Trying to restore Senate comity

Democrats have one overriding objective this Congress: to create jobs and get our economy back on track. But our Republican colleagues are so dead set on preventing Democrats from passing job-creating legislation that they have been willing to abuse the rules of the Senate to grind the chamber to a halt, making it virtually impossible to pass even bills that have broad, bipartisan support.

If that held true, Senator Reid, you’d just resign. You and your party are the choke point that precludes what the country really needs, an impeachment.

May God have mercy on your soul, Harry. As for your political career, no one can top Dennis Miller’s judgement pronounced 4+ years ago:
Senator Reid, there may be some finely-parsed way in which you are not a liar. But the truth is that no one believes you. You have no credibility. Let us try to find mercy in our hearts for the Nevada voters who afflicted you upon us for another 6 years of whiskey-tango-foxtrottery.

Screw comity. I will donate against any GOP candidate who uses that word (or ‘collegiality’ or ‘bipartisan’) The Democrats have been a criminal conspiracy to loot this country since Aaron Burr founded Tamany Hall, regardless of what ideology has hijacked their leadership from time to time.

I don’t blame the voters of Nevada. George Bush and Sarah Palin have taught us that the greatest strength a RINO has is unhinged liberal vitriol.

Sharon Angle had that in spades; Why didn’t she win?

I still don’t know. Can’t think of a single reason.

That has worked for the Demonrats in the past because the GOP leadership loves the invites to all the proper parties and such. perhaps spme of the leadership is getting a little spine, but will with hold judgment until I see a lot more data points.

SDN pinpoints one problem below, but the rest was neither here nor there. The worst part of it was the lack of support from the GOP establishment.

Say what you will about Christine O’Donnel as well, she had exactly the same problem. The establishment wanted Castle, and they would have gotten behind that RINO, but not CD because she wasn’t their type.

Ronnie Raygun’s 11th commandment is routinely ignored by the Republican left. Heaven help a conservative that ignores it.

IF they were a “Republican left” we could fight them on level ground. If they’re the leadership they can move primaries around, impose candidates on states, bless or starve with funding… all we can do is cut off their money. If we break enough of their eggs, eventually they’ll become extinct.

I’ve said it before, there is NO reason the GOP as such has to survive. There is NO reason it can’t go the way of the Whigs. Unlike the Democratic Kleptocracy, the GOP was founded as a party of principles; if it drifts away from them it has no reason to exist.

The Republican left is in charge. They have hated conservatives since the time of TRoosevelt.

Understand, the Republican Party began as a leftist party. The Progressive movement was in the GOP mainstream. Lincoln was their kind of statist, just as Wilson and FDR were. There is a reason the GOP has been known as dime store new dealers.

Like it or not, the leadership hates conservatives. Reagan was not a conservative (he was right wing only in Dem party terms), but he was too conservative for the party leadership then, and they hated his guts.

To think the GOP will ever be a conservative party is a delusion. They will stack the game against anyone they think will get in their way of holding power so they can dispense power and goodies.

Quartermaster it’s been a long time since Teddy Roosevelt and Margaret Sanger were soulmates. The radical left long ago abandoned the GOP; you could no more find a radical progressive Republican today than you could find a Scoop Jackson Democrat. The Christies and Romnies are the product of a political environment shaped by the Democrats and the Left, not the withered ghost of Woodrow Wilson.

Obviously, jm, we differ on our definition of the word ‘broads’. I grew up with parents who were of Sinatra and Dino’s Rat Pack generation, so, for me, ‘broad’ is a positive designation and does not refer to the width of the gal. But, I must admit that the old saying is true: the bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin’.
