  1. Good move, Smitty, I watched the last Batman just because of all the hype about Heath Ledger, which turned out to be justified. Unfortunately he was the only thing in the entire film that was worth a damn. They should have just left out Batman and Two-Face and called the damn movie The Joker. I don’t suffer any illusions this shit will be any better.

  2. It’s not a Batman flick that Smitty skipped, it’s a Nolan film he unfortunately missed. I loved Nolan’s The Prestige and that was the reason why i watched The Dark Night.  Watch the film for the script and direction (both by Nolan), not for the exceptional Heath Ledger as the Joker or even Christian Bale (a tremondous actor btw. Don’t agree? See his recent film The Fighter.)

  3. Bale wasn’t worth a shit in The Dark Knight. The only good thing about him there was the way he changed his voice when in costume. Otherwise it was a pretty sad performance seeing as how in these recent films Batman is supposed to be about half crazy himself. What really ruined the film was so much time devoted to Harvey Dent aka Two-Face. If they had kept the focus on Batman and the Joker it would have been at least three times better.

  4. Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. Panel from Batman #84 (June, 1954), page 24.

It is fucked up.  I am sure Charles Johnson has an original in his collection.

  5. I liked Lee Meriwether better.

I haven’t watched a Batman movie since the one that came out in the 60s with Adam West and Burt Ward. I have no intention of changing that unbroken record either.

  6. Every Batman film makes the same mistake: two supervillians per film. It should be one per film. So, yes, you’re right.

  7. All superhero movies do that shit. It’s bad enough when its just one hero but when its a group like the X-Men (and I’m sure The Avengers will be no different) its just a big crowded mess of faces at the expense of a comprehensible plot and storyline.
