Emma Lindsay is a 32-year-old queer feminist who lives in San Francisco, where everybody is gay except for desperate heterosexual men. How desperate are they? Desperate enough to date Emma Lindsay.

Last year, Emma Lindsay’s blogging about sex — sex! sex! sex! — was the subject of an article I wrote called “Whatever Happened to Normal?”

When did every woman on the planet suddenly decide that she needs to relate her every sexual experience — and every thought she’s ever had about sex — for the entire Internet to read? Who would want to date someone like that, knowing that your every interaction is likely to be conveyed in detail (and critically analyzed) for the enjoyment of everybody with a Wifi hookup?

Like all queer feminists, Emma Lindsay is crazy. She dated men until she was in her mid-20s, then switched to dating women before she apparently noticed that her relationships with women were going the same place that her relationships with men had gone — nowhere.

One of her therapists, “who specialized in LGBTQ issues” asked her if she “was really bisexual, or just attached to the identity of bisexual.” She tried identifying as straight for a while, but that made her “miserable,” and later on she decided to “briefly identify as a lesbian, and assumed that my prior attractions to men had been due to the heteronormative brainwashing of society.” Hey, did I mention that Emma Lindsay is a queer feminist? And that “queer feminist” is a synonym for crazy?

Why Straight White Women Perpetuate the Patriarchy

That’s the headline on an article Emma Lindsay wrote last fall, denouncing “a highly insidious, type of patriarchy as women are denied access to success on their own and are reliant on their husbands.” Oh, what a terrible thing it is for wives to rely on their husbands, because patriarchy denies women “access to success on their own.”

Readers would be mistaken to think I dislike Emma Lindsay, because in fact I am deeply sympathetic to her. She is a victim of feminism, part of a generation of young women doomed to a future of barren loneliness by their belief in a false ideology, the Cult of Social Justice. Read more

College Communists Collapse

The Swarthmore Anti-Capitalist Collective has crumbled into “the ash heap of history,” Matthew Stein reports at Campus Reform:

A Marxist student group at Swarthmore College disbanded itself earlier this year after realizing that its members were too rich and too white to be real commies.
According to screenshots confidentially provided to Campus Reform by an individual with access to the group’s private Facebook page, the demise of the Swarthmore Anti-Capitalist Collective (SACC) came in the wake of a farewell letter from a member who had decided the group could never be an effective proponent of “unproblematized anticapitalist politics” due to its “history of abuse, racism, and even classism.”
“From my understanding SACC disbanded because they realized the makeup and tactics of their group was at odds with their espoused principles,” Swarthmore Conservative Society President Gilbert Guerra told Campus Reform. “Their main support base was middle-upper class white kids who enjoy jogging.” . . .
Arguing that “low-income people of color should never be an afterthought in a group whose politics supposedly focus on their liberation,” the author [of the letter disbanding the group] then went on to accuse SACC of having a “history of abuse, racism, and even classism that was never adequately addressed or recognized despite constantly being brought up as an issue.”

In January, calling themselves Swarthmore Marxists and Anti-Capitalists (SMAC), the college commie collective issued a manifesto in the student newspaper announcing a campus meeting:

We invite students disillusioned by the state of activism on Swarthmore’s campus to join our group and define our work. Fighting Trump requires an active and radical Left unwilling to compromise with the ascendant Fascism that is Trump and the far-right.

The annual cost of attending Swarthmore — tuition, fees, room and board — is $63,550, which amounts to $254,220 for a four-year degree. Rich white kids who hate themselves for being rich and white don’t seem to mind asking their rich white Mommy and Daddy to spend a quarter-million bucks for them to attend an elite private college.

For some reason, these young bourgeois Bolsheviks consider it beneath their dignity to enroll at, say, Penn State ($29,760 a year, or less than half the cost of attending Swarthmore). Of course, if they’re so concerned with “classism,” maybe the commies at Swarthmore could just drop out of college and get a job, but the vanguard of the proletariat can’t be bothered to get their hands dirty doing any actual work.

Marxism is supposed to be about revolution — the violent overthrow of the capitalist system. If Swarthmore’s Marxists wanted to strike a blow against the regime, they could go home and burn down their family’s 5BR/4BA on that quiet suburban cul-de-sac where they grew up. Or they could liquidate their trust fund, give the money to the Black Lives Matters movement, move to Pyongyang and enjoy the glories of socialism.

Along with the rest of the soi-disant #resistance, the Swarthmore commies are fundamentally unserious in their “anti-fascist” rhetoric. Like the college feminists who claim to want to “smash patriarchy,” but who don’t mind Daddy paying big bucks to send them an elite private school, these spoiled brats at Swarthmore call themselves “Marxists” as a sort of political fashion statement in an effort to win the campus virtue-signaling contest. Their parents’ wealth has purchased them a four-year holiday from reality, an academic vacation during which they can engage in juvenile gestures of make-believe Marxism that are no more radical than frat boys doing drinking stunts on Spring Break.

 

The pathetic failure of the Swarthmore Anti-Capitalist Collective would be mere comedy, were it not for the fact that these adolescent misfits are a perfect example of the dangerous ignorance that now prevails among so-called “elite” students. None of these college Bolsheviks has ever been required to study the real history of Communism. They haven’t read Robert Conquest’s The Great Terror, or The Harvest of Sorrow, nor do they know anything about the sordid history of the American Left. They’ve never read Destructive Generation by Peter Collier and David Horowitz or The Secret World of American Communism by Harvey Klehr, John Earl Haynes and Fridrikh Igorevich Firsov. Utterly ignorant of the tragic consequences of Communism in the 20th century, young fools want to revive this deadly idea in the 21st century.

The Left is always wrong, but never in doubt. Their bad ideas would be less dangerous, if they were not so fanatically certain they were right. Yet our college campuses are crowded with young fools, who are tutored in their folly by old fools who have spent their entire adult lives in the academic cocoon where intellectual abstractions are more important than real-life consequences and there is no penalty for being wrong.

Twitter Is Losing Nearly $40 Million a Month, and Still Banning Conservatives

Here’s a number: $116.5 million.

That’s how much money Twitter lost during the second quarter this year, which is 9% more than what Twitter lost in the same quarter last year.

In other words, Twitter’s “burn rate” has increased in the past year, to the point that they’re now losing $38.8 million each month. Every day of the week, Twitter loses $1.3 million. The losing never stops and, at the current rate, Twitter will lose more than $470 million this year.

Did I mention that I was banned from Twitter in February 2016?

I’d been on Twitter since 2009 and my account had tens of thousands of followers, but the claim that I was “participating in targeted abuse” was offered to justify my banishment, even though Twitter never said what the alleged “abuse” was, who had been “targeted,” or how I had been “participating.” This act of censorship exposed how Twitter had decided, in an election year, to surrender control of its platform to a crew of feminist social justice warriors (SJWs) designated the “Trust and Safety Council.” This secretive group of Soviet-style commissars included the notorious anti-male hatemonger Anita Sarkeesian, and soon Twitter began purging conservative accounts.

Twitter stock, which was trading at $51 a share in April 2015, is now at $17, having lost fully two-thirds of its former value. Twitter’s response to declining value? BAN MORE CONSERVATIVES:

The Twitter account of Breitbart London editor in chief Raheem Kassam has been suspended by the platform, just days after he announced the forthcoming publication of his new book on Radical Islam. . . .
Kassam implied the sudden decision of Twitter to suspend his account just days after he revealed the controversial cover art of the forthcoming book which challenges radical Islam may have been more than just a coincidence when he took to rival social media Facebook to reveal the shutdown. Kassam also said that his account had never been shut down before.

Raheem’s account was restored after a 12-hour suspension — and pre-orders for his book made it No. 1 on the Amazon bestsellers list — but the point is that liberals are never targeted for such treatment. Can you name even one liberal journalist who has been suspended or banned from Twitter? Yet the known bans on conservatives — including me, Charles C. Johnson of GotNews.com and former Breitbart tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos — continue in force, which is to say nothing of the numerous lesser-known account suspensions. Last fall, just six weeks before the election, Twitter actually suspended Instapundit — Professor Glenn Reynolds, a USA Today columnist — for a three-word tweet about the violent riots in Charlotte, N.C. Meanwhile, by contrast, Twitter provides blue-check “verified” status to transgender pornographer Zachary Antolak/“Zinnia Jones”/“Satana Kennedy.”

There is an undeniable pattern of bias at Twitter, whose executives consider their political agenda more important than profit. Does anyone imagine that a company staffed by social justice warriors (SJWs) is a smart investment? Twitter management has effectively yielded control of the company to socialists, anarchists and other enemies of capitalism. Are you surprised that they’re losing nearly $40 million a month?
