Two Kinds of Jews

Posted on | May 18, 2010 | 23 Comments

Philip Klein explains

[T]he difference between a Jewish liberal and a Jewish conservative is that when a Jewish liberal walks out of the Holocaust Museum, he feels, “This shows why we need to have more tolerance and multiculturalism.” The Jewish conservative feels, “We should have killed a lot more Nazis, and sooner.”

Exactly so, and you should read the whole thing. I forget who it was that once described a liberal as a man who refuses to take his own side in an argument, but it’s the same basic point.

Darwinism has a cultural and ethnic element as well, apparently. Those who are not determined to survive will not, in fact, manage to perpetuate their religion.

Just remember Stacy: when you become the first Gentile President Of Israel, you’ll have to be the President of every one, liberal or conservative.

    Stacy, Smitty,
Hey – there are not a few (former) Liberal Jews in our Orthodox congregation.

Hag Someach – a Good Holiday to all who celebrate Shavuoth – that begins tonight at sundown.

    Cheers!

I am not Jewish, but I would like to be put down in the Inglorious Basterds column. Sometimes you need a reminder like the one, Aldo Reins hands out in the movie to Nazis, over and over again….so they don’t forget, even after they take off their uniforms. That’s called a low tech deterrent.

I am a Catholic and I have always been an ardent Zionist, but, when I see American Jews vote so overwhelmingly for Democratic candidates who either don’t care about Israel or (as in the present case) loathe it, I wonder why I care more than American Jews about their (and our) Biblical homeland.

Perhaps the current administration’s outright contempt toward Israel will motivate American Jews to vote in a manner which is consistent with the interests of Israel’s right to exist.

I have a fairly famous Jewish friend who you see on TV all the time. I asked him once why Jews supported Democrats when it is obvious the democrats would not mourn the loss of Israel for a second.

His answer stuck with me. “We have a self-destructive gene.”

I think it explains so much when we see Jews abandoned their brethren to the will of Arabs and people who would kill them all, including the tolerant Jews.

It amazes me and frankly makes me wonder how in the world they have survived as long as they have.

archer52, I could think of a few. But that gene is not limited to Jews.
