What Kind of ‘Militants’ Are They?

Posted on | April 30, 2014 | 21 Comments

Probably radical Lutherans, I’d guess:

For two weeks, retired teacher Samson Dawah prayed for news of his niece Saratu, who was among more than 230 schoolgirls snatched by Boko Haram militants in the north-eastern Nigerian village of Chibok. Then on Monday the agonising silence was broken.
When Dawah called together his extended family members to give an update, he asked that the most elderly not attend, fearing they would not be able to cope with what he had to say. “We have heard from members of the forest community where they took the girls. They said there had been mass marriages and the girls are being shared out as wives among the Boko Haram militants,” Dawah told his relatives.
Saratu’s father fainted; he has since been in hospital. The women of the family have barely eaten. “My wife keeps asking me, why isn’t the government deploying every means to find our children,” Dawah said. The marriage reports have not been confirmed officially, and rely on eyewitnesses.
The 14 April abduction of the girls — students aged between 16 and 18 who were sitting a physics paper at their school, one of a handful in troubled Borno state that had opened specially for final exams — shocked a nation inured to violence during a five year-insurgency. . . .

You see we’re now four paragraphs into a story about these girl-raping “militants” who have fought a “five-year insurgency” in Nigeria, and yet there is not a word to indicate what the “Boko Harm militants” are all about. Spoiler alert: You can read all the way through the Guardian article and never get even a clue that Boko Haram is also known as “The Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad” (Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-da’wa wal-Jihad), a terrorist organization founded by Mohammed Yusuf in 2002, which “seeks to establish a ‘pure’ Islamic state ruled by sharia law.”

So, 250 teenage schoolgirls are kidnapped and reportedly forced into Islamic “marriage” to their terrorist captors — a practice justified by reference to the Koran and other Muslim teachings —  and these violent girl-rapers are just “militants,” you see.

“It’s unbearable. . . . The abduction of our
children and the news of them being married off is
like hearing of the return of the slave trade,” said
Yakubu Ubalala, whose 17- and 18-year-old daughters
Kulu and Maimuna are among the disappeared.

Thanks, Militants of the Religion No Liberal Dares to Name!

Well, it’s the Guardian, published in Britain which is now about 85% down the road to being an Islamic state. And don’t forget, they arrest you in the UK if you speak ill of Islam.

‘Twas wise on the part of The Guardian, given that one British politician was arrested for quoting Winston Churchill on Islam.

Indeed, given that this site is accessible in the United Kingdom, I’m not sure that the UK couldn’t, or wouldn’t, issue a warrant for your arrest, and formally request that you be extradited.

Just a small point of interest: “Boko Haram” means, literally, “Western Education is Sinful.” They’re quite focused on the task of preventing anyone, particularly females, from learning anything – outside what their imams tell them is in the Koran.

    Ignorance is Strength, brother.

Shouldn’t Joe Biden go and kick their ass? I thought that is what a real man does when he sees women being abused?

I can’t answer that question without sounding like Bill Schmalfeldt. While it would fit perfectly, I don’t want to lower myself that far.

Maybe they wouldn’t have to do any kidnapping if they went to Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins, Colorado:

For a minute there, I thought you meant to post about him in this post:

Of course, if it were relevant to Bill, it would be a “fantasy” about anally raping a conservative’s 6-year old child.

The thing I can’t understand about this is that the Nigerian government doesn’t seem too bothered.

They should be going after these people and hunting them down like dogs. Exterminate them, burn their homes, and salt the earth. No negotiation, no diplomacy, no mercy.

These are extreme measures, but If you won’t protect your girls, if you aren’t willing to dish out disproportionate and overwhelming violence to people who steal your children, your society is doomed. There’s a good reason why mama bears will tear you apart if you get too close to their cubs. Any mammal that won’t protect its offspring is a biological dead end.

Imagine if this happened in Israel, or Russia. The Spetsnaz or the Sayeret Matkal would already be lining up headshots on the bad guys. Instead, Goodluck Jonathan seems to be keeping his dead down. Foreign leaders appear to care more about Nigerian girls than the President of Nigeria does.

Let’s see. Take a story about the violent aspects of a system of belief which cuts across ethnic lines and use it as a springboard for an insipid racist remark. You are either an idiot or an agent provocateur. Either way, I hope someone wakes the Wombat.

But guys, don’t you see? The problem is not that these girls were kidnapped, forcefully married off, and raped by men. The real problem is that Lena Dunham is not a lesbian and that a woman can’t even exercise without being ogled by men (we’ll just conveniently ignore the fact that all women’s workout clothing is geared towards making sure your breasts and ass are prominently featured – on a side note, I hate women’s workout clothing with a burning passion, particularly the pants/shorts which are, let’s be honest, tights). The real problem is the misogyny of Western men who have the unmitigated gall to ask women out on dates (the horror!) and open doors for women (eeeeek!) and worst of all have opinions about anything having to do with uteri (perish the thought!).

An illustration of what those poor women have to go through in civilized society because of men at 1:15.
