Professor Erik Loomis, Code Pink and the Media Hate America’s Gun Owners UPDATE: More Progressive Civility™

Posted on | December 21, 2012 | 16 Comments

Code Pink protesters — including the group’s Marxist founder, Medea Benjamin — disrupted today’s press conference by National Rifle Association chairman Wayne LaPierre. Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit has video. Meanwhile, as Alex Pappas of Daily Caller reports, influential members of the nation’s elite press corps were openly mocking LaPierre:

Who is Jonathan Weisman? Just another neutral, objective congressional reporter for the New York Times, that’s all.

Might as well get your news from Erik Loomis. (Metaphor“!)

Here’s the full text of Wayne LaPierre’s speech. More at Memeorandum.

UPDATE: If there’s one thing America can always expect from progressives, it’s civil discourse about important policy issues:

Lots more Progressive Civility™ where that came from.

UPDATE II: Oops! Neutral objective reporters caught on a hot microphone disparaging the NRA, praising Code Pink.

UPDATE III: Linked by American Globthanks!

UPDATE IV: Linked by the Lonely Conservative thanks!

I’m reasonably sure the NRA will outlast the NYT. Especially if circumstances force it to change its name to the New Republican Army…

As for Medea Benjamin, we should have let the Pakistanis keep her.

Twitchy is all over this. America’s Nuttiest Professor should not be allowed anywhere near firearms (what he does with his historic collection we really do not want to know about either).

In the meantime, the NRA is suggesting we begin to live like communists – under the watchful of armed soldiers in the hallways and on the rooftops. That’s just as insane as banning guns.

And his speech today was pro-Second Amendment, but very much anti-First Amendment – a tendency they’ve shown in the past too. Remember these are the same guys that sided with the Democrats on the dead-for-now DISCLOSE Act…..after they’d carved out an exception for themselves, natch.

Sure. If by “we” you mean schoolchildren, while on school grounds. And by “armed soldiers” you mean some retired guy who looks like a WalMart greeter, but dresses in standard security garb and has one handgun.

Moral equivalence arguments are considered fallacies for a reason. You might want to look it up.

    Hyperbole much?

The NRA is about as much a threat to the First Amendment as Obama is to the Muslim Brotherhood.

AngelaTC is, by and large, hyperbolic. Or at least the majority of her posts here are such. I read her posts mostly in the hopes that she retains some rationality.

The NRA was more a danger to this country when they endorsed Harry Reid in 2010 than they are endorsing armed guards in schools.
