    Lousy metaphor for the gummint, as her fans were sending in the money and legs o’ lamb voluntarily, and she was eating for their entertainment.

    Los Federales confiscate their revenue (without so much as a “Thanks, Sucker!”) and there is no discernible purpose to much of what they do.

    And the woman isn’t very resourceful, either.  Has she never heard of “Splurge ‘n’ Purge?”

    You’ve got the metaphor backwards. The government here would be the woman’s “fans”, who are subsidizing her for doing useless, non-productive, and even self-destructive “work”.
