Having missed the opportunity to do pinup girls last weekend for Memorial Day, this weekend I’ll pick an appetizer from the rich legacy of WW2 combat aircraft nose art: in this case, the legendary B-17 Memphis Belle of the Eighth Air Force, immortalized in a 1990 movie. Pinup aficionados will no doubt recognize the Memphis Belle as a George Petty girl, from the April 1941 Esquire.
