    Mrs. Schlossberg is a lapsed museum curator who has not held a workaday job since around about 1986. She was at one point a member of the bar and wrote some (fluffy, I’ve been told) popular books in association with a woman named Alderman. She is pleasant, but so is my aunt.

    George H.W. Bush was taken to task a number of years ago for putting forward a star fundraiser for the position of Ambassador to the Bahamas. IIRC, the nomination had to be withdrawn. That was then, I guess.

    Historically they’ve always been given back pay during past shutdowns. If we’re going to have a rep for mean-spiritedness, we ought to go whole hog and not do that this time. Why reward Federal workers for sending Democrats to Washington?
