Via Michelle Malkin, here is the mighty Sarah Palin ad, which appears to have been uploaded on 22 November. I am sure that Ladd Ehlinger could have done something with a bit more zip to it. This appears to be a straight up the middle play. On the one hand, this egalitarian statement is what America in general, and Sarah Palin in particular, are all about: get the substance right, and understand that the anti-elitism is a style of its own.
That said, my newfound irritation with Romney’s diction helps me understand where some people are coming from about Sarah’s tone and accent. The fact that my mother (who lives in Idaho) could do passable voiceovers for Sarah (who is from Idaho) does mitigate a lot of the distraction for me, but this clip puts Sarah’s folksy cadences right out front.
I’d still love to see her on the ticket. Unsure with whom, though. Oh to be the fly on the wall when the GOP delegates look at the primary returns and realize that, no matter her conditions, they should have coaxed her into running.
Didn’t we just have this argument?
I can understand why people want her to run, heck I was one of them. But she’s made her decision not to run and IMHO people should respect that. If there’s a brokered convention, then maybe if she’s willing then, but the chances of that are so small as to be not worth even discussing as a hypothetical.
Howbout a “Sarah Palin please consider who you’re endorsing” video?
People keep claiming she’ll endorse Gingrich.
Good: Mentioning socialism. Bad: cliched flute with drum, like we’re all villagers or something in Lord of the Rings. Editing: Meh. Prognostication: Lots of hits. Won’t work. Will raise some money for the pac.
I think she’s going to hold the endorsement till the general. There are too many warts on all these candidates.
That would be the best strategy for her, for sure.
With my hairy feet, I do kind of resemble a hobbit. : )
DeMint from the inside, Palin on the outside. Keep their PACs running and usurp D.C. on the Left and Right.
I’d vote for Palin if given the chance but she’ll remain just a kingmaker for now which is perfectly suitable. Let her crown via PAC money and endorsements and keep with the long war that is the Tea Party insurgency. Remember this is only the second battle of an extended war and it needs to operate with long-term planning. Yes, we’re in crisis, but we’ve really been in crisis for many years.
It’s like killing weeds in your lawn. It takes a long time for them to take over and it takes just as long to be rid of them without killing the turf. And part of the battle is just getting passers-by to realize just how ugly the lawn. That’s where we are. D.C. is corrupt to the core and we have to be methodical but persistent in its cleansing. Even Palin as President cannot fix what ails us. We’ll need a bigger army before we can appreciate a general.
John McCain says we are all hobbits now.
The story ends with the Hobbits saving the world, moral in there somewhere.
Go Sarah!
“Sarah’s folksy cadences”
I’ll give YOU the benefit of the doubt but when most of the folk from the coasts say that, what they MEAN is redneck, hillbilly, ignorant, ill-informed, bigoted, backwards, opinionated, Christian, moral, judgmental, homophobic etc. (you get the picture).
For me, that’s HER BEST POINTS!
I’d rather have some rednecked nasal twanging God fearing American loving Christian up there than some solipsist sycophantic political elitist talking smoothly and convincingly about how he’s going to do this and do that. Especially when his past performance indicates otherwise.
I honestly had dismissed her long ago.
But that ad made me cry. I guess deep down she is my heroine.
Ace is opining that if Palin is who you want then go for it and write her in. Sometimes all one has left is one’s principals.
As someone that contributed to the ad from the beginning….the purpose of the ad wasn’t necessarily to get Sarah Palin to run…it was to start a national conversation about how dissatisfied we are with the current crop of candidates. And it has been dramatically successful at starting the conversation. It has been covered on almost every media outlet and had MUCH more success than the Earthquake Movement. Maybe it will get some other candidates to jump in. Maybe it will wake up the RNC and the establishment to the fact that even though 0bama is a wounded president….if they continue to push these “also rans” on us then we won’t just hold our noses and say….”okay GOP…we’ll vote for who you tell us to vote for again”. NO! Enough is enough! Stop marginalizing us! Stop trying to take advantage of us!
The line in the sand has been drawn. The conversation has been started. THEY need to come to US! Not the other way around!
To heck with them.

But the question is, will the hobbits donate to the PAC?
Running a progressive woman from the northwest would be a bold move. Probably want to pair her with a conservative male from the south, though.
I believe they will in any case the country is lost without them.
[…] See the article here: The 'Sarah Palin Reconsider' Clip : The Other McCain […]
Look: they’re folksy cadences.
I don’t mean it with the slightest condescension, but that is certainly what they are.
I’m totally writing Sarah in for the primary.
Oh, indeed. I posted the initial hint a couple days back, and here we are supporting it again.
Keep up the good work!
I’m not sure ‘progressive’ is a complement in this context.
It wasn’t intended as a compliment. Sarah Palin ran for mayor of Wasilla as a “progressive,” and has governed as a “progressive” at every opportunity. She’s only suddenly and unconvincingly became a “conservative” when selected as the 2008 GOP VP candidate.
Run, Sarah, run!
Burn the lawn. Plant new seed. Repeat as necessary.
Idiotic
Check the debt in the books of Wassilla, Alaska.
Now that’s problem solving!
Heh. Ya’ know, you might actually be on to something there.
I’d probably be with you providing the incendiaries but for the fear that we might end up torching the Constitution, too. I’m not quite there yet.
??
Building a community center is not a conservative or progressive act. It’s a local government act. the arena is exceeding its revenue projections, the bonds are being paid off on schedule and the residents are happy. Wasilla had absolutely nothing before she took the reins and they became a boom town with her at the helm with a ton more in tax revenues (as well as expenditures), creating a very solid bottom line.
Anarchists, not cons, are supposed to be the party of “don’t bother to build roads, we don’t want to pay any taxes.”
alwaysfiredup – I was under the impression that Wassilla was still $20mil in debt because of the community center. Am I incorrect in that assessment?
Also, a “community center” is not the same thing as a road. Sorry. It’s not. And I’m not an anarchist for suggesting it’s frivolous.
Also property taxes went down, while sales taxes went up .5% , but in context the city grew and had new infrastructure to pay for. So yeah, debt grew and so did the city, which isn’t exactly conservative, but not progressive either. Property taxes have stayed down and the sales taxes were voted on by the public to be raised and sunsetted.
Many said she was going to endorse Perry, then some suggested she would endorse Cain. Newt’s got a few more weeks as “Flava of Da Month,” but he’ll leave a sour taste and I bet Sarah knows it.
Well, you can tell Stacy the codpiece is out of date, then.
What does Brazilian waxing have to do with anything?
Look, I love Palin, but them cadences ain’t “folksy” where I come from. She sounds like she’s from upper Minnesota or something. A Minneapolis cold is RAAtten.
She’s freakin’ Fargo folksy. We still love us some Sarah down here, but that could change if she orders a “pop.”
Nah, sooner or later you’ll have to buy out your principals, and then you’ll be left with your principles AND the only vote.
But a Palin write-in drive is perfectly legitimate. If you believe she is better than any other on the ballot and has a shot, why not? If you don’t think she has a shot, at least at the state, then it’s a waste. We don’t need protest votes. We need to pick somebody and beat Obama, whatever it takes.
Virginia? Remember it isn’t just the March 6 primary, the mass meetings and caucuses and shindigs and shad plankings ending in the state convention begin in February and end in May and will pick the actual delegates.
The last time around, by the time the primaries got to my state, my remaining choices were McCain, Huckabee, and Romney. I seriously considered writing in Ronald Reagan instead.
I think you mean ‘libertarian’.
Running a boom town isn’t an easy task, just look at what they’re dealing with in northwest North Dakota presently.
If you think I mean “libertarian,” whatever it is you’re doing isn’t thinking.
Palin described herself as a progressive when running for mayor.
AS mayor, she saddled Wasilla with millions in debt for a white elephant, taxpayer-subsidized, eminent-domain-enabled sports complex.
As governor, she successfully pushed half a billion dollars in corporate pipeline welfare through the legislature, but was unsuccessful in getting her plan for full-blown gasoline socialism — a taxpayer-funded “gas debit card” for every Alaskan — passed.
As both mayor and governor, her bread and butter was getting as much DC pork as possible into her constituencies.
Then when she got the veep call, she suddenly became a conservative on the stump. Whoop de fucking doo. She’s about as conservative, or about as libertarian, as Gus Hall.
I hope she’s careful about that. Endorsing the wrong guy now would really leave her with a problem, whether as pundit or future candidate.
Not that any of that matters. Dammit.
You seem to forget the people voted for the tax that funded that “community center.”
She sounds normal to me over here in the LP.
Yeah, I did give you the benefit of the doubt about that and I think rightly so.
It’s just that most everyone else means something else when they say that about her.
P.S. just because they’re folksy doesn’t mean they are fake or forced.
I’m 65 and still say “warshed” for washed. It’s how I learned to talk; from listening to those around me when I was little.
I’m educated and intelligent with a large vocabulary but I still “tahk funnie”.
That ad made me cry as well, because its pretty damned awful.
I could see myself writing her in if Bachmann or maybe Santorum isn’t on the ballot, depending on how many delegates they have or have not amassed by the time the primary winds its way to Kentucky. Though I could conceivably see myself voting for Newt if its down to between him and Romney by then, but I’d have to give it some thought.
