Crazy People Are Dangerous
Posted on | September 1, 2024 | Comments Off on Crazy People Are Dangerous

Say hello to Corey Cobb-Bey and, while you’re at it, go ahead and say good-bye, because he died Thursday night in the proverbial hail of police gunfire after he murdered a Dallas cop and wounded two others.
Four months ago, I warned about this particular kind of craziness (see “The ‘Moorish Sovereign Citizen’ Menace,” April 30):
Preferring a bogus mythology over actual history is irrational, pointing toward deep-rooted psychiatric problems. Crazy ideas attract crazy people, making it difficult to unravel cause and effect. Does this “Moorish” nonsense make people crazy, or were they crazy to begin with? Probably it’s a little of both, but the bottom line is, by the time one of these imaginary “Moors” gets into a confrontation with law enforcement, there’s a risk of deadly violence, because Crazy People Are Dangerous.
Tracing the history of this “Moorish” stuff — the self-evidently false claim that black Americans are descended from Moroccans and therefore exempt from U.S. law because of some 18th-century treaty — is in some sense futile, because the people who fall for it are not going to be dissuaded by facts and logic (tools of the White Devil).
Headline from Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA-TV:
Father of suspected
Dallas police shooter said his son
had been acting strange recently
“Recently”? No, sir, your son had been acting strange for years, but maybe you weren’t paying attention. Trust me, I’ve skimmed through Corey’s Facebook page and this descent into madness is not recent.
Go watch that video and tell me, is he crazy or not? His new identity immediately led Corey Cobb to trouble with police:
In 2017, Cobb was charged with intentionally providing false information to the police.
Officers initially pulled him over for having an expired registration.
When police asked for his name, he told officers it was Coremour Bey.
According to documents, when the police asked for his birthdate, Cobb allegedly replied, “That is private information, you can find everything you need with just my name.”
Cobb was arrested for his traffic violations.
The surname “Bey” is apparently common in Morocco, and many “Moorish” black Americans incorporate it into their new identities, e.g., John Jones Bey of Indianapolis, who was arrested after a 2017 standoff with police, and Kyran Caples, a/k/a “Kmac El Bey,” who died in a shootout with deputies in Polk County, Florida, in April this year.
A fair amount of my journalistic career has been devoted to reporting about kooky extremists, on the theory that all really influential movements start out on the “fringe” of politics. That’s why, for example, I rode to Denver in a van full of Libertarian delegates to the 2008 convention that nominated Bob Barr for president. Longtime readers may recall when I was targeted in 2012 by “Anonymous” hackers because of my criticism of their pro-Hamas activism. Today’s fringe kooks may become tomorrow’s mainstream, so it’s important to pay attention to them, and I’ve got a track record of solid hunches on this stuff:
The maniac who killed three police in Baton Rouge and wounded three others was both racist and insane. Ranting against “crackers” on YouTube, talking about “revolution” and “my people” with the delusional grandiosity typical of a paranoid schizophrenic . . .
That was July 2016, and it was subsequently learned that “Gavin Eugene Long was deranged, daft, demented, cracked, zany, wacko, bonkers, off his rocker and a few fries short of a Happy Meal,” who had filed paperwork in 2015 “declaring himself Cosmo Ausar Setepenra, a ‘sovereign citizen’ of the United Washitaw De Dugdahmoundyah Mu’ur nation.” This group was founded in the 1990s by a Louisiana woman named Verdiacee Hampton Goston, a/k/a “Empress Verdiacee Tiari Washitaw Turner Goston El-Bey,” and is sort of a rogue splinter of the Moorish Science Temple of America. All of this may seem like a laughable absurdity to you, but the fact is that this “Moorish” insanity keeps resulting in cops being shot, as happened Thursday night in Dallas:

Dallas Police Officer Darron Burks
The Dallas Police Department provided an emotional update after Officer Darron Burks was shot and killed, saying that the former high school teacher was “executed” while in the line of duty.
In a press conference Friday, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia said that the department had lost a “brother” and a “hero” following the shooting.
“As a department and as a family, we are devastated,” Garcia said. “Last night we lost a brother, a hero. Officer Darron Burks was a son, a nephew, a friend to many, and he was senselessly and tragically murdered in the line of duty.”
The shooting, which happened around 10 p.m. Thursday night near the Oak Cliff Community Center, killed Burks and wounded two other officers. The suspected gunman, identified as 30-year-old Corey Cobb-Bey, was killed in a shootout with police.
“We came close to losing other officers,” Garcia said. “Officers who put their lives on the line to protect their brother, and it is by the grace of God that they are still with us today.”
The chief of police said that the officers were “targeted” by Cobb-Bey.
“Our officers were targeted by nothing more than the uniforms that they wear and for the brave and honorable job that they do,” he said. “I want to be clear here, the word ambush has been thrown around in the last 24 hours. That is not what happened here. Officer Burks was executed.” . . .
“Cobb-Bey approached Burks and talked with him briefly at the driver’s side of the window as he recorded the encounter with a cellphone,” he said. “The suspect then pulled out a handgun and executed Officer Burks as he sat in his vehicle.”
Police said they got a 911 call about an officer in distress. Responding officers found Burks in his marked patrol vehicle critically injured.
At 10:11 p.m., Senior Corporal Jamie Farmer pulled into the parking lot after responding to a call for backup. Farmer was met with gunfire from Cobb-Bey. When Farmer returned fire, Cobb-Bey grabbed the shotgun and fired at Farmer, hitting him in the leg.
A minute later, Senior Corporal Karissa David arrived on the scene.
The Cobb-Bey ran toward David, shooting at her multiple times while she exited her vehicle.
David was shot in the face, according to police.
The officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect, and two additional officers were shot.
The suspect was shot and killed at the end of a high-speed police chase on Interstate 35 from Dallas to Lewisville.
All because of some lunatic “Moorish” bullshit and exactly what is being done about this? You can get banned from social media as an “election denier” for suggesting that Joe Biden didn’t get 81 million votes, and yet people are permitted to post all kinds of this “sovereign citizen” propaganda without consequences? When it can be demonstrated as a fact that this leads to deadly violence? People need to wake up.

Why Would Kamala Harris Lie About Working at McDonald’s Circa 1983?
Posted on | August 29, 2024 | Comments Off on Why Would Kamala Harris Lie About Working at McDonald’s Circa 1983?

Other than the fact that she lies about everything:
The first all-female audience ever on The Drew Barrymore Show was whooping and cheering for Kamala Harris, its guest of honor, this April when Barrymore’s sidekick, Ross Matthews, threw a softball at the vice president.
“I heard a rumor that you worked at McDonald’s?”
“I did. Yes, I did work at McDonald’s,” laughed Harris. “When I was at school … I did fries. And then I did the cashier.”
“I didn’t know that about you,” gasped Barrymore.
Neither did anyone who followed Harris’s long career in public life — that is, until she ran for president in 2019 and began to make the job a centerpiece of her biography.
Harris’s work at McDonald’s, which allegedly took place at a franchise in the California Bay Area the summer after her freshman year in college, is a recent addition to her carefully curated life story. For decades, Harris never mentioned it, not on the campaign trail nor in two books. It’s absent from a job application and résumé she submitted a year after she graduated from college. Third-party biographers did not write about it. Not until Harris ran for president in 2019 and spoke to a labor rally in Las Vegas did she mention the job, telling the crowd that she “was a student when I was working in a McDonald’s.”
McDonald’s boasts that one in eight Americans has worked at the fast food chain, and Harris, whose campaign is light on policy and heavy on image, has been using her fast food job to portray what the Washington Post, in a credulous piece this month on the Harris-McDonald’s connection, described as “her humble background.” (Harris is the daughter of an eminent cancer researcher, whom her campaign calls “a working mother,” and a tenured Stanford economist, who split when Harris and her sister were children.)
Early this month, Harris’s campaign said she used her McDonald’s wages to pay for college. “Vice President Harris is the daughter of a working mother and worked at a McDonald’s to put herself through college,” campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said this month. A pro-Harris super PAC ad said she “work[ed] her way through school at McDonald’s.” And former president Bill Clinton, at the Democratic National Convention, joked that “she’ll break my record as president who has spent the most time at McDonald’s.”
At the same time, however, Harris’s image makers tweaked the story ever so slightly. According to an August 14 item in Politico, an early cut of a Harris campaign ad said she worked at McDonald’s to “pay her way” through college. Aides changed the script to reflect that “she really took the summer job just to earn a bit more spending money,” as Politico put it.
The Politico story, which was published just hours after the Washington Free Beacon reached out to the Harris campaign with a series of detailed questions about Harris’s claims regarding her job at McDonald’s, didn’t say when exactly—or where—Harris worked at the restaurant. The campaign did not respond to the Free Beacon’s inquiries.
It is possible that Harris did indeed work at McDonald’s in the early 1980s. But the absence of that detail in public records and her campaign’s coyness and refusal to provide any further details raise questions about what is now a foundational narrative.
On Monday, the New York Times reported without attribution that Harris, who was born in Oakland, Calif., and moved to Montreal with her mother and younger sister when she was 12, “return[ed] to the Bay Area for a summer during college when she worked at a McDonald’s in Alameda, a city next to Oakland.” Harris was attending college at Howard University in Washington, D.C.
If some details of the job have varied, while others are murky, that might be because there is no record of Harris mentioning the McDonald’s job before that labor rally in Las Vegas in June 2019.
The job goes unmentioned in both of her memoirs, published in July 2010 and January 2019.
The Truths We Hold, published ahead of her maiden presidential bid, does include a passage on the “many jobs” she held in college, with no reference to McDonald’s. It also devotes a chapter to the struggles of the working class and assails the service industry’s “starvation wages.” Harris’s McDonald’s job is similarly absent from her 2009 book, Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer.
Two biographies written about Harris make no mention of the job, either. . . .
Far be it from me to commit a logical fallacy — the absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Just because you can’t prove that Harris worked at McDonald’s, that’s not proof that she didn’t work at McDonald’s.
It is certainly curious — and probably not a coincidence — that the first time we know of Harris mentioning this alleged McDonald’s job is at a union rally during her first (and failed) presidential campaign. Whether she did or didn’t work at McDonald’s, this claim would help her seem as if she could relate to the plight of workers. But why not mention it in any of her previous campaigns, for California attorney general or U.S. Senate? Why wait until 2019? It’s sort of like Christine Blasey Ford waiting more than 30 years to mention the alleged sexual assault committed against her when she was a prep school girl. “Question the timing.”
How long before questions about Kamala Harris’s alleged employment at McDonald’s rate a “Republicans pounce” headline from the media?
Well, well. She never worked at McDonalds. pic.twitter.com/WduvfAsDMq

Do Taxpayers in Madison, Wisconsin, Want Schools to Celebrate a Killer?
Posted on | August 27, 2024 | Comments Off on Do Taxpayers in Madison, Wisconsin, Want Schools to Celebrate a Killer?

Sumter County is in south Georgia, north of Albany and west of Cordele. The county seat is Americus, but arguably the most famous town in Sumter County is Plains, from which hometown a certain peanut farmer grew up to be President of the United States. The county is largely rural, with a population of less than 30,000, more than half of whom live in Americus. About five miles southeast of downtown Americus, Lamar Road runs from District Line Road down toward Lake Blackshear, a distance of about 14 miles. It was past 9 o’clock on the night of October 28, 2011, when a motorist driving along Lamar Road saw something that he first believed to be a dead deer in the road, but which turned out to be a naked human body. A 911 call brought sheriff’s deputies and other authorities to the scene, where it was discovered that the deceased “John Doe” was a Hispanic male, who had been shot to death. Soon, authorities were able to identify the vehicle that dumped the body there:
“We had several eyewitnesses who were able to give us a description of the vehicle,” [Georgia Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Trebor] Randle said.
“The person or persons who were responsible for this were supposed to be in an older model Grand Marquis,” said [Sumter County Sheriff Pete] Smith.
Just a few miles away from the crime scene a tan, 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis proved valuable in the case. Spotted in the Lexington Circle Mobile Home Park, evidence like a bloody blanket in which the body was apparently wrapped was discovered inside. . . .
Investigators served a warrant on a Lexington mobile home. It was here where agents say the John Doe victim was shot in the torso. His suspected killers — young siblings.

Kenyota Maria Peterson, 20, was charged with murder, as were her two younger brothers, Adam Peterson, 14, and Clarence Coleman, 16 — both juveniles charged as adults. The victim was identified as Samuel Chavez, 29, a native of Honduras whose immigration status was unclear. Eventually, Kenyota Peterson accepted a plea bargain and was sentenced to prison on a manslaughter charge, but I never would have heard of this case had it not been for Chaya Raichik’s LibsOfTikTok account posting those photos reportedly taken inside a school in Madison, Wisconsin. That weird jargon about “heteronormative thinking” and a “queer affirming network” led me to click on the picture and zoom in.

Who is Ky Peterson? Seeing this name, my first thought was that Ky Peterson might be an academic, a college professor of Gender Studies perhaps, who had furnished this quote about “heteronomative thinking.” But then I started Googling and discovered that Ky Peterson was, for a few years, a cause célèbre in the LGBTQ+ rights movement. Kenyota Peterson, the woman convicted of killing Samuel Chavez, now identified as a man and was, according to activists, a victim of injustice, who had wrongly been sent to prison for shooting her (or “his”) rapist.
Peterson was released from custody in 2020, and has since disappeared from the headlines, but it took a good bit of research on my part to uncover the truth about this case, because most of what turns up in a Google search for “Ky Peterson” is just a rather deceptive boilerplate summary of claims by activists:

We demand justice for Ky Peterson, a Black transgender man incarcerated in Georgia for defending himself against transphobic sexual violence. We call upon Governor Nathan Deal and the State Board of Pardons & Paroles to pardon and release Ky Peterson now!
Ky Peterson grew up in a small South Georgia farming town. Though Ky struggled for acceptance as a transgender man, he had the love of his family. Ky worked hard to support his mom and three younger siblings and volunteered at an assisted living home and the American Red Cross in his free time.
On October 28, 2011, the life that Ky Peterson knew came to an end. Ky and his younger brothers walked to a neighborhood convenience store. After making his purchase, he waited outside for them. Ky was approached by a man who made sexual advances toward him. When Ky asked the man to leave him alone, the man uttered derogatory insults as he drove away. Ky told his brothers that he was walking home first, leaving them to follow. As he passed an abandoned trailer, the same man who had approached Ky earlier attacked him from behind. He dragged Ky into the abandoned trailer and sexually assaulted him. Ky fought back in self-defense, which ultimately led to his attacker’s death.
Oh, really? That 2018 petition repeats a version of events told by the accused murderer, and the claim that Peterson was “forced” to accept a plea bargain is self-evidently false. Peterson was free to take her (or “his”) chances with a jury trial, but in view of the possibility of life in prison if convicted, made what seemed to her (or “him”) the smart move. And while many “activist” types might second-guess that choice, I fail to see how it constitutes an “injustice.” Also, notice the assertion that Peterson was the victim of “transphobic sexual violence” despite the absence of any evidence that Samuel Chavez knew anything about Peterson being transgender. And guess what? Basically every convicted murderer in prison claims to be innocent, so this tale told by Ky Peterson ought to be considered skeptically. Beyond that, however, can somebody please explain to me why Ky Peterson is featured on this poster displayed in a Wisconsin public school? It makes no sense at all.
How did this convicted killer gain heroic status? It can be traced to a 2015 article in The Advocate with the headline, “This Black Trans Man Is in Prison for Killing His Rapist,” which assumes as its core truth a controversial claim about a man who, of course, is not able to tell his side of the story — because Ky Peterson killed him. The article dramatizes Peterson’s version of what happened, even while it discloses (way down in the story, if you read carefully) some inconvenient facts about the case.
First, neither Peterson nor her juvenile brothers were strangers to the criminal justice system. The 14-year-old “was already well-known by local law enforcement after numerous violent outbursts at school landed him in juvenile detention, where he allegedly assaulted a correctional officer,” while the 16-year-old was, at the time of Samuel Chavez’s death, wearing an ankle monitor while on home detention because of a prior burglary conviction. Ky Peterson herself had a prior criminal history dating back to her own juvenile years, and as an adult had faced charges of probation violation in 2008, disorderly conduct in 2008 and 2010, and civil contempt in August 2011. This is the person we’re told volunteered with the Red Cross and an assisted living home, OK?
Second, while the article repeats Peterson’s claim of being the victim of a surprise attack by Chavez — she was walking home through the trailer park, she says, when she was knocked unconscious — her own brothers told quite a different story: “Peterson’s brothers told investigators that the entire incident was a scheme of Peterson’s design; that Peterson asked them to help [her] rob the stranger after Peterson lured him in with a promise of sex.” As Lt. Joe Kenda might say, “Well, well, well!”
Third — and this is important — Samuel Chavez was drunk. His sister lived in the same trailer park as Peterson’s family, just off U.S. 280 southeast of Americus. Apparently, Chavez had gone to his sister’s trailer, but she wasn’t there. He “consumed several alcoholic beverages” while awaiting her return, then told family members that he was going to the nearby convenience store. It was there Chavez encountered Peterson.

Get N Go Foodmart on U.S. 280
After his body was discovered, an autopsy found that Samuel Chavez had a blood-alcohol content of 0.165 — twice the legal limit for a drunk-driving charge. Chavez was seriously impaired, staggering drunk, and exactly what happened between him and Peterson after the encounter at the store cannot be determined. However, a rape exam was performed on Peterson, and it is reported that Peterson’s DNA was found on Chavez’s penis, but this must be weighed in the context of what her brothers told investigators, i.e., that there was a scheme to lure Chavez with an offer of sex in order to rob him at gunpoint. Peterson has told her (or “his”) version of the story, but dead men tell no tales, so we don’t have Chavez’s version of events. While it’s possible a jury might have found enough reasonable doubt to render a verdict of acquittal, Peterson’s acceptance of a plea deal was her choice. Strip away all the drama about “transphobic sexual violence,” and what you find in The Advocate article (please, read the whole thing) is that perhaps the public defender assigned to Peterson’s case didn’t do a very good job, and there was apparently some confusion about what charge Peterson pleaded guilty to — was it voluntary or involuntary manslaughter? She seems to have thought she was pleading to involuntary manslaughter, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, but was instead sentenced to 20 years, which is the maximum for voluntary manslaughter. Whatever the case, however, she was ultimately released after a total of less than nine years behind bars, so what’s the difference at this point? Case closed.
The only real mystery is why Ky Peterson is showing up as a cartoon character on “queer affirming” posters in a Wisconsin public school.
