The Government of Peru has declared a state of emergency in parts of the southern Andean region of Puno after temperatures have plummeted to the coldest they have been in a decade. President Ollanta Humala announced emergency states in seven separate Puno provinces: Carabay, Sandia, Lampa, San Antonio de Putina, Melgar, Puno and El Collao.
Not only have hundreds of families been affected, but more than 250,000 alpacas have died due to the freezing temperatures.

  1. At the end of the day, it all boils down to the fact that the best temperature records are in the U.S. and that said record is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:U.S._Temperature_Record_(1950_to_2009)_(PNG).png

    As in: temperatures on average have increased by only one single degree F… less than the change that you could have from someone waving their arms besides their face.

    Heck, look at the short-term fluctuations there! The temperature in your general middle American city was the same back the year I was born, 1988, then it was compared to the year that I got my started on my M.S., back in the waning days of Bush.

    And yeah, I’ll treat “climate change” like a crisis when the people who say it’s a crisis act like it actually is a crisis.

  7. Strange how people in, for example, NYC get off telling people who live in what they call fly over country how to treat the environment. They live in the least natural setting possible and the only thing bigger than their utility bills is their waste output.
