When the Republican presidential candidates were asked in Wednesday’s CNN debate which woman they would choose to replace Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill, I was disappointed with their answers. Ben Carson said his mother, Mike Huckabee said his wife and Jeb Bush named Margaret Thatcher, while Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump seemed to agree on Rosa Parks.
Gentlemen, you are Republicans and you were debating at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Didn’t the name of the most important Republican woman of the 20th century cross your mind?
Yes — Phyllis Schlafly, whose 1964 book A Choice Not an Echo became a bestseller and was widely credited with rallying conservatives behind Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign.
Yes — Phyllis Schlafly, who brilliantly organized conservative women in the 1970s and ’80s to defeat the Equal Rights Amendment.
Yes — Phyllis Schlafly, whose Eagle Forum is to this day one of the most effective grassroots conservative organizations in America. Didn’t it occur to any of these Republican candidates that, if they had named Phyllis Schlafly to be on the $10 bill, they might have instantly won for themselves the loyalty of many thousands of conservative women across the country? Especially among social conservative voters in Iowa, and among voters old enough to remember the Goldwater and Reagan campaigns, the name Phyllis Schlafly still possesses a special magic.
That was a missed opportunity.
I don’t think we should change the $10 (nor, as some have suggested, the $20), but when Republicans miss a chance to praise Phyllis Schlafly, it bespeaks an ignorance of their own party’s history — or perhaps an unfortunate ingratitude for Mrs. Schlafly’s accomplishments.
The obvious answer was Bruce Jenner.
You beat me to it.
I was very disappointed with the answer (Mike Huckabee’s?) about keeping Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill but removing Andrew Jackson from the $20. President Jackson had the greatest single accomplishment of any President, before or after him: he paid off the national debt in 1836.
Bruce for the $3 dollar bill…
Jackson was a military hero, as were Washington ($1) and Grant ($50). I’m not a big fan of Hamilton, but he was the first Secretary of the Treasury, so why take his face off the money?
Plus, her relatives have a rather decent microbrewery in St. Louis. So she’s got that going for her.

Ok, this might be heresy but…Old Hickory and the Short Fingered Vulgarian?
-And AH solidified our Free Market system. He should be honored, especially on our currency.
-Jackson was probably mentally deranged and founded the Democratic Party – the Party of Slavery and Corruption [see: Donkey Cons].
–If you’re going to put a woman on our currency, why not Abigail Adams?
-And, dammit, I want FDR – a Fascist – off the dime. Put Ronald Reagan on it.
-And, of course, that Pinko Jefferson off the $2 bill and nickel.
Brilliant.
Or Dolly Madison?
I’m surprised no one has noted Martha Washington was on US Paper Currency over 120 years ago and put a stop to the Feminist systemic oppression trope that lies behind the recent put women’s faces on money !!!1! manufactured outrage

I love Phyllis Schalfly, but I hope Carly Fiorina wins if only to tell the Treasury Department TGF themselves over this proposed pandering…
And if Carly does as good as I hope as President, one day they can add her to Mount Rushmore…

Separated at Birth?
Heresy?
Schlafly. Brilliant. Girls today have never heard of her, but they all know Kim Kardasian.
That’s because the Kardashians exempifly the only sort of “achievement” the Left appreciates. That is, something which cannot be quantified. Fame without effort, skill, intellect or real contribution to humanity. It is “achievement” born of our own society’s fecklessness, malaise and moral bankruptcy.
Its the same ingratitude they have for Sarah Palin.
They should put a woman on the dollar bill. There are no shortage on cheap ho’s they could use. Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, any Khartrashian will do.
Jefferson founded the DimoKKKrap Party, not Jackson. Jackson’s Party eased to exist less than 50 years later, and changed, moving more left, about every 50 years. The current party shares little with Jefferson’s and Jackson’s parties.
Hamilton’s governmental philosophy won the day at Appomattox courthouse. If you think that’s a legacy to honor, then you have a real problem of cognitive dissonance.
brother was a mean dueler also. Compared to the present eunuch in the White House, Old Hickory would be going all open up a can of whoop a** on some fools.
Both of you oppressive patriarchs have a real problem with Caitlyn.
If we’re going to put a woman on the $10, then make it Betsy Ross or Lady Liberty.
Also, bring back the $500 bill and put Ronald Reagan on it. While we’re at it, let’s get rid of the penny and the $1 bill, make a $1 coin the size of a half-dollar since we haven’t minted any more of those in over a decade (no more quarter-sized dollars), and print $2s instead of $1s.
“Yes — Phyllis Schlafly, whose Eagle Forum is to this day one of the most effective grassroots conservative organizations in America. …

Politicians don’t like it when mere citizens dare to affect the political climate without going through them.
He also rounded up my ancestors, violated the solemn US treaties with them, stole their land — to give to Democrat voters — and force-marched them to the wilderness.
Alexander Hamilton was the second greatest of the Founders, after Washington himself. And, in fact, Hamilton was Washington’s chief councilor.
That thought came to me too as I was driving a few weeks ago.
Naa .. I think the proper place for two-hit “hos” is on the quarter.
Jenna Jameson or GTFO.
Rather than getting rid of the penny — much less the dollar! — why not move the decimal for currently printed paper currency, and bank balances, while keeping the nominal value of all *coinage*?
Thus, 10 already existing dimes and 10 newly minted dimes would all be equivalent to a newly printed dollar, but a currently existing dollar bill would be worth 1/10 of a newly printed dollar. And, the nominal value of one’s checking account would go from $2011.50 to $201.15
Well, there’s that little problem that she’s still alive (see 31 U.S.C. §5114(b)). You weren’t proposing to take care of that just to make her eligible for the currency, were you?
Of course, the Confederate States of America had a woman (Lucy Pickens) on their currency over 150 years ago, but do you ever hear about that?
Can’t argue with that.
Justice Thomas, in a little noticed dissent a couple of years ago in a case regarding Indian adoption IIRC, argued that all federal law regarding Native Americans was unconstitutional. His reason? The constitution specifies that dealings with Indian Nations are to be handled by the States. The Federal government has no authority for anything, from the Trail of Tears to the present Reservation system. Of course, as usual, the MSM ignored his well-reasoned opinion.
Hey, what about the Red Fox of Kinderhook, Martin Van Buren, doesn’t he get some love, or hate?
I think that the problem is that Mr Jenner has a problem with having been born in to Teh Patriarchy.
Andrew Jackson didn’t need a comb-over.
With all of the money The Donald says he has, he couldn’t manage a hair transplant?
That’s not a bad idea, but it’s a much more radical change than what I was proposing. Mostly I want the US to have a workable $1 coin again and to stop paying $0.02 to mint a coin worth $0.01.
Currency is getting less and less useful anyway. I have currency to buy lunch and small stuff, but my paycheck is just electrons moved from my employer’s bank to mine, and most of my spending is electrons moved from my bank to someone else’s.
Hmm, I’d never heard of that.
Does it have to be a woman? As much as I like Phyllis Schlafly, Ronald Reagan should be on the $10.
While Andrew Jackson was wrong on many things, he was a man of respect and he would be an amazingly interesting guy to listen to and talk with…preferably with a good bourbon.
Are you related to Elizabeth Warren?
You just made me think of a potential wedge issue for the general election. Imagine if Warren turns out to be Biden’s Veep, our veep suggesting Jackson should go for the trail of tears…and then reminding Warren that she did have a “blood” connection to the Cherokee, one of her direct ancestors helped round up the Cherokee for that forced death march.
I am not a proponent of generational guilt, but since we are talking Democrat hypocrisy, the blood is on Elizabeth Warren’s hands, not in her veins.
Do you have a link?

No it’s because he won the decathalon, had 10 nose jobs, was married 10 times, had 10 kids, owns 10 cars, 10 is his lucky number and is 10 times stupider than the average human.
President Jackson had the greatest single accomplishment of any President, before or after him: he paid off the national debt in 1836.
Wonder where he got the $
Oh, yeah… a bunch of hostiles just up, left all their stuff and started walking west, for some reason.
Srsly, Fuck Jackson. He’s a democrat anyways. Paint them all with a brush dipped in his sins. Then, after the dems all line up to support Jackson, propose replacing his portrait on the $20 with gun-toting republican Harriet Tubbman so they can make a spectacle of choosing a racist white man over a black woman freedom fighter.
“Are you related to Elizabeth Warren?”
I never thought so.
According to relatives, I’m distantly related to Nancy Ward (which means I’m also related to Sequoyah)
But then, *everyone* has a “Cherokee princess” in their family tree.
One of my second cousins made a pilgrimage finding and photographing the tombstones of our relatives (more closely related to him than to me) who died on the Trail of Tears.
I recently realized that *everyone* is misreading the 14th Amendment, as I explain here
But, wouldn’t that make it instantly worthless? Better to put “her” on the $3 bill to start.
Going with Dolly Parton on this one.
Phyllis Schlafly is despicable – she needs to be transgendered as she certainly doesn’t represent the views of successful, educated women.
