‘Hundreds of Thousands of Deportable Aliens’ Released Under Obama Policy

Posted on | March 31, 2014 | 15 Comments

This is truly outrageous:

A review of internal ICE metrics for 2013 reveals that hundreds of thousands of deportable aliens who were identified in the interior of the country were released instead of removed under the administration’s sweeping “prosecutorial discretion” guidelines. In 2013, ICE reported 722,000 encounters with potentially deportable aliens, most of whom came to their attention after incarceration for a local arrest. Yet ICE officials followed through with immigration charges for only 195,000 of these aliens, only about one-fourth. According to ICE personnel, the vast majority of these releases occurred because of current policies that shield most illegal aliens from enforcement, not because the aliens turned out to have legal status or were qualified to stay in the United States.
Many of the aliens ignored by ICE were convicted criminals. In 2013, ICE agents released 68,000 aliens with criminal convictions, or 35 percent of all criminal aliens they reported encountering. The criminal alien releases typically occur without formal notice to local law enforcement agencies and victims.
These findings raise further alarm over the Obama administration’s pending review of deportation practices, which reportedly may further expand the administration’s abuse of “prosecutorial discretion”. Interior enforcement activity has already declined 40 percent since the imposition of “prosecutorial discretion” policies in 2011.

Read the whole report by Jessica Vaughn at the Center for Immigration Studies. Considering what we know about the brutal lawlessness of the human traffickers who profit from illegal immigration, we ought to ask: How many women will be raped as a result of the Obama administration’s policy of non-enforcement?

While the current Administration’s unwillingness to enforce immigration laws or protect American citizens is worthy of ridicule, it is only fair to note that both parties, contrary to the wishes of an overwhelming majority of American citizens, are unwilling to forcefully solve the problem. The Dems see a boatload of potential voters who can be “bought” with free stuff; the ‘Pubs see cheap lettuce, domestic help and lawn care. In the process, they are destroying the country, but they don’t care.

And I write the above, having been married to an “Alien” for the last quarter century, and having jumped through all the hoops necessary for her to live in this country, work and pay taxes. The truth is, the U.S. taxpayer is providing a pressure valve for Mexican corruption and social unrest. We pay for it with our money and, in far too many cases, our lives. I’d pay good money to drop Jeb Bush or any of the other amnesty proponents somewhere in the Chihuahuan Desert between Antelope Wells and Columbus, NM with nothing but their wits and see how quickly their view on unlimited immigration lasts.

“How many women will be raped as a result of the Obama administration’s policy of non-enforcement?”

RSM really has a talent for framing these things. I’m sure feminists everywhere will rally around this message and this sudden realization will turn them into anti-illegal-immigration & anti-Obama fanatics overnight.

So you’re okay with the administration’s policy?

I suppose we should be cheering the fact they deported the 195k.

RS, if they’ve come to the attention of ICE because they’ve committed a crime shouldn’t they be deported? That seems to be the distinction that’s being made here.

You miss the point. First, that non-enforcement and/or executive-amnesty are a hell of a lot closer to representing a “war on women” than some constituencies objecting to having to pay for other people’s free contraception. Second, that radical feminists are always apologizing for those who oppress, and commit violence against, women.

Doubtful. Feminists don’t listen to the heteronormative patriarchy, even when said heteronormative patriarchy is right.

    Feminists are stupid that way.

Sure. But all the laws have gone out the window. Compare this story. It’s about not pissing off the Mexicans.

“RSM really has a talent” – yes, he does.

But don’t despair: one day you’ll find your talent, too. And do it with dignity – hey, those dishes aren’t going to wash themselves.

What the Obama policy is is a perversion and distortion of “prosecutorial discretion.” Discretion is supposed to be exercised on a case by case basis – so, suppose one person skipped a traffic ticket 10 years ago but has otherwise had a clean record, maybe you let them correct that error and go on to the next case. What Obama is doing is saying anyone with a record of less than “x” (and we don’t really know where that line is drawn, precisely) gets the pass.

But again, there is little we can do about it. It only takes 34 Democrats to block removal from office and short of that, it takes a new President to reverse all these extra-legal acts (except for those which are possible to litigate, once they reach the final stages of the court battles).

Elections matter. “Protest votes” and the like elect Democrats. People need to realize this.
