Crazy People Are Dangerous

Say hello to Pamela Cisneros and, while you’re at it, go ahead and say good-bye because the 49-year-old resident of Queens, New York, died Monday in the proverbial “hail of police gunfire” after she stabbed two people — one fatally — and then charged toward NYPD officers while wielding two knives. Before we talk about this deranged psycho, however, let’s first talk about her victims. ABC News reports:

New York City police fatally shot an apparently emotionally disturbed woman after she allegedly stabbed two people in Times Square in a “random and unprovoked” attack on Monday afternoon, authorities said.

(No need for either “apparently” or “allegedly” in this context. The perp is dead. There is no “presumed innocent,” because there will be no trial. Also, dead people can’t file libel suits.)

One of the victims, 32-year-old Erin Piacenti of Chester, New Jersey, died at a hospital, according to the NYPD.
Piacenti worked at Bank of America. The bank said in a statement that it is “shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague,” adding, “our hearts go out to her family and all of her loved ones.”
Piacenti and her husband welcomed a baby girl five months ago, and she was killed on her first day back at work after maternity leave . . .
She and her husband both graduated from Fordham Law School in 2021 . . .
The other victim, a 68-year-old man from Rhode Island, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in stable condition, officials said.
The victims were stabbed within 20 seconds of each near 41st Street and Seventh Avenue, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
The 68-year-old had just exited the subway and was waiting to cross the street with his wife when the suspect pulled two knives from a bag, waved them and then allegedly stabbed him in the abdomen “in what appears to be a random and unprovoked attack,” Tisch said at a press briefing.
The suspect then went up Seventh Avenue toward 42nd Street, where she approached the second victim, who was similarly stabbed in the abdomen in an apparently random, unprovoked attack, Tisch said.
The suspect allegedly then fled north toward the NYPD substation, authorities said. Witnesses flagged down officers who confronted her for four minutes and “gave her numerous commands to drop the knife,” which she refused, Tisch said.
“During the encounter, she told the officers, ‘I’m not dropping anything. I would rather kill both of you.’ She repeated, ‘I will kill you,'” Tisch said.
Officers deployed Tasers before two officers discharged their service weapons, Tisch said.
The suspect, identified by police as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros of Queens, was pronounced dead at a hospital. She had a “documented mental health history,” Tisch said.

When the police commissioner says the knife-wielding maniac “had a documented mental health history,” what she actually means is that the suspect was deranged, demented, daffy, wacky, off her rocker, berserk, bonkers, non compos mentis, Looney Tunes, a few fries short of a Happy Meal and cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. There is no doubt Pamela Cisneros was crazy, although you may wonder, “What kind of crazy was she?”

Cisneros had three children. After the birth of her third child, she reportedly experienced postpartum depression and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. In 2019, she attempted suicide. According to her relatives, she received treatment and appeared to be doing better the past few years, but seems to have “gone off her meds” about a week before she went on the stabbing rampage that ended with her being shot by cops.

Were there clues? Were there omens that foreshadowed this outcome? Indeed there were. In a Facebook post last November, Cisneros began:

Hello to all!! I was called upon the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob for this moment and time to inform you that the end times are here. Be kindly advised that the Lord would not leave me in ease until I posted this message which can attest to amount of love God has for all of us. The current events surrounding you can attest to my previous statement of the end times being present. There is news of war, pestilence, earthquakes, the diminished love of people to the point of stabbing others for no reason, sex slavery in this country and around the globe, widespread drug use, persecution of the Christian believer on a global scale, worldwide hunger, homelessness, etc.

So, “the end times are here,” the would-be prophetess informed her Facebook followers, and one of the signs was that people were “stabbing others for no reason.” After citing several Bible verses, Cisneros then wrote: “The Lord will also like for you to know that the warfare is spiritual and the battlefield is in your mind.” Fact check:  True.

Having no doubt myself about the truth of biblical prophecy and the reality of spiritual warfare, nevertheless I spotted the problem right at the outset, when Cisneros claimed that she had been divinely “called . . . for this moment” to deliver her Facebook sermon. She was on a mission, see? Out of all the people in the world whom God might have sent to warn us of the end times, somehow Pamela Cisneros got the call.

Far be it from me to claim any such divine appointment, but God moves in mysterious ways, and who knows? Perhaps I really have been sent to deliver a message for these troubled times: Crazy People Are Dangerous.
