Dennis The Constitutional Peasant Lives! UPDATE: Ali Akbar Says ‘Rep. Lewis, Come On Down!’

by Smitty

Via email from Warner Todd Huston, who introduces this video:

A bunch of child-like protesters in Atlanta, Georgia refused left-wing Congressman John Lewis — a civil rights icon to many — to be allowed to address the crowd this weekend. The whole scene is reminiscent of the worst, hackneyed, new agie-styled preschool program devised for 5-year-olds by one of the most idiotic leftist imaginable. But it makes for hilarious video entertainment.

This whole scene recalls:

Dennis: We’re an anarcho-syndicalist commune. We take it in turns to act as sort-of-executive officer for the week–
Arthur: Yes.
Dennis: But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special biweekly meeting–
Arthur: Yes, I see.
Dennis: By a simple majority, in the case of purely internal affairs–
Arthur: [getting bored] Be quiet.
Dennis: But by a two thirds majority, in the case of more major–
Arthur: Be quiet! I order you to be quiet!
Dennis’ Mother: Order, eh? Who does he think he is?
Arthur: I am your king!
Dennis’ Mother: Well I didn’t vote for you.

One of my favorite points is that people do not scale. Athenian democracy works in the case of, say, my local Baptist church, because it’s kinda small, we don’t disagree terribly much, and the heavy lifting typically occurs before the vote for all but the tiniest matters.

Hence the nasty existential truth, which plays nicely with Rational Ignorance, that we are a representative democracy.

Update: Ali Akbar offers Lewis a platform!

Update II: Dan Collins plays the Life of Brian card, inviting the question: are we dignifying #OrderingWindowShades excessively with all these Monty Python references?

Update III: Da Tech Guy is also following the story, and has requested comment from Lewis’ office.

Update IV: More at The Rio Norte Line.

So that’s how they’re going to win their revolution — they’ll put on farces like that and when every sane onlooker has been reduced to rolling on the ground laughing hysterically, they’ll move to repeal the Big Bang/Letting-There-Be of Light and we’ll all be unable to “check” the proposal because we’re out of breath and peeing ourselves with mirth.

The media will equate #OWS (Obnoxious Whale S**t) with Tea Parties and say: see, no worky-worky.

OMG!! This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen!! This is happening in my own city?? It’s like a creepy kindergarten cult!

Remember folks, THIS is the left’s tea party!! If the Dems want to hitch their wagon to this crowd, let’s just get out of the way, and let ’em have at it!!

They may have done him a favor.

I honestly do not see why any Democrat would try to get on this “Occupation” band-wagon.    They aren’t advocating Democratic policies or liberal ideology.

This is the Left’s shock and awe squad. Contrast with the Rumsfeldian version.

At Tea Party protests on the Mall, we were chatting with the police. Relatively genteel.

No, church readings do not sound so Pavlovian.

Although I disagree with the politics of John Lewis, in a polar opposite kind of way, I do respect him and he was treated disgracefully by people who would normally support him. I hope it gives him pause to think about who the left’s base really is.

People have an individual right to their voice, regardless of whether or not the majority wants to hear it, and John Lewis was denied his. This IS what democracy looks liked, and that’s why the founders NEVER wanted this country to be a democracy.

    Pathetically weak-minded bunch of groupthinkers!

You could be right – notice that most of the “calls” are short – 2 or 3 words to accomodate the attention deficit disorders inherent in this group.  “that person”…(that person)…”is Congressman”…(is Congressman)…”John Lewis”…(John Lewis).  At 4:00 minutes they start to step up to 5+ words.

At least the Union Thugs are finally admitting the obvious.

In other news, I’m totally yelling MIKE CHECK whenever my kids start talking while I’m watching TV.

What I always love about these sort of people, is that they’re upset that the “average Joe” has very little influence in making policy.  It’s another demonstration of their keen inability to grasp concepts such as math.

Also, while we could only see what the camera was pointing at, it sure seemed to me that the consensus was closer to listening to John Lewis than not.  Sounds like the dad from Family Ties up there with the bullhorn just didn’t want his agenda interrupted.

Where’s a Watery Tart when you need her, eh?

John Lewis didn’t have to go there, what surprises me is that the people there recognized that he is not relevant. He was there to use them cause that’s how he and his roll.

My favorite part is at the end, when Family Ties dad starts getting pissed! “This group made this decision BY CONSENSUS!!”

John Lewis is not only stupid, he’s a two-faced ingrate with no values, and he’s a lying son of a bitch to boot. If the Occupy Wall Street Crowd dissed this communist thug, then I need to rethink my previous position about them, because they obviously have at least some values, enough to recognize an ignorant, self-serving buffoon when they see one anyway. I still haven’t gotten over the time this jackass had the nerve to justify Obamacare on the grounds that the government has the right to force you to pursue your “constitutional right” to engage in the pursuit of happiness. Whoever busted his skull open in the sixties must have done more damage than was realized.

OK, I’ve waited and I’ve waited for Anamika to show up, and complain about the suppression of free speech in America.

So, where is she?  Attending one of these gigs, so she can score some free food, tunes, and maybe some cuddle time with a compliant beta male?  While Representative Joe Lewis is being treated so badly by a bunch of RAAAAACIST!!! Americans?

So much for her dedication to The Cause, huh?
