‘Feminist Motherhood Has Failed’

Only a feminist could describe pregnancy as “a woman growing the parasitic entity of a fetus in her,” and there is no limit to a radical lesbian feminist blogger’s absolute hatred of motherhood:

Motherhood is at the heart of patriarchy. Patriarchy, the rule of the fathers, is impossible without mothers who make them fathers in the first place.
Mothers have sex with men or at the very least obtain sperm from men to become pregnant.
Mothers give birth to the next generation of men.
Mothers choose men and boys over women and girls.
Mothers raise the next generation of men, pouring endless energy and devotion into the task.
Mothers raise their daughters to become mothers as well and teach them to pick men over other women.
Mothers, on the other hand, have failed gloriously to raise “new men”: Patriarchy is alive and kicking, and men contribute to it and benefit from it as ever.
Mothers do exactly what patriarchy wants them to do.

You can read the whole thing. She attempts to organize her thoughts in outline form, but it is a rather disjointed argument. What I found most interesting was this series of assertions:

5. Motherhood Undermines Female Solidarity
5. 1. Mothers Choose Their Sons Over Women
5. 2. Mothers Choose Their Men Over Women
5. 3. Lesbian Families Promote Hetero Families
6. “Feminist Motherhood” Has Failed
6. 1. Feminists Failed To Raise “Better Sons”
6. 2. Lesbians Fail To Raise “Better Sons”

She writes, “At this point in history, there are two, maybe three generations who were raised by mothers with a certain feminist consciousness. A good portion of these mothers would even be actively feminist in one way or the other.” And yet, you see, young women in the 21st-century insist they are still oppressed by patriarchy.

Why should this be so? Three alternative hypotheses:

  1. The “oppressive patriarchy” is a myth — Human nature is what it is, and what feminists denounce as “male supremacy” is simply the natural form of society created by biological imperatives, rather than a male conspiracy that systematically seeks to subjugate women for political purposes. Thus, “feminist motherhood” fails because human behavior tends to deviate toward the norm, so that most males will be masculine and most females will be feminine, no matter how consciously “gender-neutral” they may be raised.
  2. Differential fertility matters — It may be true that, more than 40 years after the eruption of the Women’s Liberation movement, young people in the 21st century are the third generation “raised by mothers with a certain feminist consciousness.” However, feminist rhetoric and ideology have been so consistently hostile to marriage and motherhood that there is likely an inverse correlation between women’s “feminist consciousness” and the number of children they have. The more a woman embraces feminism, the less likely she is to marry or have children, while the women most likely to have large families are religious conservatives who reject feminist ideology altogether. This factor operates on a global scale. Even if a majority of women in industrial societies embrace “feminist consciousness” — thus inexorably reducing birth rates — in the next generation, their societies will experience an influx of immigrants from societies with higher birth rates (and less “feminist consciousness”). We see how this operates, for example, in phenomena like the “Rotherham Horror,” where girls from the English underclass were victimized by the sons of Muslim immigrants. Because feminism is largely a middle-class ideology, it had no meaningful influence on poor white girls raised in England’s public-housing projects, nor on young men raised with the sexist attitudes of their Pakistani parents. What can feminists say about the outcome — hundreds of English girls raped and prostituted by gangs of predatory immigrant men — except perhaps, “Oops“?
  3. Feminists aren’t as smart as they think they are — Their claim that “gender is a social construct,” which is used to justify constant activism to fight against “sexism” in society, is a hypothesis that has been accepted on the basis of largely theoretical arguments. The radical lesbian feminist blogger makes note (6. 1. Feminists Failed To Raise “Better Sons”) of a case that I have myself noted: Tobi Hill-Meyer, the son of lesbian feminists who grew up to be a transgender pornographer. And there are even children of lesbian couples who have grown up to be conservative Christian opponents of same-sex marriage. Feminists have arrogantly assumed that their ideology endows them with superior wisdom, and that traditionalists are all just ignorant bigots. Well, these claims are subject to empirical proof, which can only be gathered over the course of decades, as we compare socioeconomic outcomes between generations of children raised with different values.

My belief is that what can be called “neo-traditionalism” — basically old-fashioned ideas about family life, yet providing sufficient flexibility to permit parents and children to adapt successfully to a changing society — will prove to be the superior strategy for child-rearing in the 21s century. This is what feminists, with their rigid concepts of men and women as collective groups in hostile opposition, completely fail to understand.

Parents are profoundly concerned with the well-being of their own children, which is not the same as a concern for “children” as an abstract group. In the same way, most mothers are not concerned with whether feminism succeeds in bringing about “equality” in some general way; rather, most mothers are concerned with how feminism will affect the lives of their own sons and daughters. However much any woman may embrace or reject feminist ideology, as a mother she will naturally place the interests of her own children above every other concern. She wants her children to be successful and happy and, we may presume, she hopes some day that her children will have their own children, because being a grandmother is the best thing in the whole world.

OK, maybe you don’t think being a grandmother is the best thing in the whole world, but in that case you’re wrong. Just ask my wife, because my wife is never wrong about anything. Our second grandson, Alexander, was born yesterday evening, weighing 7 pounds, 13 ounces. Baby and mother are both fine and healthy. Our first grandson James stayed with us overnight, and today we’ll all be going to the hospital to greet the latest addition to the (oppressive heteropatriarchal) McCain family.

You should hit the tip jar. Not only will it make my wife happy — and making her happy is Job Number One — but every time you hit the tip jar, you make a feminist sad, because “Motherhood is at the heart of patriarchy,” and “Patriarchy is alive and kicking.”

  1. Motherhood is at the heart of patriarchy.

Sure, why not? Who doesn’t love their mother?

So if motherhood is at the heart of patriarchy, then women are the heart of patriarchy. So it’s a bit silly to accuse patriarchy of being woman-hating.

    QED.

  2. You can read the whole thing.

I’m going to need to drink a lot more before reading that if I don’t want to have my Labor Day ruined.

  3. Congrats on the new grandson.

One of the problems the radfems will encounter with the increasing demonization of males on colleges campuses, is that every one of those young men accused of rape has a mother who will fight to the death for her son if she believes he’s being wrongfully attacked.

Second, I note the assertion that motherhood undermines female solidarity. It’s, of course, patently absurd, inasmuch as motherhood is the basis for solidarity among females

  4. Congratulations on the new little one! This is one of the things that really puts me off about feminism. Motherhood and having babies in general is the mechanism whereby the human race continues on into future generations. To reject it is to stagnate and die. It shows a very narrow-minded view of the status quo and a very self-centered view of one’s own place in the human race. No one feminist is important enough to overcome the significance of the children that could potentially carry on after her. This is a fact that no amount of insane feminism can undermine.

A movement that honestly cared about the promotion of women’s interests in society would be far more supportive of motherhood.

  5. “… the assertion that motherhood undermines female solidarity.”

What this actually expresses is (a) the extent to which feminists are alienated from their own mothers, and (b) how feminist hostility toward motherhood reflects a general antisocial attitude.

As to (a) many times, I see guys accuse feminists of having “daddy issues,” when most feminists have much worse “mommy issues.” A woman like Amanda Marcotte clearly views her own mother as an unworthy role model, which is why Marcotte is so hostile to becoming a mother herself.

As to (b) women who have good social skills — women who are popular and generally likeable — have no incentive to become feminists. The likeable, popular woman is usually able to get along with her parents. She has plenty of friends, is successful in school (bother socially and academically) and can navigate romantic relationships without any particular difficulty. It is the woman with an antisocial personality — resentful, suspicious, hostile, rebellious, alienated, envious — who is naturally attracted to feminism, an ideology that tells her she is not to blame for her own disappointments and misfortune, and which offers her validation in her desire to enact a sadistic revenge against a “society” she blames for her unhappiness.

The angry lesbian feminist is an extreme example of this tendency, viewing motherhood as antithethical to “female solidarity” for the simple reason that she herself is unwilling or unable to participate in this normal form of female biological behavior.

  6. Isn’t it awesome? Anybody who buys into the “youth culture” idea that young people have all the fun has never had the fun of being a grandparent.

  7. When I read the feminist writing you find I’m reminded of Quigley’s phrase of “an idea only acceptable to the academic and doctrinaire”, although he wasn’t speaking of feminism I believe the phrase is appropriate.

What on earth motivates people to have such a bizarre outlook on life?

Sure some could be influenced by foundation money, if they stop the feminist dialogue and indoctrination the grants may evaporate and they’ll be flipping burgers with a PhD in Womyns Studies.

But there has to be something else driving such a hatred of human nature and a love of the perpetual unrest which feminism promotes.

Since I lack the eloquence of our host, I’ll leave you with a quote from Boethius

… For when the mind turns its eyes from the light of truth on high to lower darkness, soon they are dimmed by the clouds of ignorance, and become turbid through ruinous passions; by yielding to these passions and consenting to them, men increase the slavery which they have brought upon themselves, and their true liberty is lost in captivity. But God, looking upon all out of the infinite, perceives the views of Providence, and disposes each as its destiny has already fated for it according to its merits: “He looketh over all and heareth all”. [A phrase from Homer (Iliad, iii. 277, and
    Odyssey, xi. 109)] …

  8. Congrats on the grandson!

So feminist crazy chick is saying she was a parasite at one point in her existence. Ok.

Also, deranged chick and her fellow radfems are only here because of motherhood and the patriarchy oppressing motherhood onto helpless females, right? So once they put an end to this great patriarchal evil, voila, no more feminists, right?

(I know this is obvious to all sane people of minimal intelligence, but I don’t think they ever go this far and put two and two together. Or maybe their man hatred is so great they are willing to destroy themselves as long as they smash the patriarchy! )

Oh, and good luck to the one who wants to put men in camps. Good luck in subduing men and fighting off the women who will take you down for trying to mess with their fathers, husbands, brothers, sons, and male relatives and friends.

  9. BTW, let us recall the myth of the origin of the goddess Athena, who sprang fully formed and clothed in armor from the head of Zeus. Her more masculine personality and denial of her own feminine self is explained because she did not have a mother’s care, but rather was nurtured during her gestation solely by Zeus, her father. I leave it to the reader to draw whatever parallels s/he wishes with modern Feminism.

  10. The classic way hate speech is mainstreamed is by divorcing such speech from the ramifications of its specific dogma and its origins and presenting it to the public as “social justice” and “anti-oppression.” How many Jews died because Europeans swallowed that pill of stupid?

Fast forward to today and the science fiction community. An SF novel called Ancillary Justice is written by a woman who equates immorality with “white cis dudes” in her non-fiction remarks. The novel is about “genderblindness” and is given an historic awards status. The reason for that is everything McCain just outlined above was stripped out and presented as “It’s a Good Thing.” Next stop: cornfields.

  11. That is the interesting thing, how much loathing feminists have for their mothers.

Could you imagine the impact on the greeting card, restaurant (Mother’s Day is usually one of the biggest eating out days of the year) and floral industry if feminists had their way?

And congrats on the grandbrat! (I just wanted it to rhyme).

  12. And at the same time, there seem to be a tremendous number of women who fetishize rape, and otherwise being mistreated. Witness the success of 50 Shades, among other things.

I almost wonder if the continual harping that all sex is rape has taught a generation that wanting one equates to wanting the other.

  13. Best way to spend a Saturday night? We go to daughter & SIL home, shoo them out for date-night, then get to roll around on the floor and play with grandkids!

(also great excuse to watch Disney movies!)

  14. Dear heart, don’t you see where this is leading?

Since mothers are doing such a horrible job on their own, children must be REMOVED from their mothers so that patriarchy will be destroyed.

Brave New World becomes reality as feminism plays its battering ram role against the family.

Add that to the latest LGBT plans:
    http://www.thenation.com/article/whats-next-lgbt-movement/

“…What next? Disestablish marriage. Get the state out of the business. Abolish the legal category.

Even as we savor the victory for civil equality this week, we
should start to push for disestablishing marriage. Freedom, equality, and the health of our liberal democratic polity depend on it….”

  15. One has to be pretty far gone; warped by pseudo-intellectual blather to hate something that is as utterly natural as motherhood. If nature is set up that way, and you think it’s a plot concocted by your enemies, then you’re flat-out insane.

It makes me think of a skit by the Kids in the Hall wherein they portray a group of men who refuse to urinate – EVER! – because “we’re not going to be tyrannized by our bladders!”

  16. Nothing so direct as that. The best explanation that I’ve read for the formation of fetishes is as a kind of psychological scar tissue, turning a trauma into a kink. If this hypothesis is correct, the more feminists beat a constant drumbeat of RAAAAAPE IS EVERYWHERE, BE AFRAID, the more women will develop a rape fetish.

It should be noted that there are essentially three kinds of rape fantasies — erotic, aversive and mixed — and roughly 25% of women have them. You will note that 46% of 25% is 11.5%, which if anything is a bit high for my best guess of the percentage of women that are hard-core man-hating feminists, so the internal conflicts of the mixed type could account for them entirely.

  17. Bindel is just a little peed off this weekend. She was among the final cuts in the Kansas City Chiefs camp. she was competing to be third string tackling dummy, but was cut. they offered to keep her on as a just plain dummy, but she left in a huff.

  18. Her attitude is beyond dysgenic, dyscivic and dyscivilizational. If universally adopted by humanity, it would be an extinction level event.

  19. Well, that didn’t take long for them to openly admit what they had consistently denied, that gay “marriage” was about destroying marriage.

  20. Popped over to the link to read and saw this complaint (Emphasis added):

All information on sex they receive is focused on procreation.I’m not advocating to withhold this information from them at all. But it is important to point out that before a little girl hears about Lesbianism for the first time, she will have years of procreation propaganda under her belt already. Everything children learn about sexuality is subsumed in the question ?Where do babies come from?”

Ponder all the implications of that single paragraph.

  21. Remember the song by Zager and Evans,…” In the year 2525, if man is still alive…”

Are we seeing the fruition of the hypothesis of that song being propagated before our very eyes?

  22. Oh, not at all. They want to elevate marriage — you’ll marry under the auspices of your “urban tribe” or your “garden club.”

  23. It may not be any good for mothering, but it’s still a workable form of mind control and it’s still a great scam for wringing money out of a university.

  24. My Vietnamese step mum has a good saying about some of the parenting abilities of ladies in the west.

“Just poop egg! Poop egg! and walk away”

  25. ROFL! I’ve seen some kids that probably would have been a lot better off if she had ‘just poop egg’.

  26. We have probably never had a generation of men with less of their formative years being influenced by other men.

Childcare (because mothers need to work) or single mum households, education dominated and run by ladies, a fairly (at least in Oz) substantial dying off of organisations like the scouts and some sporting codes.

And the feminists say men are treating ladies worse..

    Im getting a raging clue….
Men are essential for teaching boys the boundaries of male behaviour. Sometimes a punch in the face is needed.

  27. Of course the fascist left has no intention of getting “the state out of the business” of marriage. The real goal is to crush the family and replace it with the state. They want weddings to be no more meaningful than birthday parties. Turning marriage into a game that gay men can play was a brilliant first step toward that goal.

  28. Cue the story of the elephant pack that didn’t have an adult bull due to poaching, and an adolescent male was attacking rhinos out of (apparently) sheer untrammeled aggression — until authorities brought in a bull from another pack, who immediately put a stop to it.

IIRC, the adult male lifted him and body-slammed him onto the ground. It’s hard to picture, and I bet it surprised the juvenile delinquent too.

  29. I can never get over the contrast between how mentally ill these people are and how legitimized their rhetoric is in colleges and artistic movements. No doubt that same air of unreality attended the rise of Nazism. Lucky for us insane feminists can’t build tanks.
