LIVE Video: Scott Brown HQ; UPDATE: BROWN WINS! BROWN WINS!

We are here at the posh Park Plaza hotel in downtown Boston and — thanks to our friends with 73 Wire — we’re livestreaming via Internet:

Free TV : Ustream

UPDATE 11:30 p.m.: (Smitty) Stacy just called me again, basking in the glow, and offered shouts out to:

  • Doug Hoffman in NY-23.  Stacy points out that Doug’s heroic, if Arthurian campaign, foiled by Dede le Fey at the last, helped pave the way for a different grail.  Doug got it in peoples’ minds that it wasn’t over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor the Left got the super-majority in the Senate.
  • The Tea Party movement (which is basically anyone who’s ever done so much as honk a horn while driving by a protest).
  • Michelle Malkin
  • Nathan Cossey
  • Barbara Espinoza
  • Dan Collins, whose book arrived today.  I skimmed the first ~20 pages while at Hard Times for a salad.  Great stuff.  Give dead tree offerings to the blog gawdz.
  • Da Tech Guy, who should no doubt write a book about tech guys getting dragged into political scenes, before I do.

UPDATE 10:06 p.m.: (Smitty) Stacy updates us via cel phone: Stacy McCain is out on the balcony at the HQ. 11+ network satellite trucks are visible in the street. When the Coakley concession was announced, the crowed chanted: “Kerry next!” Every Mass. Republican is in the building, enjoying the Martha Gras. This makes up for the heartbreaking NY-23 loss. WIFI is as functional in the building as this blog has been at various points the last couple of days. In other words, it’s broken. Ali Akbar of 73wire is a dead man, as he was supposed to have made the network arrangements. (The question is whether Smitty can make good his escape while Ali becomes acquainted with the underside of the bus.) RSM: “If Scott Brown can win this, anything is possible.” Ace of Spades is on scene, and has given Stacy vanilla pudding. AoS: “I’ve really got to have a cigarette” Other right-blogospheric all-stars present:

One other aside, as noted by Athens Runaway:

Coakley has hired Al Franken’s old fraud campaign lawyer, Mark Elias. Elias was hired by Franken, and Franken’s recount mysteriously found ballots in the back of cars, and other random places… after the election was well over.

We should always pray for a margin significant enough to minimize shenanigans. UPDATE 7:55 p.m.: Five minutes before polls close, I’ve just talked to a spokesman for the Brown campaign — it looks good. Clearly, they feel like they’ve got a winner here. Also, Ace of Spades is in the house. UPDATE: Ayla Brown, Rule 5, video with a certain well-known blogger.

  1. Two hours ago at 7:21PM in the West; Brown was declared the Winner by me, I’ve got the touch, had been making calls to Mass. for last 2 days and the original tea party state was out to show the “King” again they did not like the
representation. This was a message to DC to clean up their act an listen to “We the People.”

  3. They say your testosterone increases when your candidate wins…a lot of Dems will need testosterone therapy tomorrow.

  5. Norah is shocked that Brown is still working the room at midnight. She speculates…perhaps…hard work might have played a roll.

  7. Ahhh yes! I can smell the over-reach from the Right wingnuts already…
Hey, I guess this makes up for the embarrassment that was Doug Hoffman.
On the other hand, it is kind of neat that this happened this soon. Will incumbent Dems run complacent campaigns ala Coakley? Not likely.
Will Cons try to spin this as a referendum on HealthCare and the Obama agenda? Of course! And that is where we will find our opening.
Enjoy your moderate “teabagger”. Hey, any takers when he offered up his daughters for the taking?

  9. Haha!
This sounds nothing like when Obama REALLY gave it to you.
In the end, Obama is still President. Dems still the majority.
Could it be you that sounds a little…over-excited? Like a little girl at a Jonas Bro. concert?
Enjoy it while you can. In the real world, you gain nothing…

  11. In response to 4eyes. If this is no big deal why are you even commenting on it? This is a victory for liberty. You need to really look at what is in the healthcare bill and the climate change bill. Stop being a little cheerleader and actually think about what the legislation that will be voted on actually contains. The healthcare bill is simply a mandate to buy health insurance – lookup what DENNIS KUCINICH has to say about the Senate’s healthcare bill. Your blind following of your idols will lead to an extreme weakening of all of our buying power – yours included. Just remember this – if they raise the taxes on the evil Coca-Cola corporation then you will be paying more for a Coke.

A conservative ascendancy is anything but, NOTHING. Keep your glasses on for The Boston Tea Party 2- The Post Modern Sequel. It’s playing all year.

Thanks for bringing home a winner! Now we can use the word historical properly. (For substance over style…or skin color)

  17. Great Scott!…

One year after Barack Obama’s inauguration, his presidency has suffered a mortal blow from which it may never recover. On January 19, 2010, Scott Brown became the first Republican elected to the U.S. Senate from Massachusetts since Edward Brooke in 1….

  18. Miss Sharon is somehow convinced that this Special Election constitutes a “conservative ascendancy”. An asinine conclusion considering the real world conditions that contributed to Coakley’s loss, that being that she ran a terrible campaign.Obviously, Miss Sharon would really really like to believe that this is a sign of things to come, a “post-modern” sequel no less! LOL! Good to see that Conservative delusions are still there to bite them in the ass in the near future. He is up for re-election this November, no?
In any case, Miss Sharon’s delusions are further confirmed by her insistence, or rather, confusion, over the idea of “historical”. It’s funny to see Cons on one hand repudiate Obama’s historical victory while simultaneously trying to co-opt the sentiment. The funny thing is that Obama’s victory was that, historical in the sense that it had never happened before, compared to Brown who, what–is the first Republican Senator of Mass. in a long time? Wow…way to break ground there guys…
Listen, after the buzz fades, you will still wake up in a country who’s President is Obama and a House still dominated by the Dems.
    Sobering, ain’t it…..
