Remember Lilly the Human Train Wreck, the mentally ill feminist Tumblr blogger who filed a federal complaint against her university? She did not like being quoted on my blog:
Check it out. He “wrote an article” on me. He victim blames me the entire time. He hates that I am bi. He thinks I’m insane since I have mental illnesses.
We need to get him off the internet.
https://twitter.com/rsmccain This is his twitter.
Please report him for harassing me!!! And report other abusive things he says to or about other people.
I’m “harassing” her? By quoting her?
Lilly: You’re living inside a bubble, an ideological echo chamber. Being surrounded by like-minded idiots is not therapeutic.
UPDATE: Lilly’s supporters are, quite literally, hysterical:
Reading his article sent me into a panic attack . . . He has NO. FUCKING. RIGHT. I can’t even handle that people like that are out there. I honestly just don’t even want to stick around in a life that has people like him. I am so sorry you are having to deal with this.
They don’t even want to live in the same world with me.
UPDATE II: Wisdom from Gunga in the comments below:
It’s kinda funny how nothing quite makes these special snowflakes as bunny-boiling mad as quoting their own words. On the other hand, ‘People quoting me accurately makes me so angry,’ does seem like something a mentally ill person might say.
The thing is, feminism is a No-Judgment Zone. This was one of the principles of feminist “consciousness-raising” back in the 1960s and ’70s: “Everybody share their private experiences and innermost feelings, because sisterhood is powerful. And no judgment, ever.” What nobody warned them is that this is a technique of brainwashing and mind-control, used by religious cults and totalitarian movements as a way of forming a collectivist mentality by breaking down the individual personality. The leaders and facilitators of this process (the people who organized “consciousness raising” back in the day, and who now teach Women’s Studies classes) understand what they are doing, whereas the typical college kid is not sophisticated enough to realize what is happening or why it is happening. Once a vulnerable person is exposed to that kind psychological indoctrination, they are induced to see the surrounding world as hostile and oppressive. This suspicious attitude toward “society” fosters a sort of paranoia, and the only secure refuge from such psychic pain is among fellow True Believers.
This is why feminists freak out when you quote their words in a critical context. They have been taught to fear common sense.
In a Venn diagram where Set A is "young feminists" and Set B is "people being treated for mental illness," how large an overlap is Set AB?

I should write a book, "Stupid Things Young Fools Should Not Do." I was once a young fool, as were my friends, not all of whom survived.
— Robert Stacy McCain (@rsmccain) June 8, 2015
She said, “He thinks I’m insane since I have mental illnesses.”
I rest my case.
I gotta hit the tip jar for that one. Best quote EVER.
Lilly says she is all about women’s rights and then quotes Hillary Clinton?

She’s got crazy eyes. You can see it right there. And you’d HAVE to actually be crazy to support a woman with no real accomplishments (well, maybe bad ones), and no qualifications (unless lies constitute quals).
And wait, I have more:
RSM said, “Lilly: You’re living inside a bubble, an ideological echo chamber.”
LILLY….lilly…lilly…ily…
TAKE YER MEDS…meds…meds…eds…
THIS IS PROBABLY NOT THE VOICES IN YOUR HEAD…your head…ur head…head…ead…
Seriously girl, when normal, decent, educated, mature people start telling you that you have problems, you DO. You need some psychiatric medication to help you with your thought control, and some therapy. This is nothing to be ashamed of! But it IS shameful to need some medical assistance and not get it! It’s like having skin cancer, everyone seeing it, warning you, and you doing nothing.
Get help from qualifed professionals, and you can live like a regular person.
I lost it at that line.
This girl is demented. She refused to let the school investigate her case, and then when they did and cleared the young man she threw a fit and decided to sue the school for the investigation! Then the school advises she seek drug and alcohol counseling but she claims it’s a punishment, doesn’t go, and then quits school! Holy shit!
I know, right? Whatever happens to Lilly, it’s never Lilly’s responsibility. Always someone else is to blame.
I’m honestly backtracking and trying to figure out exactly when “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me” became “I honestly just don’t even want to stick around in a life that has people like him.” For the love of God, when did it become so permissible to be such WIMPS?
It’s Gen Wuss.
Whats really frightening though is that Huffington Post put her out there like some victim of the university, too. It’s almost like they have an agenda or something!
Not all of them. There are plenty of kids out there working or carrying a rifle in Afghanistan who aren’t screwed up like this,
Well that’s true. But there’s always a portion who are trancendent. I think we’ll find a difference in parenting between the ones who are, and the ones who aren’t.
“Reading his article sent me into a panic attack . . . He has NO. FUCKING. RIGHT. I can’t even handle that people like that are out there. I honestly just don’t even want to stick around in a life that has people like him…”
A complete lack of self awareness is apparently a boon (for example, from whence derives this “FUCKING RIGHT” nobody has to notice or quote people online and why does she then have it in the other direction?). Sadly I do not possess this boon and thus am forced to assume responsibility for myself.
I have read things I haven’t liked. Also heard and seen some. And met people I did not like. In no case, ever, have I collapsed into a weeping puddle of pathetic goo. So what grants me this power? Incidentally, I consider this apparently superhuman ability to be the minimum level required. Setting the bar to high, am I?
The obvious answer is “white male privilege.” Let’s drop the privilege part because privilege does not grant a person strength. Holding the keys to the universe does not make me stronger. We’re left with the white male part. Just as a basic ironclad indisputable tenet of leftism is that black and brown people are stupid and incompetent, a similar bedrock principle of feminism is that women are stupid, incompetent and in addition, weak and fragile. It is not privilege that enables me to face something disagreeable and continue to function. A feminist must admit that it is my maleness that does that.
So having to face this undeniable example of my superior strength, why not examine from whence it comes and try to adopt it? I know that there are some people who look up to those with talents and skills greater than theirs and do what they can to improve their own. I know this because I am one of them. When I played racketball I tried to find opponents better than I was because it made me better. When at the shooting range I look for those with better scores and watch what they do, try to pick up some pointers. Why cannot these women compare their own inability to function with my obviously superior competence and try to up their game? They could at least try, but they give up and don’t even want to share the same planet with me…
What is it about being helpless and inept that is so secure for them? Where do they expect to find “safe spaces” in real life to hide from people like myself and the vile Robert Stacy McCain (because face it, sweetheart, there are people much worse than the two of us “in life”)? What kind of existence are they preparing for themselves, where every day is a minefield of disabling triggers and the most trivial items must be made into insurmountable obstacles?
I am on the same planet they are, and so far I think it’s pretty good. I have the same weather and laws of physics to contend with, the same economic and social environment, and many more years of experience. And it’s not bad at all. I would suspect that I have more good days in one month than these people typically will have in their entire lives. Yeah, white male privilege.
Apparently sniveling is now a superpower.
Even a paranoid sociopath like Rodham can say something true. I’m willing to overlook the messenger there, if Lilly is willing to admit that men’s rights are human rights too.
Straight from the horse’s mouth they admit they don’t have the coping skills to live as mature adults and deal with viewpoints that may not only be different to theirs, but often hostile. If I were the sensitive sort, every bit of sh-t from the mouth of a leftist would trigger me into a murderous rage.
Wow… just wow.
I am, like, sooooo literally triggered right now. Literally.
Millenials: the only thing I want to hear from you is “here’s your coffee, sir”.
Witches nose and flat as an ironing board. WNB.
Our host quoted:
Did she commit suicide? If not, then mustn’t we assume that her words were hyperbole?
You cannot be an Accredited Victim if you bear any responsibility for your own life or condition.
I’ve often wondered why video gamers are almost always boys.
I finally figured it out!
THIS is what girls do instead: The overblown melodrama of fighting the entire world. You’re constantly under attack from armies of super-powered enemies who have stomped their evil empire’s jack boot on the very vagina of your Mother-world, and all you have to fight back with is a tiny, scattered, ragtag resistance force huddled in caves and “safe spaces,” and constantly on the run… and the only shield you have is the mattress you carry around!
It’s a huge, never-ending immersion game that is soooooo real it’ll blow yer mind! (It used to be low-tech, sort of like a female version of D&D, but the advent of the internet took up to a new level.)
“This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Amanda Marcotte. You’re my only hope!”
Our esteemed host mocked:
No, no, no, you harassed her by bringing her words out from the darkness and exposing them to the eyes of people who were not wholly sympathetic, meaning, of course, people who weren’t just as batshit crazy as she is.
She’s experiencing the horror that the internet has no safe spaces.
It’s like they all thought they’d get together in their support group and discovered that there’s no door on the room at the community center, and anyone can walk by and hear their weeping.
I’d tell this chick to grow the f*ck up, but she doesn’t even seem capable of that.
She’s a lost cause, I’m afraid….
Who is she kidding? She loves the attention. People who cloak themselves in the mantel of “victim” do so in order to have other people notice them. It’s a manner of receiving notoriety without real achievement. With the advent of the internet, these people now have a cheap forum to inflict themselves on the rest of the world.
And it’s a perfect racket. Ignore her, and you’re a callous cad; pay attention to her and you’re a callous cad. Either way, she gets a blog post and a few hundred laudatory “likes” or whatever. Make no mistake. She’s secretly hoping McCain writes a few more posts about her.
This:
The wholly uncomfortable fact is that life has no safe spaces. This lovely young lady has been reduced to tears by the fact that someone, hundreds of miles away from her, quoted her words, and was uncouth enough to point out exactly what they meant. Our host wasn’t outside her door, waiting to knock her upside the head and rape her, or wasn’t stealing her purse or burgling her apartment, but, though critical of her whinings, posed absolutely no real danger to her.
It could he held that our host was mean, mean! to her, by pointing out the rather obvious differences between her world and real life, but, if he hadn’t, real life would have found some other way to intrude; in the end, it always does.
This is our host’s real point: living in an imaginary world does not mean that you have escaped the real world, even if you are a Special Snowflake.™
Putting everything out on the internet seems pretty self-destructive to me, right up there with binge drinking and going to bed with strangers. I’d never do that, not if I ever wanted to get another good job.
I’m sensing some real self-loathing, and the internet is the last place to go for resolving that. Actually, it’s not even on the list.
Yes, that quote was worth the price of admission.
At the same time, the truth is, “he knows she’s insane because she wears her alleged mental illness like a badge of honor … and used it as the proof of her moral superiority”
Well, we could also go with “lies”
“I’m more pathetic than you are!”
“No way! I’m way more lame than you!”
“Nuh uh! I have depression, insomnia and anxiety!”
“Oh yeah? I have bipolar disorder!”
“That’s not what your doctor said! He said there’s nothing wrong with you!”
“Take that back, hater! Mom!”
No no no… as a great man has said “merely corroborative detail, intended to lend artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.”
In the Navy we had an acronym, DILLIGAFF.
Do I Look Like I Give A Flying F*ck?
She was not born when it was coined, but she is nonetheless the reason for it.
Oh, God. I’d like to believe you are being sarcastic. Perhaps you think you are. But what is an SJW without a war to fight? Even if it exists only between your own ears?
But that’s why feminists won’t shut up about Rape Culture. Because since all the big fights have been won, all they have left is getting mad because some guy held a door for them.
If Robert Stacy McCain did not exist it would be necessary to invent him.
What happens when she learns that there are worse things in life than being quoted on the internet?
LOL. Exactly.
Yeah, she’s pretty much found herself the modern equivalent of playing in traffic. And lacks the self awareness to realize that she’s throwing her tantrums in public.
And then along comes this mean old McCain guy and quotes her words! The horror!
Histrionic personality disorder. It seems to be much more common than I would have expected. In fact, in the world of feminism it might just be mandatory.
Thing is, she desperately wants, at some sick level, needs to be a victim. It she has to pile up the faggots, lash herself to the stake, and light the match herself, then damn it, that’s what she will do.
I am dead serious.
I think their role-playing game of victim fills the same gap that D&D serves for nerdy males. But it’s far more dangerous, because it has no down time. It rapidly becomes a 24/7 road to madness.
If you were to meet a person who said, in effect, “The whole world’s screwed up except for me!” you’d smile disarmingly, nod, and carefully sidle away.
This person has found a whole group of people who respond with “ZOMG! I know, right?”
Linear time is an illusion anyhow.
The phrase was invented for her.
If you have not, I recommend Rona Jaffee’s Mazes and Monsters. It started from the media frenzy about kids getting so wrapped up in D&D that they committed murders or became insane. While researching one such story Jaffee discovered that it was false, but decided that it would make a good novel.
And it does. A collection of insecure college students meet and find validation in a D&D analogue. It’s all healthy social interaction for them, save for one damaged personality who finds his fantasy world better than the real one.
It’s kinda funny how nothing quite makes these special snowflakes as
bunny-boiling mad as quoting their own words… On the other hand,
‘People quoting me accurately makes me so angry,’ does seem like
something a mentally ill person might say…
I used to think the left was kinda nuts…in a joking sort of way. Now that their semi-official rally cry is : ‘Listen to me, I have a mental illness!’…I’ve started to wonder if I wasn’t being generous…
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.
– Ford Prefect
Yeah, so I am hater, but “I am dysfunctional so you must listen to me” doesn’t quite inspire confidence.
And “I’m mentally ill, so let me take the steering wheel of the culture” doesn’t do much more.
It’s like they are playing King of the Hill on Crazy Mountain…
“I honestly just don’t even want to stick around in a life that has people like him.”
I have a suggestion for you, then.
“Mental wounds not healing
Life’s a bitter shame
I’m going off the rails on a…” something something (words modified to prevent “triggering”)
“I honestly just don’t even want to stick around in a life that has people like him.”
Apparently she doesn’t mind sticking around in a life that has ISIS and Boko Haram in it.
Where the hell is Nurse Ratchet when ya need her?
