The Homophobolicious Flavor of Hate™

Posted on | March 1, 2013 | 21 Comments

Last summer, during the absurd Chick-fil-A boycott, my teenage son Jefferson coined the word “homophobolicious” to describe the yummy sandwiches. Now the unspeakable terror inspired by The Flavor of Hate™ has spread to the University of New Mexico campus:

A group of liberal students at the University of New Mexico tried their best to get Chick-fil-A kicked off campus because they claimed the eatery made them feel “unsafe.” . . .
Gay students claimed that they even felt threatened by the mere sight of students and faculty carrying bags with the Chick-fil-A logo on them.

KQRE-TV in Albequerque reports:

“Students started expressing to me they felt unsafe to go into their own campus union building,” Sen. Miquela Ortiz of the Associated Students of UNM said. “When they said they felt uncomfortable on campus, I felt it was an issue that I should bring up.”
“Please look at this from a moral standpoint,” said Brittany Arneson, a student against having Chick-fil-A on campus. “Look at the kids that are here that are telling you, ‘I do not feel safe on this campus anymore.'”

We could afford to laugh at this hysteria, were it not for the fact that left-wing hype about “hate” inspires dangerous lunatics to think it’s OK to murder “homophobes.”  Fanatical propagandists who claim to see terrorism in a Chick-fil-A logo are ultimately responsible for the deranged gunman who wanted to kill Anna Maria Hoffman.

If you don’t feel safe because of a logo on a bag of sandwiches, I suggest you go back to your parents’ basement and never leave.

I like your implication that straight conservatives are in more danger from gay activists who have labeled them “homophobes,” than the other way around. But it’s sorta like male victims of spousal abuse: their claims never get traction, let alone a hearing, because their victimhood is scoffed at.

[…] In this case, the offensive object that is being rewritten by a motivated political interpretive community into an emblem of hatred, intolerance, and unwholesome eating is a Chick-fil-A logo (or perhaps it’s the waffle fries) — which, though those who produce these items retain as their intent the retailing of delicious, country-inspired foodstuffs, are nevertheless trumped in the interpretation of that intent by those who wish to find in fried chicken breasts, lightly buttered and toasted buns, and delicious dill pickle chips, the searing hatred of homosexuals by devout Christians who have no right their beliefs, because holding those beliefs is intolerant. Time to start reporting liberals wearing Che shirts, vehicles with Obama stickers, and any and all union members. I know all of those make me feel uncomfortable, and if that’s the standard they want, then it’s time to throw it right back in their stupid faces.

Good point, Finrod. I know that the “Not a Republican” decals on pro-Obama cars make me feel uncomfortable (ie, irritated) so I think they should be banned, and I’m really not a Republican

My thought is if they’re dumb enough not only to vote for Obama but also advertise him on their car, then they’re also probably not smart enough to be a safe driver.

blankety blank blank those blankety blanks…If I’d have even thought of saying such a thing, my late father would have smacked me alongside the head, told me to shut up, and suck it up.

Who are the parents of these freaking morons?

Not a republican, I have received threats for believing abortion is wrong, and been called a racist for not supporting socialism. I am currently being harassed for challenging the idea of lynching by popular vote in publicized double jeopardy scandal that clearly destroyed the concepts of civil rights by a purported civil rights activist. It is no longer about parties, it is Socialism, and hedonism versus the workingman, and the thinker.
