FMJRA 2.0: A Better Start Than Last Year

Started the week going 2-1 against Pete’s Brewers, but then went to the Polo Grounds to face the Giants, which was almost as bad as the Red Sox at Fenway, except we hung on in Game #2 to force extra innings: Len Randle got a single off Ron Schueler in the top of the 11th, and two groundouts & a double from Jim Sundberg later it was 10-9 Senators. and Steve Foucault came in to shut down the Giants in the bottom of the inning for his third game. The Giants have some tough starters, and if Nolan Ryan hadn’t pulled his groin or something in Game 2, we might well have gone 0-3. Next up are the Angels; we’re playing them tomorrow afternoon at home in RFK, so that ought to turn few gopher balls into long fly outs instead. Meanwhile, we’re 5-7, a game behind Boston and Milwaukee and just 1.5 games behind Minnesota. It’s April in 1975, and we think we have a good shot at the playoffs this year.
