UPDATED: MUSLIM TERRORISTS ATTACK MAGAZINE OFFICE IN PARIS, KILL 12; AL-QAEDA IN YEMEN?

At least 12 people were reportedly killed when Islamic terrorists with AK-47 assault rifles attacked the Paris offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo today:

One of the men was captured on video shouting “Allah!” as four shots rang out. . . .
“This is a terrorist attack, there is no doubt about it,” President Francois Hollande told reporters after rushing to the scene of the attack. . . .
Sirens could be heard across Paris as Prime Minister Manuel Valls said security would be ramped up at transport hubs, religious sites, media offices and department stores. . . .
Late last year, a man shouting “Allahu Akbar” (“God is greatest”) injured 13 by ramming a vehicle into a crowd in the eastern city of Dijon. French officials say several attacks were prevented in recent weeks and Valls has said France had “never before faced such a high threat linked to terrorism.”

This is the same magazine whose offices were fire-bombed in 2011 for publishing cartoons about the Prophet Mohammad. The terrorist gunmen are reportedly still at large.

UPDATE: “We are all Charlie now.”

If only the National Rifle Association hadn’t stopped France from closing the “gun show loophole” . . .

UPDATE II: An interesting claim:

Two terrorists shouted that they were from al Qaeda in the Yemen before they launched the brutal attack on Charlie Hebdo in Paris.
Cédric Le Béchec, a 33-year-old estate agent who witnessed the attack on the satirical magazine, said the men told bystanders to inform the media that they were from the terror group.
He said that the men arrived in a black car, stopping in the middle of the street. One of them was carrying a rocket-propelled grenade. They were dressed in black military-style clothing.
Mr Le Béchec said that before launching the assault, the attackers approached another man in the street saying, “Tell the media that this is al-Qaeda in the Yemen.”

It is never wise to jump to conclusions based on early reports in a breaking news situation like this. But if this report is accurate, why do Yemeni Muslims hate French journalists?

That is to say, of all the places in the world where these terrorists could have struck, why Paris? Was this simply a target of convenience, some place nearby where these Muslims lived? I have no idea what the French policy is vis-a-vis Yemen, but this attack would seem to invite the question of whether Islamic terrorists give a damn about any nation’s policy. Muslims want to kill us all and destroy our civilization, and we should never make the mistake of thinking that our government policy is to blame for Islam’s murderous hostility toward us.

  2. I was in Germany in the late 70’s and remember the Turks as being well behaved. Half the cab drivers were Turks and almost all of the food venders that came on base were Turks. Hell, they had to know at least two extra languages, German and English, to be able to work and communicate..

  4. If you work for yourself, like I do, you never have those pesky, “day off” thingies. They just cause trouble.

    But I saw the word “welcome” in your comment and I immediately thought, “Yeah, like Adolph ‘welcomed’ the Poles to join up.” I figured, “Either Mike is in a very laid-back sort of mood, or he’s one seriously sarcastic b*stard!”

    I am basically a superintendent subcontractor, so in essence, I work for myself in a way. A job is offered and I have the option to turn it down, but I don’t make a habit of turning down work, lol.

  8. One reason Germany has escaped the problems seen in the UK and France is Germany was never a major colonial power. The colonies it did have, e.g. Tanganyika, SW Africa, were taken from them long enough ago that relationships were lost, and there was never any incentive for immigration to the homeland from the colonies so Germany was not swamped with its version of UK’s “ethnics” who cause so much trouble there.
    At one time when you immigrated from a colony to the UK, you learned to fit in or you left. The Brits had a racial confidence that other countries didn’t have and if you didn’t like it there, you could bloody well leave. That confidence is now gone, as it is in France, and so the problems. The problems have been creeping into Germany as well.

  10. Giving bruce lorraine the benefit of the doubt (and a big thumbs up on his avatar) I’ll assume his citation of 750 no go zones in Europe indicates he’s done some research.
    I’m not aware of any no go zones in this country yet but have no doubt, despite your persistent, if not borderline obsessive defense of your local Bosnian Muslim community, that there will be no go zones in this country. It’s only a matter of time. Have you considered the possibility that your local community is the lone exception that proves the rule?

  17. What’s borderline obsessive about it? I see comments arguing for tossing all Muslims out of the country or worse, “acting on a reality” whatever that means. I could jump on that bandwagon, I suppose and condemn them all for no reason.

    That’s not been my observation here for twenty years. I’ll not treat them with suspicion for no reason. When something bad happens and they’re responsible, I’ll condemn them. Until then, I’ll demand evidence of perfidy.

    BTW, Change “your local community” in your last sentence to “UVA fraternity Phi Kappa Psi.” In other words, “well, those frat people didn’t do anything but that’s the exception that proves the rule. What “rule” are we talking about?

  18. During the Algerian Civil War in the 1950’s and 60’s, the French paratroopers and secret services brought hell down on the jihadis. The things we fantasize about in thriller novels, like bullets dipped in pork, were the sort of things the French did. These Muslim subhumans are going to create that kind of backlash again.

  21. Not only have most EU nations allowed and even invited massive immigration from muslim countries, but they all have free travel between them, making radicals even harder to track. So, yes, they will be paying a price for a long time.

    Your assertion that expelling all Muslims would be patently unfair to many of them is absolutely correct. Not sure what your point was though, are you suggesting we let some of them convert, or perhaps that we expel TWANLOC first?

  44. I was in the K-Town, Kiaserslautern, area. There was a rather large military presence in the area, Army and Air Force.

  45. It’s worth remembering what happened to the pieds noirs and Algerian muslims who fought to keep Algeria French after DeGaulle sold them out.
