OBAMA’S THIRD TERM? Democrat Proposes Repeal of 22nd Amendment

Posted on | January 6, 2013 | 49 Comments

When I saw the news from Barbara Espinosa on Twitter this morning, I thought it was some kind of crazy joke:

Crazy as it is, however, it’s not a joke: Rep. Jose Serrano (D-N.Y.) on Friday re-introduced as H.J. 15 the same bill he offered last year, “Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the twenty-second article of amendment” — i.e., to end the two-term limit on the presidency, enabling Obama to be “President fo Life.”

The Twitchy Team is all over it, but as Barbara points out, there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell this this thing could ever pass the ratification process. Of course, the Democrat Party’s contempt for the Constitution is so complete, they don’t care. They’d declare martial law, prohibit dissent as a “crime against the people” and govern by decree if it weren’t for the fact that conservatives are armed to the teeth. That probably explains why Obama is the greatest gun salesman in American history.

UPDATE: Worth noticing that it was a young friend of ours whose Tweet helped get this story onto the Drudge Report:

Gabby Hoffman, superstar! Keep an eye on that kid. She’s going places.

We need more, not less, term limitations across our government.

Fortunately, amendments are hard. And while he won with 52%, that is not going to be nearly enough to pass an amendment in House and Senate and then get it ratified by the States.

But you never know what Boehner may do to assist it along.

The best thing for America that came out of WWII is very possibly not that we licked Hitler and Tojo but that it likely hastened FDR’s death….

We need more limited government. Which means less government.

No how, no way. Every Dem is looking at the fact that there will be no incumbent in 2016, and Biden will be way too old to run. It even looks like Hillary’s health will keep her out!

Pfaw. We talked about this when Reagan was reelected – turns out it wouldn’t apply to current officeholders anyway.

Constitutional requires 2/3 vote in BOTH House and Senate OR by a Constitutional Convention (which has no rules or guidelines at all) AND ratification by 3/4 of the states (38). This proposal cannot do ANY of those things.

But it can rattle your cage, and did.

Rather than go with the “just say no policy” how about amending the house resolution to include repealing the 24th Amendment and establishing a minimum annual income tax that a person is required to have paid in order to vote in federal elections. It’s not like the commiecrats read the bills they vote for.

Finding a successor to Obama is going to be hard. Finding a successor to Bill Clinton was hard; Gore just couldn’t get the juices flowing thte way Bill did. The post-Obama letdown is apt to be even greater.

Let’s say the offer was to increase the term limit from 2 to 3. What additional clauses, limiting taxation and spending powers, for example, would Democrats give to get that?

And assuming that Billary’s health doesn’t head even further south; people keep on forgetting she’s 65 years old. I keep on reading puff pieces about her stamina and determination, which probably means her condition isn’t as rosy as being painted. And if her recent concussion was genuine (on which I place no bets), that’s more reason to think she’s headed for the rocking chair.

Or so we can hope. The last thing America needs is that harpy at the helm.

But could Barack Obama survive a challenge in the primary against Bill Clinton? Don’t tell me that if Bill could become President again he’d rule it out, even if Barack Obama stood in his way.

Ok.. These Obama WITCHHUNTS have gotten beyond ridiculous. Every day it’s something else he’s supposedly doing. “Obama is gonna take your guns!” “Obama raised my taxes when he said he wouldn’t!” “Obama is responsible for high gas prices!” I’ve been called this HUGE “Obama Supporter” because I regularly defend him. I’m actually not. I actually think he is clown. HOWEVER, I do get sick and damn tired of reading posts and seeing pictures defacing the man based on SPECULATION. Not facts. Just rumors.

THIS JUST IN: Everything you hear on Facebook, at work, or in public bathrooms isn’t always true! I can’t believe I’m actually having to say that ADULTS. BUT… have no fear, the truth is just a few clicks away! That’s right! GOOGLE IS A THING.

WARNING: You may have to change your thinking just a bit, and accept the facts as truth, but it’s honestly a better way to think.

Burro!”

It was decided back I believe in 1924 to limit the House to 435…otherwise they have to build another building…because they won’t fit in their current building. With the rapid increase in population…each census would include drastic changes… I’m more for limits across the board for Congress and the Executive branch. Obama can’t get a 3rd term, wouldn’t he have to call a Constitutional Convention to ratify this?

First of all, the GOP attempted the SAME thing in 1988 for Reagan, and secondly, there is little evidence of partisan motivation for this bill. Just some Democrat who has already introduced this bill. Lastly, even IF this is passed, that does not mean that ANYONE has the will or means to prohibit dissent, declare martial law, or become a dictator.
