In DC News, Truth Is a Firing Offense

Posted on | August 11, 2010 | 8 Comments

Robert Bluey brings us the story of how an ABC affiliate in DC has suspended reporter Doug McKelway for telling the truth:

McKelway’s live report [from a protest event in DC] began with a factually correct statement about BP’s donations to President Obama. McKelway accurately noted that Obama received $77,051 from the BP employees . . .
When McKelway asked one of the event’s participants to comment on it, Ted Glick of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network acknowledged it was a problem for Obama. The rally was organized by left-wing groups Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and Public Citizen.

The Washington Post reports that McElway’s colleagues consider it “partisan” to tell the truth about Obama.

Meanwhile, a former CNBC reporter tells how General Electric’s CEO put pressure on NBC reporters to go easy on Obama.

This is the first of many to come, no doubt.

Yet another reason why I avoid MSM and turn to the web, hoping to find truth on the New Media sites. This story is so unbelievable. Are there journalists who think this kind of treatment is acceptable?

    Just breathtaking.
