Oh No: Rachel Marie Stone Caught At Christianity Today Wielding An Airbrush

by Smitty

“I do not mean to excuse Sanger for holding these views, but I do want to give the charge of ‘eugenicist’ a more complete background,” writes Stone as she chooses to give a selective background of the inarguably racist, elitist and anti-Christian worldview of one of the leading members of the American Eugenics Society. (If she wanted a more complete background, she could easily have watched Maafa21 and gotten a thorough perspective on the mother of Planned Parenthood.) Instead, she proudly tweeted: “I am @amyjuliabecker’s blog today, defending #MargaretSanger and talking about how #birthcontrol saves lives.” (Thanks to SaynSumthn blog for screen grabbing the tweet!) Stone has since removed the tweet and later claimed she was never trying to defend Margaret Sanger.

  1. This is a modern media paradox I call “Schrödinger’s Eugenecist” wherein Sanger may be simultaneously both a bitter pro-abort eugenicist hag and a normal person.

  2. Because Christianity Today has been a vehicle of the Ecumenical Left for about as long as I’ve been a Christian.

  3. I actually spend quite a bit of time talking about Sanger and her views, and how popular Fascism was on the American left when I teach about the Progressives in my high school History class. Of course none of the students were aware of any of it. The Black students are shocked when I give them the facts about abortion. I flat out tell them, there is no need for the KKK today, because Black women are eradicating the Black race in the womb, and Black teenagers are killing each other in the streets.

  4. Also, the Progressive hero, Woodrow Wilson, approved of segregating black federal employees and keeping them segregated in the military least they learn how to use guns.

Historical tidbits rarely known or acknowledged by the Left.

  5. Christianity Today went off the theological rails thirty years ago. Consequently, the publishing of an article such as this is not surprising to anyone who has been paying attention.

  6. “Schrödinger’s Eugenecist”

I’d give more than one upvote for this if I could. First, the proper use of the umlaut. Second, the reference to quantum mechanics. Third, the analogy.

    Well and nobly done.

  7. because it’s a bit condescending for blacks to have their problems explained to them by the white middle class. Let’s call that(if it’s not already)whitesplaining.

  8. I see, so the truth is now “condescending”–amazing how the language gets warped, mutilated, and spindled by what is, I’m sure, totally uninterested* actors such as yourself, eh?

*Except for being totally interested in continuing the defenestration of your fellow Americans, of course…but i guess that’d be “condescending” of me to point out.

  9. Progressive hero? the history of that era shows the left very much opposed Wilson over getting us involved in World War 1. Wilson also allowed a central bank to be created and dominate our economic policy which lead to the Great Depression. Doesn’t sound very progressive to me.

  10. The truth isn’t condescending. What’s condescending is having it told to you by people who have no real idea what your personal experience is like.

  11. Associating the views of Margaret Sanger with modern abortion practices and contraception is what we call a genealogical fallacy.

  12. You’re not too keen on history, are you?

Wilson was considered the leader of the Progressive movement in his day — the basic tenet of which is “positive governmentalism”. A strong, centralized government that both decides and take actions to enforce what IT feels is best for the hoi polloi. The State knows how best to run your life for you.

That basic tenet of Progressivism hasn’t changed, even as some of what they consider “best” has. Same house, different furniture.

  13. So black children should only be taught by black teachers — indeed, black middle class children should be taught by black teachers who were raised in middle class homes; poor black children, etc.

    How segregationist of you!

  14. Considering that PP disproportionately sets up its abortion facilities in black communities, attempting to dismiss or Bowdlerize the founder’s views is disingenuous.

  15. Because people in poor black communities need free clinics more than others. Its not because Planned Parenthood is trying to exterminate black people. Hello!?!?

  16. And there is little argument that Wilson was opposed by the large swaths of the left, especially the socialist movement and people like John Reed, and Emma Goldman, who were opposed to the war.

  17. I didn’t say “taught”, but there is something highly offensive, and yes condescending when white people start telling black people what problems they and their community face and what they should do about it.

  18. sure, keep telling yourself that.

    That’s the ticket.

(there are MORE poor white people than black people, but the proportional abortion rates are dramatically different.)

  19. Wilson was re-elected as the “man who kept us out of war”.

Leftism is the most dynamic religion of the 20th & 21st century. A sectarian squabble doesn’t change the basic belief system.

  20. Ah, so historical & current facts are “condescending” due to level of melanin in the speaker.

(& gahrie never said he told them what they “should do”)

Why are you so obsessed with “race” purity?

  21. And ultimately, when you subordinate truth and facts to the identity of the speaker–or melanin level, if you prefer–you are engaging in the most obvious ad hominem attacks available.

  22. If black people are going to have a bizarre protest where they sit and stare at white people who are eating brunch, then they clearly DO want white people to fix their problems for them.

  23. Sounds reasonable to me. Sounds like actual education, so I’m perplexed about why the local Childhood Indoctrination Center is letting you teach real knowledge. Who’d have seen that coming?

  24. *Obligatory downtwinkles*
You know eventually the underclasses of every stripe will figure out that it’s always been people like you playing them.

  25. They didn’t oppose him in 1913 when the fed was formed. Running as the guy who kept us out of war and then getting a declaration of war just one month later will piss off a few supporters. Especially dreamers like Reed. Lenin came to be opposed by ”large swaths of the left” too,

  26. That is just straight-up cultural marxism for you to de-legitimize an individual’s words based on your perception of a class that they belong to. Oh, and it’s also racist.
