Your Tax Dollars at Work

Eric Owens at the Daily Caller:
The National Endowment for the Humanities announced this year’s recipients of $21.1 million in federally-funded grants earlier this month.
A chunk of the agency’s taxpayer cash will go toward a study of the recent “history of French lesbian activism,” reports The Washington Free Beacon.
University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign history and women’s studies professor Tamara Chaplin will conduct the groundbreaking research . . . “Postwar French Media, and the Struggle for Gay Rights,” “a book-length study of the history of French lesbian activism since World War II.”
Presumably, the $6,000 taxpayer-funded stipend will be in addition to Chaplin’s annual taxpayer-funded salary of $86,607.04.
This is the kind of “culture” the federal government promotes, created by the kind of “educators” who are employed at taxpayer expense. Maybe the National Institutes for Mental Health could fund a study of exactly when and why America went completely crazy.

Emphasis on number six.
Sure sign that taxes are too high: government has money to burn.
Sure sign that government is too big: academics depend on government grants and not what people want.
March 28th, 2016 @ 6:32 pm
Double post.
March 28th, 2016 @ 6:32 pm
I’ve already done that research into French post-structural inanity. My conclusions are as follows:
Insane lesbians don’t think much of men, or of logic and reality
They made up a fake prehistoric event where men created heterosexuality and a taboo against incest so they could keep the noble population of lesbians down who would be the only warning voice to warn women of their coming enslavement
Insane lesbians decided if they stopped using words like him-her, they could destroy heterosexuality the same way Radio Free Europe destroyed commies
Next gain: more lesbians, peace and justice, and fewer bridges, roads and technology
Net effect: a return to the dark ages of prehistory where men once again have an awakening
Cherchez le morons
A vicious cycle, no doubt. Where’s my 6 grand?

8. Your fantasy most likely will not come true.
March 28th, 2016 @ 7:53 pm
Dovetailing with your prior post, government funded “research” is simply a way for politicians to buy votes with taxpayer money. The truth is this: If the end goal of the research has the potential to make money, the private sector is already doing it, and better.

9. You are responsible for your own actions.
10. Even though right now it seems as if you know everything, you really don’t.
11. Don’t take yourself so seriously.
12. Cherish your freedom and never take it for granted.
13. Re-read number 6.
March 28th, 2016 @ 8:15 pm
True, that.
March 28th, 2016 @ 8:17 pm
I initially read the title as “Your Tax Dollars at Wank,” which turned out to be appallingly accurate.
March 28th, 2016 @ 8:24 pm
Chaplin’s work is only “groundbreaking” because nobody gives a rip, and nobody in their right mind wants to waste their valuable life force writing a huge tome on such an asinine topic, especially since no one but the author will ever read it.
A better topic would be a truly groundbreaking study on the relationship between the number of taxpayers and tax revenue, with a chapter devoted to the mystery of why large intact traditional families seem to produce more future taxpayers. Whatever one might think of Jim Bob Duggar, there’s no doubt that he has surely done his part to increase the tax base.
Edit: It occurs to me that I should’ve called her work “windbreaking” rather than “groundbreaking”.

Since Chris Evans is not giving me a full body massage right now, I’m inclined to agree with you.

White heterosexual rayciss patriarchal rapey rapists don’t get money, they only give it.
March 28th, 2016 @ 8:54 pm
OT: I just found another tour de force by Karen “GirlWritesWhat” Straughan from last month, Feminism: Decline of the family and erosion of freedom. A brief, clear explanation of how we got here, where we might be headed, and why we have less freedom at every step of the way.
She also gave a brief talk at the 2014 conference:
March 28th, 2016 @ 9:11 pm
She’s right, too. I noticed the same thing while doing some reading on mid-19th century history, while studying, of all things, Christian theological liberalization. I stumbled on some great full-on feminist quotes from that time, but I think I might’ve accidentally deleted them, because I can’t find them anymore. Suffice it to say, that period in history is more interesting than one might initially suppose.
March 28th, 2016 @ 9:38 pm
On an up note Hillary Clinton got trounced over the weekend. I’m compelled to mention this because, as I’ve written here before whenever a Clinton loses something whether an election, their keys or their way in the dark while on top of a mesa, it’s a good thing.
