock puppet accounts on social media, hire only practices, and outright slandering your opponents at every turn.

    The right is so used to conducting battle like the Brits in the beginning of the Revolutionary war. Sorry, but that is the honest truth. The left has been doing that for 50 years, and they are steam rolling the right.

Given that inappropriate “appropriation” of another’s culture is now a fad among the perpetually aggrieved, perhaps we can start denouncing lesbians’ and feminists’ appropriation of male haircuts and wearing apparel. That doesn’t even begin to address the appropriation of things like bicycles, polio vaccine, and the apartments where they keep their 300 cats.

  42. I’m glad that I’m not the only person who sees it that way. A lot of people on the right are so worried about holding “the moral high ground” that they’ll accept defeat in order to keep from losing it.

    This is a fight and no fight was ever won because one side was “nicer” than the other.

In fact those authors and those in the Women Destroy Science Fiction anthology featured write openly anti-male, anti-white typical gender feminist bullshit about “cis white dudes.” But let me bat a frickin’ eyelash and I’m a misogynist. Forget what I’d be if I obsessively wrote about “homo black broads.” No, no, I can’t even wear a shirt.

    One of the featured authors, the multiple award-winning Ann Leckie, has “white straight cis guy,” “white straight cis guys,” “non-white, non-cis, non-straight, non-guys,” “white straight cis guys,” “white straight cis guys,” “white, straight, cis dude” used in an insulting pejorative all in one post on her blog alone!!!

    Not only that, it’s an analogy that America is like a restaurant where white men are like waiters who randomly punch women, gays and non-whites in the face.

    So go right out and buy that loving SF. Then bang your head against a wall.

    Let’s call these gender feminists what they are: a racist man-hating supremacist cult of paranoid lunatics.

  50. The SJWs attacked gamers because they thought they would be an easy target. That was a world-class fuck up.
    SJW’s primary weapon is social ostracism, but gamers are already socially ostracized and are irritable about it, too. On top of that, they are a group self-selected for analytical ability and developing winning strategies.
    Gamers in this sense, and THIS SENSE ONLY, are like terrorists: it is extremely difficult to stop someone who is motivated and has nothing to lose.
    If that description is accurate, then you can forget about trying to broadly replicate this phenomenon in other demographics. All the “squares” are well-adjusted, and have something to lose.
