Harry Reid to Gays: ‘I Really Want Your Votes. But First You Will Blow Me.’

Posted on | September 21, 2010 | 50 Comments

Or words to that effect, as the imperiled Senate Majority Leader — who’s losing ground to Sharron Angle in Nevada — was one of three Democrats to vote against repealing the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”  policy:

All Senate Republicans and three Democrats voted to block debate on the bill after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he would attach several leadership priorities, including an immigration-related provision, to the defense bill. Reid also attempted to limit the amendments offered by the GOP.
Reid was one of the three Democrats — the other two were Arkansas Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor — who voted to block debate. Reid’s vote allows him to bring up the bill at a later time.

Isn’t that special? It would have taken 60 votes to pass the repeal, and Harry could only get 59, so he told Blanche Lincoln — who is trailing by 25 points in her own re-election bid — that she could have a free vote to try to appeal to backward hillbilly yokels independent swing voters back home in Arkansas.

And this “allows him to bring up the bill at a later time.”

Feel the love, gay Democrats.

Honestly, wouldn’t you be better off voting Republican? What’s not to like about lower taxes and a foreign policy that’s all about kicking terrorist ass?

Sure, Republicans don’t support your pet issues, but at least they’re honest about it. Whereas, with Democrats, you’re like the slutty cheerleader who puts out to all the guys on the football team: The Democrats always get what they want from you — your votes and money — but they’re never gonna take you to the prom.

Maybe “at a later time,” huh?

HELP DEFEAT DIRTY HARRY REID!

And that is it in a nutshell! Apart from core conservative values we share, one can only have an honest discussion with an honest opponent. I’d much rather not be invited to the prom than have my drunken pictures show up on Facebook the next day, to possibly stretch your metaphor to the breaking point.

In fairness to Reid he was obligated to vote against it or the Bill was dead. As I undestand Senate rules, they can only reconsider it now if someone who voted against cloture brings it back.

I’m surprised Lincoln didn’t vote for cloture since she’s a dead Senator walking.

Blanche is angling to go out in style with the biggest loss of an incumbent Senator in history.

Reid is an idiot. Sure, he “had” to vote against in order to move to reconsider, but the situation isn’t going to be any better for that bill in the lame duck session. He might as well have voted for it to attempt to please some liberals and gays in Nevada, and maybe keep his seat.

The majority of voters – even intelligent voters fairly well informed politically – aren’t into the “inside baseball” esoterica of Senate rules. And Democratic voters aren’t particularly well informed – else why would they be “Democratic voters”?

Hey, at least we know when Reid talks about the “hottest member” it wasn’t about Scott Brown

    Two notes:
1- I’ll bet there were some relieved Congresscritters in that room when the vote count revealed that cloture would fail: there’s a bunch of those clowns who’d just hate to have to go home and admit that it was their vote that put this mess of a bill over the top.

2- Now that Reid is looking vulnerable, his ability to punish or reward is fading fast. Other Dem Senators who’d normally be kept in line by the power of his office are beginning to wonder if he’s going to even be in washington next year- and they’re certain he won’t be swinging the gavel in the SenaTE.

Has President Obama declared that he’s for gay marriage yet?

Or does he still get a pass for being a homophobic bigot?

Maybe he just gets to vote “present” on this one. What leadership!

You know, he could have cemented the Jewish vote, made inroads in the Christian Conservative vote and held on to the gay vote by just saying:

“We should do what the Israeli Army does on the matter.”

Thank the maker he is too stupid. Now if we had some smarter boys and girls on the right….

Well seeing as your side thinks that “all faggots must die”, wouldn’t it be self defeating for gays to vote Republican?

Oh Randy, can you feel any dumber after the latest Saxy Chambliss situation?
Besides, how often have we seen rabid anti-gay Republicans eventually come out of the closet or get out-ed in a public bathroom?
This is your chance Randy. It’s OK. We understand and it would explain a whole lot….

Well, y4e, Reid used gays as a political pawn without a thought towards their feelings. To him, they’re cannon fodder (an ironic metaphor, is it not?) in a blatant and useless political maneuver, and beneath contempt to him.

That aide of Chambliss is indeed disgusting. But Reid is consistently disgusting, on all levels, a political whore who will do anything for gain. The only real difference to lefties like you is that Reid is your kind of whore.

JeffS, settle down retard.I can hardly keep up with your gibberish.
So, Reid used gays? Yeah, I guess you and your walnut sized intellect couldn’t see it any other way. As stated in a post above and on other surprisingly more forth coming righty sites, Reid’s no-vote was procedural. So that he can bring the bill back for further consideration.Duh!
Listen I realize you’re easy pickins’ for Stacy’s gay-bashing homophobic ways, but maybe it’s behoove you to think for yourself once in a while, lest you find yourself tea-bagging more than a pir of rhetorical testes..

Chambliss’s aide will be fired and probably never work in politics for a Republican again.

If he had been- just for example- a district organizer for President Obama’s campaign who paraded around with posters comparing Sarah Palin to Hitler… Or a union thug who assaulted a black man and used racial slurs on him… well, y4e- what would happen then?

Ok, What I am still not clear about here is which dem is against the repeal? They have Snowe, so if this went up as an up and down vote it should pass if they have all the dems.

It seems to me that they are playing some sort of game that allows them to say it is the republicans that blocked it, but again the math doesn’t add up for that story to hold to anyone that actually pays attention.

Why add this to a bill about financing the troops? I can’t stand it when they politize the troops. Either give them what they need or bring them home.

Oh, Stacy, too bad you didn’t combine this post with your Jesse Jackson post; the vast majority of blacks are outright homophobes. (California’s Prop 8 failed because about 3/4th of black voters were against gay marriage.)

That said, at least people on the right have an excuse for their actions: Christianity. With lefties, it’s just hatred.
