I’m ‘Sick to My Stomach’ of Pete Sessions Running the NRCC into the Ground
Posted on | August 24, 2010 | 11 Comments
National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions is trying to referee an increasingly bitter Florida 24th District primary, criticizing a new mailer from Florida Republican Craig Miller questioning rival Karen Diebel’s mental fitness as out of bounds.
Dan Riehl’s had the facts on this situation for weeks. It’s not that she’s a bad person but, as I said two months, she seems to be suffering from emotional stress since her husband died in a tragic accident.
It has been clear since last October — when Pete Sessions tried to dodge the blame for the Scozzafava debacle — that the NRCC was suffering from a severe deficit of competent leadership.
FL-24 is a three-way primary and Diebel, allegedly the beneficiary of establishment favoritism, is the weakest candidate in the race. This mess could have been prevented, the fact that it wasn’t prevented is yet further evidence of Pete Sessions’ mismanagement at NRCC.
If the GOP fails to win a House majority Nov. 2, you know who to blame.

I wish the parties would stay out of primaries all together. Let the voters decide.

When the NRCC calls, they get an ear full from me, but no money.
When they backed Charlie Crist (when he was still a republican) as soon as he declared his candidacy for US Senate in FL, I decided to send money directly to the candidates and their campaigns from now on.

we forget that when it comes to liberals and establishment republicans “failure” is a resume enhancement.

I just called the NRCC and snarked at them about Dede Scozzafava and Jeff Sessions’ lack of leadership. Told them they should keep their noses out of local primaries. The guy I talked listened politely – don’t expect my call to have any effect (unless a bunch of others call too).

My mistake on which organization backed Crist. I meant the NRSC. But I don’t give to any of them because they should stay out of the primaries.
