Do Liberals Really Care About The ‘Human Condition’?

Jay Nordlinger over at the Corner offers this:

I’m grateful to both Walter Cronkite and Barbara Walters for something: They admitted, yes, the media are liberal, and a good thing, too. It has to be that way, they said. For — and this is Walters talking — journalism involves the “human condition,” and liberals care about the human condition. Unlike conservatives, who of course couldn’t give a rat’s a** about the human condition.

Beyond all of the whinging and finger pointing at conservatives, I’m stymied to come up with any evidence of such. How is it, exactly, that you ‘care about the human condition’, when you create bloated bureaucracies, disintegrating social services, and an unimaginable debt?

Seriously. Intent, while not counting for nothing, has to answer to results. If the theory fails to produce desirable results, then intellectual honesty dictates that the theory, not the results, go under the bus. The theoretical basis for the US Government hasn’t failed. Rather, the Progressive ‘Human Condition’ nonsense of the last century has proven a complete stinker.

I can think of a two-word phrase to offer these liberals, the second of which is “you“.

Of course, liberals care. And they’re going to prove they care by spending money we don’t have, to pay for programs we can’t afford. They’re going to impose taxes on children not yet born, but that’s no problem to them, because we know how much they care about children not yet born, right?

You want proof? Liberals love the human condition so much that they were willing to ask the lady in the north to cover up for Al Gore in order to protect the whole planet!

What can be more proof of caring for the human condition than that?

When do they care about the human condition? Before or after the gulag?

‘..under the bus…’ The last couple of years remind me of the old sight gag where somebody is juggling something, or trying to catch something, and they lose their balance. The audience knows they are going to fall, and a huge amount of crash bang will occur, the only questions are: how long they can keep running forward before falling on their face, and what (our economy) will make the huge crashing sound?

    RSM;

EVERYONE KNOWS THAT ALL WE NEED TO DO TO IMPROVE THE HUMAN CONDITION IS RAISE TAXES, MAKE GOVERNMENT BIGGER AND INCREASE THE REGULATORY BURDEN ON BUSINESS.

IT WORKED IN THE USSR AND IT’S WORKING GREAT IN CUBA AND ZIMBABWE AND NORTH KOREA AND VENEZUELA.

IF YOU OPPOSE HIGHER TAXES AND BIGGER GOVERNMENT AND LARGER DEFICITS THEN YOU’RE A RACIST!

If they care so much about the “human condition” why are they not protecting our borders more? The human smuggling that goes on from Mexico into our country is appalling, dehumanizing, and is many cases is murderous. Once they can answer that question, I will be more willing to listen to the left telling me that care more about the human condition than I do.

“liberals care about the human condition…conservatives…couldn’t give a rat’s a** about the human condition.”

We keep hearing this, in various forms, yet never are we offered any evidence that the solutions offered by liberals to improve the human condition actually work. If you’re a liberal, good intentions are the only thing that matters. The end result? Well, certainly it would be NICE if their solutions actually WORKED, but it’s not essential.

Good intentions are all the paving they require – the destination is an afterthought.

Ask them if they’re planning a phased withdrawal from the quagmire that is the War on Poverty, begun way back in the Johnson administration, which they haven’t a hope in hell of winning.

The Left cares about groups of people more than they do about individual people, about ideas more than reality.

The whole history of Leftist thinking is a rejection of the truth that A=A in favor of some amorphous feeling they call ‘the greater good’.

The whole history of Leftism put into practice is the story of death and destruction and misery.

CGHill: the most potent weapon on the War on Poverty is capitalism. The problem is that liberals keep redefining “poverty” so now that anyone who can’t afford premium cable, meals out, and a Blackberry is considered “poor”.

DaTechGuy: they also ruined that other lady from the North in order to ensure that we can have a leader who will heal the planet… and the life of a young intern so that abortion could be kept legal… and it goes on.

I care, but I am the last conservative out there.

And look at these slanders from Hot Air. Of course what Breitbart does is different than what I do.

I am on a misson from God. A gay and somewhat contradictory mission, but a mission never the less.

Liberals have a very useful place in society–providing a conscience, identifying problems, providing the hosanna chorus, etc., etc. They just should never, ever, EVER be allowed to gain actual political power, because they are totally, 100% driven by emotion, not by rationality. This is also why all of their policies and programs a) never work and b) have unintended consequences that harm the very people they’re intended to help.

they say liberals are for free thought and conservatives hate change[unless it is the right change] hey if lberals were for free thought they would not be calling palin treasonous for criticizing obama abroad while they did the same thing during bush’s last years in office
