Dad is a man of diverse, archaic hobbies.

Great looking sweater! Is it too late to get my order in for Christmas?

Can you play the harmonica, too? (P.S. I can.)

No, but I was just jamming on my highland bagpipe.

The material cost $100, and I wouldn’t know how to bill for my time. What a capitalist conundrum! I really could do a lot with my string skills, but the endeavor is completely unscalable.

Impressive! Was the spiral cable planned or serendipity? TWYB is getting tall and sprouting like a weed. Almost time to start teaching him to “Sound the Peabroch” on that torture device known as highland bagpipes …

Actually, I want to see the expression on Itty-Bitty’s face the first time he heard Dad on the bagpipes. We’ve seen his face when Dad sings…

Smitty, you are blessed to have such a handsome son! At this age their young brains are soaking up knowledge like a sponge, their personalities are developing and unfolding like a flower, and every day of their growth is special if not miraculous. Treasure every minute, as they grow up so very fast.

Thank you. I’m thinking about doing one for myself, after the novel. Probably won’t do the back design, though.

Planned. The basic premise of the project was to start with the cuff, and tilt the line of advance by 45 degrees. It’s original to me, though I’m sure someone else has done similar.

Takes talent! A useful occupation during those long boring watches at sea …
