Liz Carter for Congress: Because It’s Time to Tip Over and Capsize Hank Johnson

This afternoon I opened my e-mail inbox and saw (a) a message from Conor Friedersdorf and (b) a message from a minister at the Georgia church attended by Carol Purdy, my third-grade crush.  Obviously, I chose to read the latter, which said:

Met Liz Carter again today — her campaign for GA-4 now has national recognition thanks to Hank Johnson’s verbal skills. Would love to see you report on her campaign.

Liz Carter, GA-4. The name rang a bell, so I checked and, sure enough, there it was in my Feb. 19 American Spectator column about CPAC:

 In the Bloggers Lounge, I’m handed a card promoting Liz Carter, a Republican candidate in Georgia’s 4th District, which in 2008 voted 75 percent for Democrat Rep. Hank Johnson.

 In case you haven’t seen it yet, here is video of Hank Johnson worrying about the potential of overpopulation capsizing Guam:

Johnson represents Georgia’s 4th District which, as Allahpundit reminds us, previously sent the genuinely insane Cynthia McKinney to Congress. That thought might tempt Republicans to give up the 4th District as lost beyond all hope of redemption, but Liz Carter has the Reaganesque spirit of can-do optimism, and she’s also got this cool video:

By all indications, 2010 is going to be a year when Republicans will be riding the kind of overwhelming anti-incumbent wave that could wipe out Democrats even in districts like Georgia’s 4th. If not now, when?

    I’m not Catholic, and you’ve obviously posted this comment to the wrong blog. Gender dysphoria is one thing, but blogger dysphoria . . .

    Um, realistically, that would be . . . never.

    This is an Atlanta & environs district, with 36% white voters. If a Republican could win this district even with $10 million to spend, it would mean such a big GOP wave that we would have 350 seats in the House WITHOUT GA-4.

    Conor Friedersdorf? Is that a real person? I always thought it was some actor, playing a quasi-conservative of undetermined orientation in order to force us to think through the difficult issues, or maybe just a fraternity prank.
