Memo to Bill Sammon: There’s Somebody at Fox News Who Is Out to Get You

Posted on | December 15, 2010 | 10 Comments

You may have figured that out with the earlier leak of your health-care memo, and now with the leak of your climate-change memo, you know that first leak wasn’t an anomaly.

If you need some advice on how to deal with this kind of stuff, just give me a holler. I think I know exactly what you need.

Or rather, who you need.

Progressives Disparage Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg as ‘Billionaire Jew’?

Posted on | December 15, 2010 | 9 Comments

The Left wanted Julian Assange of WikiLeaks as Time‘s “Person of the Year,” but the editors chose Zuckerberg instead. Donald Douglas at American Power blogs about the collective fury of the Left over this choice.

Professor Douglas links a woman blogger’s headline: “Nice Jewish Billionaire Boy Chosen Over Assange.” But reading her “about” page, Elaine Meinel Supkis seems to embrace an atypical politics, which isn’t exactly the same thing as saying she’s a kook:

Financially, ethically, psychologically, and religiously, we are going into what I call the ‘Cave of Wealth and Death’ because we want to be rich and powerful, not happy and healthy and free. The chains of wealth pull us into the grave. I believe in Life, not Death. I believe that the only real thing we possess is our souls and this is by far, the most precious thing. Inside the Cave of Wealth and Death are various dire forces: Zero and Infinity, Libra and others which appear in my stories and cartoons. Above all of this flies the constellation Pegasus. This is my icon and I have been a believer in the eternal powers of creativity as expressed by the beliefs and ancient stories of this very old horse/god.

So there’s some sort of pagan pantheistic New Age spiritualism informing her views, and maybe she needs some tinfoil in her hat. If she’s some kind of Jew-hater — what’s this about, huh? and “international Jewish finances,” hello? — then I don’t think we can hang that on the Left, per se, except in the sense that August Bebel intended when he remarked, “Anti-Semitism is the socialism of fools.”

Ergo, while I have often noted the overlap between the anti-American Left and the anti-Israel Left — “The Sirhan Sirhan Wing of the Democratic Party” — I’m not sure that Supkis fits so neatly there.

Rich Lowry: Palin-Hater

Posted on | December 15, 2010 | 9 Comments

Aaron Goldstein at The American Spectator:

Yesterday, Jim Antle drew our attention to Rich Lowry’s chart on how prospective 2012 Republican presidential candidates would vote on the Obama-McConnell tax deal in its present form.
As I noted yesterday, Lowry’s chart was incomplete because he had left Sarah Palin blank. Palin, in fact, voiced her opposition to the deal back on December 8th.
Yet as of 1:53 p.m. EST today, Lowry still has Palin blank on his chart.
Memo to Rich Lowry: Sarah Palin votes ‘No.’

Yeah, you know what I just noticed about the NRO list of “prospective” 2012 candidates? He doesn’t even list Herman Cain.

Rich Lowry hates women and minorities. Pass it on.

UPDATE: Lowry has now acknowledged Palin’s “no,” but still doesn’t include Herman Cain as a contender. Thanks to the commenter who pointed that out, and also to the commenter who pointed out Erick Erickson’s very interesting mention of Herman Cain as a grassroots favorite. Let me point out a couple of facts:

  • Newt Gingrich is not going to be the 2012 GOP nominee, and his semi-campaign is just a fundraising/publicity stunt. He tried the same thing in 2008, BTW.
  • Anybody climbing aboard the Tim Pawlenty 2012 Victory Bandwagon is on their way to a massive disappointment. Pawlenty’s a decent guy and a conservative, but there is no way he’s going to win the South Carolina primary. Depending on who is actually in the field, Pawlenty will get a share of the “Please, Dear Lord, Not Mitt Romney” vote in the Iowa caucuses. That’s it. The dude has a charisma deficit.

So scratch those guys off the list, and there are some other minor candidates you can scratch, but it’s important to scratch Gingrich and Pawlenty up front, because there are Serious People pretending that those guys are actually in contention for 2012, which they aren’t.

Alyssa Milano Told Me This Video Was Cute — And She Was Right!

Posted on | December 15, 2010 | 5 Comments

Why I am blogging about this silliness? Because I’m fighting sudden-onset Blogger Mood Disorder. I spent many hours yesterday trying to develop a complete aggregation on the Florida school board shooting — see also here — and while perhaps it wasn’t a complete waste of time, others got credit for blogging today what I first blogged last night.

Because I suck.

Given that there is no incentive to be the first to blog breaking news, to report and analyze events as they happen, I might as well be the first conservative blogger to post this video of a 2-year-old fascinated by his Christmas toy.

Enjoy your childhood, kid. It’s all downhill from there.

Please, all my blogger “friends,” be sure to post this video later. Don’t even hat-tip me. My utter worthlessness might be contagious.

International Hero of World Peace Julian Assange Is Also International Mack Daddy

Posted on | December 15, 2010 | 6 Comments

Tracy Quan resorts to anthropology to explain why the LeakyWicker inspires concupiscence among liberal women. It’s not just his vague resemblance to Sting, she says:

“Despite his most-wanted status and allegations of sexual misconduct, the WikiLeaks founder is intriguingly attractive to many women. . . . Yet [Naomi] Wolf, dwelling in a ‘boys will be boys’ way on Assange’s allegedly boorish dating style, reminds us that female appetites are as unpredictable as those of men.”

Actually, no. Female appetites are entirely predictable. Confused women with self-esteem issues predictably seek significance by associating themselves with famous men.

Note that it is not wealth or success but rather fame that does the trick. A man may have a substantial bank balance or eminence in his professional career without inspiring desperate women toward groupie behavior. The vice-president of an investment firm, a real-estate developer or a top lawyer may all make more money than the lead guitarist of a rock band, but the guitarist is famous (at least among rock music fans) and so it is the rock star who is pursued by sex-crazed groupies.

Likewise with Julian Assange. He probably isn’t rich, and his “success” is rather ambiguous (any man so enthusiastically admired by Glenn Greenwald is probably not really admirable). But Assange is famous among leftists — a rock star of anti-Americanism — and therefore is pursued by socialist groupies like Anna Ardin.

It’s kind of like how Professor Glenn Reynolds is the mack daddy of blogging. Chicks dig a guy with a big SiteMeter. IYKWIMAITYD.

Airport Shuttle Bus Driver Named ‘Muhammad’ Goes on Hit-and-Run Spree; ‘No Indication of Motive,’ Police Say

Posted on | December 15, 2010 | 13 Comments

Probably just having a bad day or something:

The driver of a speeding SuperShuttle van left a trail of damaged vehicles as he fled at least six hit-and-run crashes along Interstate 66 and the Dulles Access Road on Monday morning, police said.
Virginia State Police, Arlington County police and Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police were trying to determine what led to the series of crashes from Arlington to Dulles International Airport about 9:30 a.m.
The driver, whom police identified as Muhammad Teshale, 25, of Alexandria, was arrested outside the airport’s main terminal after authorities found the damaged blue van. . . .
Law enforcement officials close to the investigation said that the driver told police that he “did it to be famous.” The man drove the shuttle at 90 to 95 mph at times on roads that have speed limits of 55 mph, officials said. . . .
“He was going at a high rate of speed,” [Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne] Geller said. “But there is no indication of motive.”

Via Memeorandum. More at Jihad Watch, Weasel Zippers and Atlas Shrugs. Kinda weird they’re sending Smitty halfway around the world to look for terrorists, when they could have deployed him a half-hour from his house to protect us from the Bus-Driver Jihad in Virginiastan.

Rush Limbaugh Reads My Blog On Radio, Makes Mrs. Other McCain Angry

Posted on | December 15, 2010 | 19 Comments

OK, I’ll get around to why my wife is angry later. First, I gotta brag on making it into Rush’s “Stack of Stuff” :

This from the American Spectator blog from a couple days ago: “For decades, Americans have been lectured that there is exactly one standard by which sexual activity can be judged: Were the participants ‘consenting adults?’ Now comes the news that Columbia University political science professor David Epstein, 46, has been arrested and charged with having a three-year-long sexual affair — with his own daughter. The daughter, now 24, was an adult when this incestuous relationship (allegedly) began in 2006 and, while incest remains illegal in New York State, some commenter’s at the Columbia University student newspaper Web site are mystified as to why it’s illegal: ‘Wait, why is consensual incest a crime? It might not be appealing to everyone, but if they’re adults and they consent, who cares what they do?'” This is a typical comment from a student on the site.
“Readers might suppose that arguments involving phrases like ‘thou shalt not’ and words like ‘abomination’ are sternly frowned on at Columbia University, so that the faculty would have a hard time answering such a question from their students. Likewise, readers will scarcely be surprised to learn that Professor Epstein is an ardent admirer of President Obama and a vocal critic of Sarah Palin.” He has had an incestuous relationship with his own daughter. The students say it’s no big deal, they both agreed, it’s a consensual relationship. This guy is an admirer of Bam and doesn’t like Palin, behaves this way. You used to have some success using incest as a counter point to liberals who insisted that limiting marriage to a man and a woman was an unconstitutional violation of the equal-protection clause. If the student newspaper is gonna jump straight for defending incest, then we got a problem. If that’s in any way representative of that generation at large or hopefully it will be confined to the Columbia student body. But bestiality I guess would be next because who cares the horse didn’t consent? Well, I know we can’t tell people what to do with their own bodies and we can’t call it incest ’cause that’s a label and that is too limiting. Labels are too limiting.
Yeah, this is a major, major problem. It’s about freedom, total free, do what you want to do, as long as both people are involved in it and consent to it. Of course, does a daughter consent or does she feel pressured into it? I’m just asking. Well, I’m not trying to delve into the sickness of either one of them. I’m trying to ask legitimate questions that the American left would pose here. Have we not known things were headed and tracking in this direction morally? Have we not known this for years? All of the excuses, it’s not for you to judge. What two people want to do with their own bodies and lives is their business, except when it’s smoking, except when it’s eating, except when it’s things liberals don’t like. I don’t know if Woody Allen’s weighed in or not but he could be the poster child for it. He certainly at one time was the poster child for Democrat Party social policy.

So mega-dittos, Rush. Thanks for reading The American Spectator. Now let me explain why Mrs. Other McCain is mad at you.

To quote my wife: “He reads your stuff, but he never says your name! He’s been doing this ever since you came to Washington! He’s a big pussy-face — and you can tell him I said so!”

Well, that’s my wife, Rush. I’ve tried to explain to her that it’s most likely the “McCain” part that causes this problem. Even if you understand that I hate and detest everything John McCain represents, such is the toxic damage he’s done to the name, if you were to read my byline on the radio, you’d have to take two minutes to disambiguate me from my disgraceful cousin. And that wouldn’t be good radio, would it?

Anyway, thanks again.
