The #Ebola Media Epidemic

It was probably only a matter of time before CNN producers figured out that Ebola is cable-news ratings gold. Today I was babysitting my infant grandson and, on a whim, turned the TV to CNN and left it there all day, while they were wall-to-wall with URGENT BREAKING EBOLA UPDATES the way they do with a major news story — a school shooting, a missing Malaysian commercial jet or a Republican congressman talking about rape and abortion.

You get the idea, really, of a symbiosis between the media and the administration. Personally, I’m not panicked over Ebola, nor do I care to interpret the problem through the warped lens of a political blame game. But the White House and the Democrat-Media Complex? They’re sweating like a whore in church. Ace of Spades nails it cold:

Meanwhile, you know this is now officially serious, because President Golf n’ Fundraise has cancelled planned fundraisers in NJ and Connecticut to actually trouble himself to pretend to do his job for a day.
He’ll be having some briefings on ebola. Not a minute too soon, either.
Just the right time for briefings on ebola.
Any sooner? Premature, and signs of irrational panic.

You see, it’s always politics first with this administration. Everything is about polls and perceptions and — given that the Democrat Party just hit a historic low in terms of their popularity rating, three weeks before Election Day — the Competence Test Tag-Team of Ebola and ISIS have inspired . . . Well, DEFCON ONE: “We must look like we know what we’re doing and are busy as hell doing it!”

Please excuse my sarcasm. I’m not laughing at Ebola, I’m laughing at halfwits who think the most important thing about this deadly virus is its potential impact on the Democrat Party. Also, sarcasm is the only sane reaction to the Left’s “Ebola Racism” meme.

  1. Thursday morning links

The investment markets? It’s about time, past time, for a good correction towards reality. Ebola hysteria? I guess it sells soap. News is infotainment. See The #Ebola Media Epidemic Presbyterian workers wore no hazmat suits for two days while treatin

  2. If there is anything to this rumor, that is a strong possibility.

Although my reading of the personalities is that it would be the 2016 election that would be postponed.

  3. The recent memo on that involves halting any paperwork in process, obtaining a standard-issue alcohol swab packet (one each), and two minutes sanitizing your paper spindle while wearing regulation latex/nitrile gloves [ whichever applies under workplace acommodation codes in your organization/subgroup ].

  4. Since when did we care about ideological impurity when it came to denunciation? Have you usurped the position of Denunciation Czar?

    Speak up man!

  5. And, it’s just beginning. It’s gonna get far worse before Christ returns to rule this sorry ball of rock.

  6. Yeah. I know what you mean. About like the statement a few days ago, “I take Acceptation to that.”

I had to laugh about that.

  7. There are two things that are pretty obvious about the Imperious Leader.

First he never does anything for anyone else unless he can take advantage for himself. He positions himself so he can take the credit if it works, but he’s always ready to deny his involvement. He doesn’t push Democrats, he pushes Team Obama.

Second, he’s all about long term planning and choosing his moments. Remember when he told Putin he’d be able to do a lot more after his reelection?
