Zimmerman’s new attorney, O’Mara, is supposedly one of the top criminal defense lawyers in the state and connected with all the circuits. I suspect he is donating his services for the free advertising, but he should be able to win it unless there is some forensic evidence yet unknown or fatal contradiction in his unlawyered statements to police.
Charlie didn’t make parole again? I thought this time was a charm, for sure.

This blatantly political prosecution will backfire. Absent
information known only to that prosecutor’s office Zimmerman will be found not guilty asuming the case isn’t thrown out by the judge. I assume that the plan is for this action to lower the temperature for the moment in the hopes that time will diffuse things. A really bad bet in my opinion. When the case is thrown out or he’s acquitted or the jury hangs this situation will explode. Pandering to mobs produces unpredictable results.

Charlie sort of screwed up by spouting off a bunch of crazy stuff and alluding to violence before refusing to go to the hearing…but it is nice to know California is not yet crazy enough to let him out.
In another link that is not exactly timely but sort of should be:
Ann Coulter on Mitt Romney… Doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, does it?

Even Trayvon Martin’s mother said (now) she thinks this was an accident (which sure suggests manslaughter is the only charge you could even conceivably go for under these circumstances and that not charging him is in the spectrum of reasonable actions).
The case should turn on the evidence. From what little I know, it seems like he should be found not guilty, but we will see.
April 12th, 2012 @ 12:43 pm
Charlie really doesn’t care about getting out — a lot of them like it in prison. I think he may be one of them. Sick thrill out of people he would have murdered if out now having to pay to take care of his worthless ass…which is a good argument for keeping the death penalty.
Prosecutors in the Zimmerman case are likely wanting to see a plea down to manslaughter — problem is the way FL views that statute. If they made a difference between voluntary and involuntary they might have a good case for the latter.
As it stands they don’t, and Zimmerman would be crazy for going for it — so hit him with the stronger charge and then plea him down.

I hope you’re right – and I also hope the Florida National Guard has an ample supply of tear gas laid in, because I’ll bet Al Sharpton and similar loudmouths will be out there inciting riots within ten minutes of the jury’s report.
April 12th, 2012 @ 6:51 pm
Zimmerman would be crazy to plead guilty to any charge he’s already got grounds for an appeal based on the un-even interpretation of the “stand your ground law”. Prosecuting him and then accepting a plea to a much lower charge defeats the purpose of charging him in the first place, nothing short of life without parole or hanging will satisfy the race baiters or prevent the inevitable riots.
