Writing “as a proud former union member and the wife, daughter, and sister of union members,” Sarah Palin denounces the “thuggery” of Jim Hoffa:
Union bosses like this do not have your best interests at heart. What they care about is their own power and re-electing their friend Barack Obama so he will take care of them to the detriment of everyone else. . . .
Recently someone commented: “I’m a union member. I’ve been a Democrat all my life. Now I’ll vote for anyone with a plan to save America.” I know what that person is feeling. I want all good union brothers and sisters to know that there is an alternative. The grassroots, independent Tea Party Movement articulates a real alternative rooted in free men and free markets, not the cronyism of Barack Obama and the permanent political class in DC. Their cronyism is why we have no job growth, massive unsustainable debt, and a housing market in the tank. Too many politicians are simply addressing the economic symptoms instead of fighting the underlying disease. The path forward is through reform. . . .
In the meantime, good union brothers and sisters, don’t let Hoffa tell you what to do. He doesn’t represent the real interests of working men and women. He’s not doing you any favors. He’s just living off your paychecks.
Great piece by Sarah-only fanatically sycophantic Kommander Kobe followers could read that and find fault.
Good for her, go after the very same Reagan democrats that made it a landslide in 80 and 84.
I love Cain Stacy but Sarah is the real deal. She will suck every bit of oxygen out of the room when she announces. Her vs President Motown will be every bit the final confrontation between good and evil.
MM
Isn’t it rich that first it was, Sarah Palin’s employer, Fox dishonestly edited Hoffa on his “let’s take these son of a bitches out,” remark and now she, who used extreme metaphors like “crosshairs” and “reload” in the past in similar electoral context, denounces Hoffa for those same remarks? Simply amazing.
It was a Labor Day Weekend Union Triumphalism Trifecta…
Conventional (as in MSM) wisdom paints Sarah Palin as a nutjob extremist. But I gotta say, she sounds pretty reasonable to me. Certainly more reasonable than the unionistas who shared a stage with President Zero. You’d think Barry would have the guts …
You’re delusional
Conservatives can fanatsize all they want about “union thuggery” in Hoffa’s remarks, but an example of a real thug and an insecure bully here is the not-so-sly Sarah in her latest facebook column.
[…] Sarah Palin Shows Her Union Card […]
What’s wrong Anamika, did you forget to change your name for this reply? Who was you trying to reply as this time, gg? Or was it one of your other sock puppets who “agree” with you?
If I were truly delusional, I’d have exactly the same view about you.
One can say that what you have been conveying and the manner in which you convey are indications that you are a manifesting a delusional state.
I can also point to the predictability of your non-response to any reasonable and evidential challenge to release you from delusion, thus reinforcing the case for delusion.
I do not imagine you are delusional or not so. I am interested in how you respond to this.
What do you say?
If she doesn’t talk to herself, no one will.
When she was little her kids used to tie meat to her face to make the dog kiss her.
“a real thug and an insecure bully here is the not-so-sly Sarah in her latest facebook column.”
A private citizens voicing her views vs. the head of the Teamsters union: you’re delusional.
Don’t you all think its high time we all get on board the Sarah Palin bus?
What’s very interesting is that Palin knows firsthand about unions because she was actually a union member at one time. So she’s not denouncing all unions, just the kind that are looking out for themselves and not the people they represent. O is very comfortable with the Trumpka/Hoffa types because he’s one of them. After all, he honed his skills as a thug a long time ago as a community organizer.
The Right needs to articulate over and over and again this message: it’s the PUBLIC employee unions we have issue with. Like FDR did – for its corrupting influence on government. If you think you can earn a better life through collective bargaining in the private sector today – go for it. You’re misguided, but go for it.
d(^_^)bhttp://libertyatstake.blogspot.com/“Because the Only Good Progressive is a Failed Progressive”
“Hoffa riled up Fox News and the right wing Monday with a Labor Day speech in Detroit in which he called Republican members of Congress “sons of bitches” and said union workers are ready to “go to war” with the tea party next year and “take out” Republicans at the ballot box.
Hoffa said he’d say the exact same words all over again.
“I would because I believe it,” he said. “They’ve declared war on us.
We didn’t declare war on them, they declared war on us. We’re fighting
back. The question is, who started the war?””

Heh heh!
More courage here – on Facebook – than coming from Obama and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. What an embarrassing performance by the DNC spokesweasel.
Go, Sarah!
Right on cue from your masters at Media Matters, you parrot their spin. Well done drone.
In fact what Hoffa said WAS NOT edited.
And of course when your union thug idols say, “let’s take these sons of bitches out…” he really means for lunch, right.
HAHAHAHAWHATADUPEHAHAHAHA
Congratulations, you’re as smart as my shampoo.
Once again, Palin nails it.
And I think a certain troll on this site is not really a person. It’s one of those Obama “Fake People by Committee” cooked up with Facebook and Obama’s other wealthy leftist donors. What individual has the time and obsessive attentiveness needed for the unending defense the vicious comments we keep seeing here?
So, according to our Marxist non-friends, calling on someone to denounce rabble-rousers who call for violence is worse than the moral crime that prompted it.
This comes from the dangerous fools who lectured us on rhetoric.
Where’s Obama? MIA on this one. I guess it’s not considered violent rhetoric if it’s directed against ordinary Americans who can’t line his pockets.
I’m on the Sarah Palin bus. But I’m also taking turns on the Perry and Cain busses, respectively.
Eventually, I’ll have to pick one bus in particular, unless two of the busses break down on their own.
Worst case scenario: the Palin, Perry, and Cain busses ALL break down. Then, I’ll be riding in the back of the short bus – aka Romneymobile.
That would be a gross libel on shampoos everywhere….
You imply that Palin mayn’t have the balls to suggest the same if she becomes the GOP nominee (ie no longer just a political/media/public celebrity/figure) ; either way it’s a lose-lose situation for you.
I guess we’ll have no choice. ABO!
Tsk tsk, Anamika, tsk tsk!
Changing the subject is not an honest means of debate. Doing so through Tu quoque makes it a flat out lie.
Tsk tsk, Anamika, tsk tsk!
“You imply that Palin”
I stated the facts of the power of the two at the present time.
The head of the Teamsters Union who has a track record of advocating and excusing violence. In a previous job he was in a position where he could have shut down violent strikers but instead encouraged them. These are facts, not opinions.
http://michellemalkin.com/2010/09/03/big-labors-legacy-of-violence/
Anamika is too incoherent to be a drone. Rather, she just hungers for attention. If she posts comments at Kos, DU, etc., she’d be ignored because she’d say the same things as 1,000 other commenters, many of whom have far more talent for putting lipstick on the pig than Anamika does.
I’m pretty sure it’s an unemployed foreigner.
Biden called Republicans ‘Barbarians,” Anamika. Was that “dishonestly edited,” too?
You’ve never answered my question – but let’s try again – what’s “barbaric” about saying you can’t spend more than you have? WHEN did that become reason to threaten to “take the sons of bitches out”?
When exactly did DEMOCRATS become so irresponsible?
And, why can’t that lying spokesweasel for the democratic party at least mouth some of the same rhetoric condemning Hoffa that she used re: Arizona? What a pathetic performance. Have you seen it? trying to play the Clinton game of just repeating the talking points. “What the American people want…” What a dodge.
Tell us, Anamika – if Gabrielle Giffords had been a Republican, what would you have been saying? Now we know. Zip. ZERO. Nada. You’ve lost the right to be taken seriously, you and yours.
Hoffa didn’t call for voilence. Stop lying. He used the words “take ’em out” at the ballot box –read his full remarks, not just that single sentence taken out of context — which is a lesser violent political metaphor than “crosshairs” and “reload!” used by the shameless hypocrite for whom you salivate.
Whatever the merits of those accusations/facts, it doesn’t change a thing about the facts about his current remarks.
Anamika, I watched Hoffa’s comments live, on Fox. Repeat-LIVE. That means I listened to them at the exact same instant in time Hoffa was speaking them. Give it up girl, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. Hoffa is just another union goon, the same as his daddy. The fact that he was engaging in this trash talk in the same city from which his mobbed up daddy disappeared speaks volumes as to his lack of integrity. Of course, I guess that might have been Bush’s fault.
Apparently you didn’t read it.
And see that the AFL-CIO in AK stood up and applauded Palin for her fighting of corruption two days before McCain called her.
After she joined McCain, the AFL-CIO turned on her like rabid dogs.
In two days.
1)My friend, it’s pretty standard stuff to use some level of metaphor in campaign/election rhetoric like; “targeted district”; winning a “horserace”; hit a “jackpot”; getting “butchered” at polls etc . Every now and then someone like Biden goes a step further and talks about stopping the “barbarians at the gate” or McConnells says he wants to take Obama out in 2012, and someone like Palin goes overboard and uses “crosshairs”a nd talks about “reloading.”
2)Palin was criticised for her ultra violent imagery and rhetoric long before the Arizona shooting happened.
Really?
I’m dismissing Sarah Palin (as an emodiment of what she professes), and not any of her legitimate criticism about political rhetoric. Hence there is no ad hominem/tu quoque fallacy.
We have issue with the private unions too, make no mistake about that. At least we have issue with the thugs and goons that control them, and with the politicians who benefit from them, which are far more often than not, Democrats, like Obama. It’s no accident that the National Labor Relations Board is in the process of imposing card-check, even though that proposed law was rejected by the US Congress. It’s also no coincidence that when O bailed out GM and Chrysler, the UAW ended up being a majority stakeholder in the company. Unions are bad news, public or private.
Why do you folks keep feeding this troll?
http://thecampofthesaints.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/troll-doll-flower-01.jpg
Ok guys, who farted. Would somebody please open the window, so it can air out in here.
Hoffa’s father was taken out. Now the son put out a contract in the same language. And an anonymous troll is here to attack Sarah’s statement that Stacy highlights, and to keep on the attack. Very serious business.
For me, this sentence by Sarah may be at the heart of it: “”If one desires opportunity for all, then the only solution is sudden and relentless reform.”
As a retired ATU member I attest that my local was heavy with people who understood Sarah’s final words and lived accordingly: “[Hoffa’s] not doing you any favors. He’s just living off your paychecks.”
The goal is removing the automatic payroll deduction of union dues, just as some states have done. That “sudden and relentless reform” aroused Hoffa and allies from their beds and bars.
A quick theory on troll feeding: on any given day, the same guy who repeatedly urged against feeding the troll(s), will get in a weird mood and impulsively respond to the troll. It only takes 3-4 regular posters at any given time, randomly rotated, to keep a troll satiated enough to keep coming back for more.
I like it.
I have had my problems with Wombat from time to time, or perhaps the other way around. Mainly over the unevenesses of moderation and favouritism. One can kick you but if you kick him you are moderated routine. While I have seen that (esp in my own case), I do not see it as generally true. But it is a hazard, and one which Stacy has not addressed in his meagre remarks about his moderation ‘style and methods.’
To leave such a ‘landmine of ambiguity’ laying around in his blog, is one sure way of indirectly cautioning the ‘members’ that the limits are ‘arbitrary and capricious’, eg, unpredictable.
I am very glad that Stacy has enlisted Smitty and Wombat as co-moderators, as it seems that he cannot put his attention there, and thus does not have the means of ‘moderating’ unhealthy trends… such as the periodic onslaught of trolls and esp the GG troll.
I must say though, that the ‘troll’ can only be as successful as it is, due to the reader’s unwise habit of ‘feeding’ the troll. But on the other hand, the business of the troll is to beg for feeding, and to get it. Once the ‘toehold’ has been attained, the troll is difficult to dislodge, like the common bloodsucking tick-insect. (Hey… sub ‘trollhold’ for ‘toehold’… cool!)
Anyway, I give much credit to Wombat for EVENTUALLY making the sort of course-corrections which do in fact, represent rational ‘moderation’. It is the significant lag in time, which seems to be the chronic issue there.
If I understand the history right, and I’m by no means certain that I do completely, the elder Hoffa had realized it was the more unsavory elements in the Teamsters that was the cause of his downfall and told one of those individuals that, to his face. That same individual was one of the two men most suspected of his disappearance. It might well have been that the wiseguys and other corrupt union leaders, and politicians, might have feared Jimmy Sr. would put a stop to the gravy train. The constant “borrowing” from union retirement funds for “investment” purposes, the political payoffs, etc. Its all the more ironic that Hoffa Jr. seems all the more determined to strengthen and uphold the same corrupt system his father might very well have died intending to reform.
Tsk tsk, Anamika, tsk tsk!
You offer an appalling analysis:
“Tu quoque (pronounced /tu??kwo?kwi?/), or the appeal to hypocrisy, is a kind of logical fallacy. It is a Latin term for “you, too” or “you, also”. A tu quoque argument attempts to discredit the opponent’s position by asserting his failure to act consistently in accordance with that position; it attempts to show that a criticism or objection applies equally to the person making it. This dismisses someone’s point of view on an issue on the argument that the person is inconsistent in that very thing. It is considered an ad hominem argument, since it focuses on the party itself, rather than its positions”
Your comment, a classic example of an “You, too!” argument.:
“Isn’t it rich that first it was, Sarah Palin’s employer, Fox dishonestly edited Hoffa on his “let’s take these son of a bitches out,” remark and now she, who used extreme metaphors like “crosshairs” and “reload” in the past in similar electoral context, denounces Hoffa for those same remarks? Simply amazing. ”
Tsk tsk, Anamika, tsk tsk!
Tsk tsk, Anamika, tsk tsk!
You are not encouraging “civil” discourse, as is the desire of President Obama, let alone “honest”.
Tsk tsk, Anamika, tsk tsk!
Tsk tsk, Anamika, tsk tsk!
We have no evidence to the contrary, hence it’s a reasonable assumption. Certainly you do not encourage a positive view towards yourself, with all that hate, contempt, and loathing that you display here on Stacy’s blog.
As a step towards disproving this assumption, you could hit Stacy’s tip jar, and at least pay for the bandwidth that you use.
Tsk tsk, Anamika, tsk tsk!
Anamika is worried about trolls.
Prolly NSFW clip from Scanners.
In your link to ‘tu quoque’, I direct you to the “legitimate use” section. As i said, i’m dismissing Sarah alone for her hypocrisy, not any of her valid criticism about political rhetoric.
You make a good point, re: thuggery and corruption propagated by the bosses within private unions. But that (should) can be reduced to a law enforcement problem if we focus our attention on breaking down the unholy socialist trinity of organized public employees, the politicians who are nominally their bosses, and the citizens that are screwed in the deal. This is the difference that makes the rank and file in the public employee unions part of the problem much more so than anyone in a private sector union (what’s left of them anyway). Private sector unions are diminishing in numbers precisely because the modern free market is making them uneconomical to prospective rank and file. Public sector unions represent a growing share of the goonion pie because their very relationship to politicians ensures corruption – by design. If you are looking for effective tactical thinking on where to focus your political energy … see my first post.
