If It Weren’t Public School Doing It …

Posted on | October 23, 2011 | 57 Comments

. . . what would you think about someone who wanted to talk to your 11-year-old about masturbation, anal sex, “doggie style” and how to perform oral sex if you’ve got braces? Welcome to New York City in 2012:

New York City 11-year-olds will soon be learning sex education from workbooks that include instruction on “mutual masturbation, French kissing, oral and anal sex, and “intercourse using a condom and an oil-based lubricant.”
The shocking revelations were uncovered in “recommended” workbooks reviewed by The New York Post. . . .
One of the preferred resources for students is Columbia University’s website, “Go Ask Alice,” the Post reported. That site includes discussions on topics ranging from “doggie-style,” oral sex with braces, fetishes, and “sadomasochistic sex play.”

The New York Post reports:

Starting in the spring, the DOE will require one semester of sex ed in sixth or seventh grades and one in ninth or 10th.
It says schools can pick any curriculum but recommends the widely used HealthSmart and Reducing the Risk programs and trains teachers to use them.

Seriously, if any random stranger tried to talk to kids about stuff that schools teach in sex-ed classes, parents would be calling the cops. It’s just downright creepy to teach this kind of stuff to sixth-graders.

Where’s Chris Hansen when we really need him?

This is just good education.  Which I promoted while with the Obama Adminstration.  You teabaggers need to loosen up.

I think filing a criminal complaint would be the correct response. Just because the school system approves of the curriculum doesn’t mean it doesn’t violate the law. If somebody texts something this graphic to a minor it would be a criminal act. A parent needs to attempt to file a criminal complaint and then sue when charges aren’t filed.

I am an excellent counselor for troubled teens.  Like  time I recommended a 16 year old boy (or maybe 15 year old) pick up strange men in public bus stop restrooms.  What could go wrong?

When I was 11, I had essentially very little interest in sex.  This is getting in to the overly graphic territory.

Still, I think images of what happens when you contract a STD are scary enough to dissuade that sort of behavior.

    Seriously? And 11? Seriously?

I understand why they – wait, no, let me rephrase that. I understand the  *argument* for teaching kids some biological basics as part of a practical anatomical curriculum. But is there any age where teaching “mutual masturbation” or sexual positions is appropriate for public school?

I mean that literally. “Appropriate,” as in “having any educational value at all.”

True dat.  If they teach sex ed like they teach everything else, the kids are much better off learning this stuff on the playgrounds or street corners.

Liberals believe in choice. Unless it comes to what to teach your kids, then, they’ll make the choice for you.

Also applies to abstinence, what you drive, which opinions can be publicly expressed, how to run your business, where to get energy (that would be “nowhere”), what you eat, etc, etc.

On second thought, liberals don’t believe in choice after all, do they?

Don’t bet on it.  These kids are about to enter the teenage years when they are completely bulletproof and bad things only happen to other people.  For example, how many kids in your school started smoking a couple years after they saw the graphic images of lungs full of tar and cancer?

“Seriously, if any random stranger tried to talk to kids about stuff that
schools teach in sex-ed classes, parents would be calling the cops.”

That’s a pretty low bar, don’t you think?   Random strangers talking to kids about free candy also gets attention.    Why make a weak argument here?   You don’t have anything stronger?

The boy scout age requirement is 11 and they have a merit badge where you learn about masterbation.   If I remember correctly it was the personal fitness merit badge, but I could be wrong.

Which if some random stranger were to try to talk to my kid about I would be calling the police.

    Simple solution.
Procecute them for contributing to the delinquency of a minor for every child so educated who is under the statutory age of consent.

Same old same old.  Seems like there’s a story like this every few months, somewhere in the USA.  The only thing noteworthy about this one is the size of the school district and number of kids affected.

No one wants to deal with it, but it really is past time to reconsider the whole idea of public-provided schooling.  The original idea in New England was to assure children were educated to support their parents’ (Puritan) beliefs and be good citizens and honor God.  That concept eventually won out across the whole country in large part to turn immigants into Americans.  But when you look at the schools these days you have to wonder what is the current purpose?  Because transmission of sound values is certainly no longer part of its dominant ideology, which is more and more driven by PC propagandizing against what the parents believe.  Not everywhere, but that is the dominant approach in the Ed Schools and it is the trend.  Bill Ayers won the battle to control the Ed Schools.  They will deny it when the question is put, but look closely at their curricula, their projects, their research, and you’ll see.  Why must we pay so much for not just so little, but for things that are actually bad?

New York; where a child can get “educated” about fisting but an adult can’t have a cigarette.

Where the 2nd amendment is reviled and vilified but salt is not allowed.

Where a two-bit pipsqueak pusillanimous jumped up little napoleon bends rules to suit and changes parties like one changes their pants.

“…if some random stranger…” That’s just the point! In most schools systems teachers are not established and trusted members of the community any more than your average in-cognito registered sex offender. Like the sex offender, they like to pretend that they are, but many, if not most, are itinerants, moving from one position to the next, every few years.

I am in New York State, not the City, and this scares me because whatever crazy leftist idea flies in NYC soon spreads like the cancer it is to the rest of the state. See smoking bans and tax hikes for reference. If they implement this crap where my children go to school, I’ll raise an unholy hell and the children will be homeschooled.  I may end up homeschooling my 4 year old anyway, because he’s got some special needs and if he can’t be mainstreamed I do not trust the schools not to endanger him, because where I live, they mix the psychiatrically troubled and dangerous children with the ‘slow’ developmentally disabled children in the ‘special needs’ classes.

That’s all changed now, MT.  The gal that cuts my hair has a daughter who is twelve and she monitors the child’s Facebook page and those of her friends.  The mother cracked the code they used and found out that the girls rate the oral sex they give to the boys [which they don’t consider sex] and rate ‘experimenting’ with other girls.

The National Geographic magazine (where I caught my first glimpse of bare boobys 70 years ago) had a cover story on the teenage mind. One item was that teens are more motivated by promise fo reward than threat of consequences. Seems to confirm your contention. So how can we use that info?

TEACHER: “No No kids, don’t just throw the gasololine on the fire – you will get killed! You have to be a few feet away, throw the gas toward the fire, then run!”
KIDS: (In a sing song tone) “Thank you Mrs. Jones.”
