Over the course of the past two years, for the benefit of some 3.8 million visitors, we have blogged on many subjects — the 2008 presidential election, war, peace, economics, race relations, culture, etc. Never, however, has any post generated as many comments as my April 24 post about the talent-deficient vocalist, Champagne Dream, of whom I wrote:
Certainly I’m not alone in guessing that somebody at Blaze Records got the hots for a 19-year-old stripper and said, “Yeah, baby, I’ll make you a star . . .”
That post is now at 128 comments. It seems to have got rolling at 2:36 a.m. Friday, with Sandy’s comment (#28) and then on Saturday morning, blues musician Jeff Todd jumped in to say that the proprietor of Blaze Records was a sleazeball. (Which makes him different from every other record company executive . . . how?) Then somebody mentioned a singer named Cheyenne West and next thing you know, there’s a catfight in the comments involving none other than Champagne Dream herself, who appears at comment #60. Oh, and somebody posted this photo of Champagne Dream:
For the record, I cannot vouch for the accuracy of any of what people write in the comments. It may be that the proprietors of Blaze Records are perfectly legitimate and ethical. And it may be that Champagne Dream can sing.
So now I’ve got the blogospheric equivalent of a “Jerry Springer Show” episode in the comments of a two-week-old post that I just put up as a bit of weekend snark. But I guess it goes to show the unpredictable nature of online viral phenomena. Speaking of which, I just remembered an anniversary. Heh.

Wow. Scanning over the lengthy string of comments on the other post, I am instantly struck by the difference from what one usually sees here. Specifically, the usual commenters here (yes, even the Liberals) seem to be fairly literate and able to string a few words together to make something resembling a coherent thought – not so for the last 100 comments in the other thread. Apparently I’m spoiled. I’ve forgotten what the other 99% of the internet sounds like outside of the political blogs. 🙂

This all started when the Jeff Todd Blues Band walked away from Blaze Records 26 City National Tour; why, because it was all lie’s, there never was a tour, and it has grown to monstor mud slinging from all sides. And it looks like a few more artist now have left Blaze Records are now voicing what Blaze Did or almost did to them, um let’s just see where it ends up, who’s on top of what girl? BR

JT would love the chance as well as Miss Cheyenne West and at least five other artist to sit in front of a judge or jury and tell the whole story, this blog is not the only one,there are at least five others that are blasting Blaze Records, not to bring up the two more Artist who left Blaze in the last 24hr’s, and Blaze will not take them off the pages or rosters, they have to force My Space to do it, My Space has taken down over 40 fake pages this year along made by Blaze Records, somewhere in all this is some major crimes being commited, but unless it is happening to you… you just think it’s funny, jt
