Sandra Fluke Argued for Mandatory Coverage for Sex-Change Surgery

Rather belatedly, we are becoming aware that this supposedly typical Georgetown coed is not very typical at all:
[B]irth control is not all that Ms. Fluke believes private health insurance must cover. She also, apparently, believes that it is discrimination deserving of legal action if “gender reassignment” surgeries are not covered by employer provided health insurance. She makes these views clear in an article she co-edited with Karen Hu in the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law.
The title of the article . . . is “Employment Discrimination Against LGBTQ Persons” and was published in the Journal’s 2011 Annual Review.
Remember, as Byron York previously reported, Fluke was rejected as a last-minute substitute witness at a Feb. 16 committee hearing because staffers for Chairman Issa were unable to discover Fluke’s claim to expertise relevant to the subject of the hearing. This law school journal article is the sort of thing that might have been discovered about Fluke’s background, had the Democrats who put Fluke forward as a witness done so with the usual 72-hour advance notice. Here’s one brief quote from the article:
Transgender persons wishing to undergo the gender reassignment process frequently face heterosexist employer health insurance policies that label the surgery as cosmetic or medically unnecessary and therefore uncovered.
Now, imagine Fluke trying to defend this language about “heterosexist” policies in a public hearing, with Republican members of the committee questioning her about whether religious institutions (or private businesses, or taxpayers) should also be required to foot the bill for “gender reassignment.”
Congratulations, America: You’ve been scammed!
UPDATE: Dan Collins at The Conservatory points out that the Obama administration is already providing illegal immigrants with “hormone treatments for transgendered people.”
Of course, this only makes sense. We wouldn’t want these foreign transpeople to go back to wherever they (illegally) came from and say that they’d been the victims of American “heterosexism,” would we? Then President Obama would have to issue another apology to the foreigners we had victimized.
UPDATE II: Welcome, Mark Levin radio listeners! A few words by The Great One certainly did kick the online traffic into high gear.
UPDATE III: Linked by Evil Blogger Lady, and there is now a Memeorandum thread, aggregating further coverage by LifeNews.com, Nice Deb, Protein Wisdom, Hot Air, National Review, Riehl World View and The College Conservative.
Also linked by Bob Belvedere’s Camp of the Saints.
UPDATE IV: Ed Driscoll dubs this “Flukeaquiddick.”
UPDATE V (Smitty): click the Site Meter screen cap for Memeorandum thread.
Stacy wishes to clarify that the hours of 19-2100 on this chart are due to the awesomeness of Mark Levin. Any resemblance to a gesture telling James Wolcott that he is #1 is strictly coincidental.

I only saw one report that did and it was on a local news station.

Dead solid perfect.
Ruthless and relentless execution.

We have to bring the argument back to the main issue. One of the number of ways we do that is by exposing Fluke for the fraud and agent she is.

I wish I could agree with your last sentence, but I cannot. There is a good-sized portion of the American public that merrily lets themselves be fooled everyday in an effort to maintain their fragile mental comfort.

Methinks Stacy was employing the tabloid style of reporting for fun and profit.

The Left in America learned very well from their cousins in the USSR and The Reich [see: Liberal Fascism].

As a wise man once said: Without God, everything is permissible. And he was right, as we’ve seen in the past one hundred years.

Considering where she pegs the “ugly” and “dysfunctional” meters now, that’s a frightening thought.

The Left’s goal is to bring down Western Civilization. One way they believe is effective is doing that is to destroy all tradition, all morality – all that is good and just. They want to delegitimize The Permanent Things. So, yes, pedophilia and are eventually going to be allowed if the Left continues to control our institutions.
Scalia, among many others, warned us in Lawrence v. Texas.

Oh, I must vehemently disagree! Augmentation destroys a woman’s beauty by making her look like a mutant, a freak.

Hey, that’s my persona! (except the clove cigarettes — too expensive — generic Marlboros).

What’s this “TeaTards” shit? If you were paying attention you’d know the main focus of the Tea Party isn’t religious or social issues, its fiscal matters. Spending, debt, bureaucracy, big government, taxes, regulations, etc. etc.
Why not actually go to a Tea Party gathering one of these days instead of relying on the media spin? It shouldn’t be that hard to go, listen, and actually pay attention. Just pretend like you’re going to a live taping of Survivor.

If this is the case, then the average GOP voter is left with two choices: accept things as they are (and how they are going) or cowboy up and prepare to walk through the fever swamps.
Social issues are tied to fiscal issues — or you get to pay for the society that you accept.

Looking at her picture, I can see why she would want to have sex change operations paid for by insurance.

EXACTLY. That’s what I wanted to say, but the words just wouldn’t form.

I just came from Law Profressor Ann Althouse who is busy humilating herself in an attempt to defend weak-needy perpetual professional law student-activist who while affording a $24,000 per semester Law School is completely incapable of providng for her own contraceptive sex life.
Women do themselves a disservice when they circle their silly little wagon representing haplessness and victimhoodness.
I am Woman hear me roar: I am not hapless or a victim and refuse to be associated with a small group of weak-kneed hapless creatures who are incapable of standing on their own.
I don’t need a Fluke fighting for me, I AM STRONGER THAN SHE!
March 6th, 2012 @ 12:49 pm
Did you hear the program? It was hysterical. Rush predicated his choice of descriptions based upon the assumption that Fluke was telling the TRUTH. He made it clear that he knew that she WASN’T. Therefore, “slut” and “prostitute” didn’t apply to her really, but liar and shill does.
It Palin et al are caught LYING, then they are fair game for satire as well. These same offended paragons of virtue probably cheered and laughed when the Punk Obama called Palin a “pig”, and went on to vote for him.
Fluke can take her contraceptives and gender reassignment surgery to another chump. *I* remain unsympathetic. Bob

Fyi,
If I phrase or get some of this wrong, I apologize.
Gender Reassignment is not a simple whim, nor taken lightly in
the medical and psychological field.
It is a decision that requires great risk by the person undergoing the reassignment.
It also requires a lifetime of “Hormone Replacement Therapy”.
Until February 2010, the costs for Gender Reassignment rested solely on the individual.
Some relief came when, one individual sued the Internal Revenue Service after the agency rejected a $5,000
deduction for approximately $25,000 in medical expenses associated with
the sex-change surgery.
The IRS said the surgery was cosmetic and not medically necessary.
In that case the U.S. Tax Court ruled, in February 2010, that the expenses could be
deducted on income taxes because they were deemed, “medically
necessary”, in treating “Gender Identity Disorder”.

While I do oppose Obama Care, I do believe our Health Care Coverage System needs an overhaul and updated Procedure Coverage.
March 6th, 2012 @ 4:33 pm
When she read her statement it seemed more like a
“PORK BILL”!
She spoke about “Recreational Birth Control”, ‘Medical Birth Control”, “Hormone Replacement Therapy” and ‘Gender Reassignment” as if they all the same!
She also failed to point out that the Government and “IRS” viewed the “Gender Reassignment” surgery as cosmetic and not medically necessary and not deductible.
Then the “IRS” lost a lawsuit, when the U.S. Tax court ruled, in February 2010, that the expenses could be deducted on income taxes, because,
they were, deemed, “medically necessary”.
So, only now, after, the U.S. Tax Court got involved, has Pelosi,
Obama and Ms. Fluke become concerned with insurance companies paying the costs instead of giving, the Tax Dollar Deductions.

you’re an idiot!
March 6th, 2012 @ 5:39 pm
Heh, Susan, you may know that (and what happens if they manage to turn us into weak creatures…what we are being turned into right now, and what that means for society); I know that; at least a fair number of women know that.
But most women have bought into this ridiculous notion of themselves as fainting damsels (some men have too)….and when we women have been stamped into utter submission…what happens to our men, our sons?
If you truly want to defeat an enemy, you have to break the hearts and minds of their women; if you can do that, the rest is easy. What is this but an attempt to turn us women into nothing more than broodmares and cows? And many of us are handing it over with a smile.

I ran across an old friend on Facebook that was married to the drummer of Jefferson Airplane WAY back when it was free love in the 60’s. Man o Man I am glad I read the hateful words of her liberal friends and their belief in Nobama. They trash the conservatives much worse than whatever Limbaugh said on the radio. They are so wierd!! They believe in the lie and it is worse than I thought. I looked up to the old friend as she was one of the smartest people I have met and looking back at how I have changed she no longer has my respect. This may not be the subject at hand yet I thought I would reach out and listen to the comforting sounds of actual decent human beings. I have not been outspoken before on blogs yet the other day I went beyond that and let loose on some of the bashers against Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin. These guys have saved my life and I have something to believe in that is good and honerable. Thanks for reading friends.
