Documents Prove Kaitlyn Hunt Lied; Knew Sex With 14-Year-Old Was Illegal

Florida sex offender Kaitlyn Hunt, whose case became a cause for many gay rights activists this year, was aware that her affair with a 14-year-old was illegal, documents obtained from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office show.
“Yes, I know I’m 18 and can get in trouble,” Hunt said in an online conversation more than a month before her February arrest, “but I understand the consequences and I know what I got myself into when I entered the relationship with [the underage girl].”
Hunt, who last month pleaded no contest to multiple felony charges in the case, has claimed in media interviews that she did not realize her involvement with the minor was a crime in Florida, where the legal age of consent is 16. “I wouldn’t have continued, if I really knew what the laws were and if I knew what I was getting myself into,” Hunt told ABC’s Matt Gutman in an interview broadcast on the network’s 20/20 program. . . .

  2. What difference, at this point, does it make?

    The lovely Miss Hunt will be leaving government housing in a few more weeks, and if she can stay out of trouble, go about her life without a felony conviction or sex offender status. If she’s smart, once her probationary period is over, she’ll change her hair and her name and move to Virginia, and try to start over. But no one ever said that she was smart.

  4. More documents, and more news, coming. The difference it makes? Well, it certainly will expose the yawning gulf between the facts of the case and the “Free Kate” innocence myth.

  5. It seems to me this story is less about Kate and more about her rabid supporters, including her parents. The supposed adults in the room.

  6. We have to remember that this is only one part of the larger story. The Hunts want to try and get age of consents lowered, so adults can have sex with minors without fear of prosecution. These facts will minimize effectiveness of that effort.

    I don’t enjoy playing the devil’s advocate here, but I can envision several scenarios where the events played out so far work to her and her supporters advantage – though new developments could change things!

    The third plea deal was the killer… I’d thought this was all over but for the crying until then!

    What is it about truth and honesty that you so despise?

    Perhaps this would have been a “dead story” as you seem to hope but for all the numerous lies spun by the likes of the Hunt’s and the FreeKate brigade.
    Exposing the lies by the light of truth is not hateful but helpful and this is also part of the story.

    Unconditional love requires truth telling. Otherwise the love you claim to have and give to others is nothing more than sentimental gibberish which yields nothing lasting or good.

    If you’re unhappy with the truth and perhaps with being sucked in and duped by the FreeKate narrative built on lies – you should really take that up with the Hunt’s. But for their incessant, repeated lies about all of this – there would be nothing more to this so called “dead story”.

  34. How long do they think it took me to write a check and mail it? I suspect I spend less time thinking about Kaitlyn Hunt than they do. The difference is my thoughts and actions are far more productive than theirs
