Family Terrorized as Michigan Teachers Support Colleague Who Molested Boy

Posted on | August 24, 2013 | 518 Comments

Former middle-school teacher Neal Erickson, 38, pleaded guilty in May to having sex with a boy beginning in 2006 — when the boy was a 14-year-old eighth-grader — until 2009. His fellow teachers in Ogemaw County, Michigan, supported Erickson, writing letters to the judge asking for a lenient sentence. Any parent would be horrified by the sentiments expressed, for example, by Rose City teacher Sally Campbell:

“Neal made a mistake. He allowed a mutual friendship to develop into much more. He realized his mistake and ended it years before someone anonymously sent something to the authorities which began this legal process. . . . Please also consider that this was a one-time relationship with only one student and ended long before being found out. Both parties have gone on with their lives.”

He molested a 14-year-old boy, ma’am. To call this “a one-time relationship” — words fail. A relationship? A middle-school teacher and a 14-year-old boy in a “relationship”? Are you insane?

The parents of the victim in this case were outraged to see Erickson’s fellow teachers supporting this confessed criminal pervert, whose molestation of their son caused horrible problems:

The victim’s mother also spoke prior to sentencing, telling Erickson he violated her son and caused a rift in the family. She said the family appeared happy on the outside, but on the inside, the home was a “battle zone.”
“We couldn’t figure out why (the victim) hated us,” she said. “He went after his father. There were physical fights.” . . .
“You were his teacher,” she said. “You were his mentor. You were his friend. And you violated him.”
She added the victim kept the sexual encounters a secret and suffered because of it.
“He kept all of this a secret, and he went through emotional pains,” she said.

Permit me to digress: Do you think there might be . . . oh, I don’t know, an agenda involved here? Do you think Neal Erickson’s fellow teachers would have supported him like this if he had carried on a secret three-year sexual affair with an underaged girl? I think not.

Because it was a gay thing, see, Neal Erickson has “rights,” just like Kaitlyn Hunt has a “right” to have lesbian sex with a 14-year-old.

Nobody in the gay-rights movement or the educational establishment wants to admit that this is what is going on, that they are making excuses for gay people to have sex with minors, but that’s what it’s really about. It’s a good thing Neal Erickson isn’t a Catholic priest, or else this might be an actual scandal. But I digress . . .

Thank God, Circuit Court Judge Michael Baumgartner disregarded the pleas for leniency and imposed a 15-30-year sentence:

After making a decision on the sentencing, Baumgartner said he could not believe people were supporting Erickson after the issue came to light.
“I’m appalled and ashamed that the community could rally around, in this case, you,” he said.
“What you did was a jab in the eye with a sharp stick to every parent who trusts a teacher,” Baumgartner added.

The family of the victim has demanded that the teachers who supported criminal pervert Neal Erickson be fired, and have begun a petition drive to recall school board members who supported the criminal pervert. And guess what happened next?

A garage fire at John and Lori Janczewski’s house on Grandjean Road near Rose City destroyed the couple’s garage and melted the siding on their home early Saturday morning.
Lt. Melvin Matthews, post commander for the Michigan State Police Post in West Branch, said the fire is being ruled as arson. He said evidence gathered at the scene is being analyzed by the MSP crime lab, and new leads gathered since the incident occurred are being investigated.
The Janczewskis believe it was someone responding to their outspokenness against several West Branch-Rose City teachers and a board member, who they said publicly supported Neal Erickson, a former WB-RC teacher who recently pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct against the Janczewski’s son. . . .
John Janczewski said he doesn’t understand why someone would do something like this to his family.
“We don’t deserve this,” he said in tears. “We’re not a bad family. We’ve done nothing but stand up for our son, the victim. They could have killed my whole family. Whoever’s done this has no remorse. They have no soul.”
John Janczewski said he and his wife do not plan to stop. They are currently circulating petitions for the recall of WB-RC board member Mike Eagan.
“Whoever’s done this, we’re not going to quit,” he said. “We’re not giving up. We’re going to continue to fight, until the end.”

School teachers who are insane enough to support a criminal pervert are insane enough to commit any crime themselves.

Erica Ritz told the Janszewski family’s story Monday at The Blaze.

It’s time to wake up, America: Our country is now so close to the gates of Hell you can feel the heat and smell the brimstone.

You know, speaking of this topic (the actual topic of this post), there are NO national numbers on sex abuse of students committed by teachers. It’s never been studied. The FBI has NEVER gathered the numbers. Congress has never set aside money for a study. Nobody has ever pulled the crime stats.

    I wonder why (*cough*unions*cough*)

I was able to find one survey from 2000 that pooled from 1600 students and it was disturbing. Scary, scary shit. Hope you don’t have kids in school.

  15. La Pucelle
    August 26th, 2013 @ 10:10 pm

Nope. If/when I ever do have kids, I am so homeschooling. I’ve been a substitute teacher, so I had the special joy of seeing things from the inside. There are a lot of fantastic, honest, dedicated teachers out there, but the current system is far too much of a Russian roulette where your chances of getting somewhere in the range between — at best — an ignorant and worthless one to a sexual predator are greater than getting a good one. After elementary school it gets even worse. It’s not a chance I’m willing to take.

Our prisons have undergone a revolution. Where once a pervert was as good as dead, it is becoming far too commonplace. Minimum penalty in this case should have been castration. Oh, you want chemical castration? Howzabout Tanerite?
I am in 100% agreement on this case. With regard to #kate, not as much. The only problem I have with that is the homosexuality issue. Were it a 14 YO girl and a 19 YO boy or a 14 YO boy and a 19YO girl, I would not care. They are kids in school, and in two years, they would be statuatorily legal, when the “supposed” victim reached 16. She after all received close on 2000 texts. If she were a victim rather then a misquided teen, she would have reported it after one. Fourteen is no inocent cherub, they are raging balls of horomone driven fury.and stupidity. 14 is a touch too late to teach morals. You as a parent must do it when they are three, otherwise the schools will birth you a monster like that case.
We see right here just what the schools supply, don’t we?

Not that I’m in favor of child sex, but you guys know that age of consent is a relatively recent concept, and that in several cultures girls were engaged as soon as their periods started (sometimes even earlier), right? That means anyone in history (gay or straight) could have been a pedophile. Everyone knows about Muhammad, but how many know that Mary was married to Joseph during her early teens (and impregnated NOT by him)?

  19. Harry70
    August 27th, 2013 @ 12:23 am

A large number of men who molest boys identify as heterosexual and most have sexual relationships with adult women. Pedophiles generally don’t care which type of genitalia a child has.

I supports neither. Saying what happened is far different than supporting it. If you had the biblical knowledge you claim, you’d know this. Instead you simply spout ignorantly hoping we’ll low info enough to buy your BS. Sorry about your luck on that score, but you’ve come to the wrong place for that.

The results of the study have never been challenged because there are no grounds to challenge them on. OTOH, you will claim otherwise, but attacking the people who did the study is not the same thing, as you well know.
The idea of reparative therapy is well founded. Homosexuality is a mental illness and such people can be helped. That does not mean it is easy for the victim of such a serious disorder, but they can be helped.
OTOH, they have to want to be helped, and it would seem you think that such things are BS because you want them to BS. Once more, that is far different than you having grounds to call them such, and I have yet to see anyone come up with solid grounds to reject. Just a lot of shouting screaming and bawling about the people that would dare make and do studies to test their hypothesis. But, then, Psychology and Psychiatry long ago gave up any credibility on the assertion of science as they have whore their little selves out for PC purposes. The two are pseudosciences and have the status of shamanism.

  38. _abe_
    August 27th, 2013 @ 12:09 pm

It’s well documented that having more than one wife was acceptable for the ancient Hebrews (just look at Solomon) until after the Roman conquest of Israel; polygamy is still practiced in some Jewish communities (like in Yemen). As for incest, how else did Adam and Eve’s children reproduce (if you believe that sort of thing)? By the way, this is what your precious book says about traditional marriage:

  39. rmnixondeceased
    August 27th, 2013 @ 12:11 pm

All those “priests” who violated their vows and the trust of those under their care (less than 0.01% of Priests worldwide, a much lower percentage that teachers) have been and are being prosecuted, removed, defrocked and censured by the Vatican as well as those in the hierarchy who aided and covered-up their crimes. I wish the same could be said for the teachers who do the same (and the school boards that hide these events).
Humans are sinful and easily fall into error. Our higher, moral selves recognize this and put laws in place to regulate and punish those who commit these acts. The very fact that a certain political philosophy (or ideology) conflates and condemns an entire faith because of bad acts of some members while ignoring a huge number (in relative terms) of the same bad acts by members of their voter base is disingenuous at best.
Remember, it was the cover-up of criminal acts that was the basis of the Watergate scandal, not the criminal act itself. The Vatican has/is punishing those who facilitated or covered up the criminal acts of sexual misconduct/pedophilia of those “priests” you cite.

NARTH is notorious for twisting and reinterpreting other studies to suit their claims. Reparative therapy is scientifically groundless and potentially dangerous. That’s the reason Exodus International shut down. Even Chris Christie (R) signed a law banning that form of “therapy” for minors.

    From Merriam Webster:
    Definition of MYTH:
“a : a usually traditional story of ostensibly historical events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon

    b : parable, allegory ”

That’s what most of the stories in the Bible are: myths.

Once more you display your ignorance of scripture. Men were not to “multiply wives” or take more than one wife. God tolerated it, but the warnings that God gave about it came to pass in the life of Jacob, David and Solomon. God’s model was that demonstrated in the garden, one man and one woman for life.
